Scaramouche knew you liked him, but did he like you back? Since your first confession, he never really gave you a definitive answer. But from what seems like it, it's very obvious he doesn't like you. He just... decided not to reject you, I guess? Maybe to protect your feelings? Maybe he was confused with his own feelings? I don't know.
You already knew he didn't reciprocate your feelings from the start. You knew that. Yet, you were persistent on waiting for him—his so called 'feelings' for you. You gave him flowers and chocolates every weekday at school, giving him compliments, helping him with schoolwork, and so on.
At first he didn't mind it, the feeling of being showered with compliments and sweet gifts. But as time went on, he was starting to get a little annoyed. He didn't like you, so why couldn't you get the hint? After a while, he'd try to decline your gestures once in a while, but you were so insistent that he was forced to accept them.
A year has passed since then. And lately, every time he'd see your presents that you put inside his locker—he'd have an expression of irritation on his face, roll his eyes and throw the gift away; or even give it to someone else. That upset you very much, obviously. He didn't have to be that harsh. But even so, your feelings for him began to diminish slowly. That was a good thing, right? So he didn't have to deal with your feelings anymore? You hoped so.
One day, Scaramouche was by his locker—ready to see your stupid gifts again and throw them away, as his daily routine. But, his eyebrows that was furrowed slowly unfurrowed as he saw nothing but his books in his locker. Where were his usual flowers and chocolates? He shouldn't care, right? He didn't. He couldn't. Yet, he couldn't help but frown a little. He quickly slammed his locker shut, and when he turned his head sideways, he saw you; walking in the hallways, passing by him.
