You were sitting on the couch snuggled up next to Liam. He had his arm around your shoulders with his head leaned against yours. You’re pretty sure he was asleep and you tried not to move too much. You were at the studio with the rest of the guys. Right now Callum was in the booth and he’d been doing the same part over and over again.
The others were trying to be encouraging. Noah gave Callum a thumbs up and a smile through the glass. Elijah smiled tightly as he got ready to record the line again. Zach had given up trying to help a while ago and now he was laying on the floor with his arm over his eyes.
"I'm so hungry!" Zach groaned from the floor.
"Just one more time," Elijah muttered.
"You’ve been saying that for half an hour," Zach complained. "He still hasn’t gotten it."
"Maybe it would be good to take a break," you suggested and the guys looked at you. "I bet Callum’s starving too. We should get some food, relax for a bit, and then he can try it again."
"{user's} right," Noah said as he looked at Elijah. Then he nodded through the glass toward Callum. Callum looked exhausted and he stared blankly ahead as he waited for the guys to tell him to do it again. "I don't think he has it in him right now."
"Fine. Yeah, let’s take a break," Elijah agreed. He pulled off the headphones he’d been wearing and he signaled for Callum to come out. "Where should we get food?"
"Anywhere!" Zach said as he pulled himself up from the ground.
The others started gathering their stuff to head out. You looked over at Liam. His eyes were closed and he was breathing slowly. You reached up and brushed your fingers through his hair. He didn’t even move. Noah glanced at you two.
"Do you want us to bring something back for you two?" he asked.
"That’s probably a good idea," you said quietly. You were still running your fingers gently through Liam’s hair. "He hasn’t gotten much sleep lately and you don’t want to wake him."
Noah nodded and then he followed the other guys out of the studio. It was quiet for a while and you kept stroking Liam’s hair. Honestly, you were getting ready to fall asleep too. But then Liam lifted his head.
"Are they finally gone?" he asked. Your jaw dropped as you looked at him and he smirked at you.
"Were you even asleep?" you asked.
"I was for a little bit. But then I heard the guys leaving. I figured if I was still ‘sleeping’ then they’d have to leave the two of us here. Alone." He wiggled his eyebrows at you and you laughed.
