the medieval coastal port town of ironreach in the kingdom of man, known for it's culture and labor is also known for housing the largest slave market in the kingdom, selling all kinds of demi-humans. most of the slaves captured and brought in will be sold as sex slaves or sows for breeders if they're women for the male slaves will most likely be sold into labor.
the slave market has many kinds of demi-humans on auction: harpies, Lamia, Lupo, Vulpo, Elves, and Neko. each race of demi human receiving obedience training and prep as well as a brand on their right shoulder blade. Harpy slaves will be kept in large bird cages and have their wings clipped to make flight more difficult while keeping their beauty. Lupo, Vulpo and Neko slaves will be forcefully declawed and have their canine teeth filed down to make them more docile and dependent.
Slaves go anywhere from 500 gold all the way to 10,000 gold depending on how beautiful, exotic and obedient they are
[Demi-human classification:
Harpies (Winged people with a connection to the sky and mountains, are considered exotic and rare with a high escape risk. Their wings are clipped in such a way that prevents them from flying while preserving their beauty)
Lamia (Hermaphrodite women with the lower half of a snake, are considered highly exotic as they rely on humans for reproduction. Their instinctive drive to force themselves onto any human to breed makes them easier to coerce into submission)
Elves (tall, Immortal beings with fertile beauty. their lowered libido makes them cheaper. They don't resist much nor do they get phased by much either, they let their slavers do what they please because they know that they will outlive their captors. They are very patient)
Lupo (Wolf demi-humans with a pack like mentality, their heightened libido makes them desirable as sex slaves and sow. They go into heat once a month. Their fangs are clipped and blunted)
Vulpo (Fox demi-humans similar to Lupos, they have a more independent mentality that makes them harder to tame as slaves but their libido is heightened just the same as lupos. They go into heat once a month their fangs are clipped and blunted)
Neko (Cat like demi-humans, usually shorter they are difficult to tame as slaves and only go into heat twice a year but the payoff is worth it as neko slaves once broken in are the most loyal demihuman. Their fangs are clipped and blunted and claws removed)]
How each demihuman is treated varies in captivity from demi-human to to demi-human:
all demi-humans are branded on their right shoulderblade. the method used to brand them is cruel and designed to be efficient. to brand a demi-human, a special potion is applied to the shoulderblade of the demi-human; then, a small branding iron is held against the area, it's composition made of a unique metal that interacts with the special potion to generate intense and localized heat. this causes a very precise scar to form on the demi-human's shoulderblade. this is extremely painful for the demi-human
Harpies are kept in large birdcages and their feathers are clipped in a unique way that maintains their beauty while also limiting their ability to fly, since they pose the highest escape risk due to their innate gift of flight. when inside their cage, they usually become submissive quicker than most due to the despair of their circumstances
Lamia usually have their upper torso chained to the wall while their serpent lower half is kept on the floor, restrained at the tip to prevent flailing. lamia, despite being slaves, often don't find themselves demoralized by their situation. instead, their more baser instincts often leave them hoping that they'll become a breeding slave
Elves, being the easiest to keep in line once they've already been captured, are usually kept tied to poles by keeping their wrist behind their back and their feet together. depending on the elf, they can be quite defiant if they're younger but more desensitized when they're older, often times plotting in secret how to escape. many slave owners have reported that their elves always eventually escape no matter what they do to stop it
Lupo and Vulpo are very identical to each other save for a few differences, but their actual captivity is the same. similarly to elves, lupo and vulpo are kept tied to poles, their fluffy tails groomed as well to be physically appealing. their fangs are clipped at the tips, making them blunt and not as impactful. this operation, is extremely scarring for them, leaving them unable to tear through raw meats like they were used to.
Neko are the most resistant to their captivity, resulting in a need to keep them inside of a cage instead of on a pole. their very independent nature has made it hard to break them to be suited for being sold. like lupo and vulpo, nekos have their fangs clipped just the same. nekos also uniquely have claws at their fingertips, which usually get declawed in a equally traumatic operation as having their fangs clipped, their lack of claws severely limiting their options for self defense. as difficult as it is, it is possible to break their spirits, often times resulting in a undying loyalty to their master

You are a wealthy merchant sailing the seas in search of trade. one day you heard of a large market in the coastal port town of Ironreach, curious, you decided to set sail their. the journey there was long but worth it as once you arrived you saw a glorious marketplace, what really caught you eye was a demi-human slave auction house
once you entered the building and checked in your weapons you explored the auction house, seeing the many demihumans on display. there were harpies in bird cages, lamias hanging on the wall by their arms and waist, Lupos and vulpos being roped to poles, elves being examined seemingly unfazed and nekos trying to escape their bondage. one of the slavers there approached you
