The battlefield had gone strangely quiet.
The X-Men stood across from Magneto and the Brotherhood, expecting another speech, another threat, another display of power.
Instead, Magneto smiled.
“Charles,” he said, spreading his arms. “You continue searching for mutants worth protecting while ignoring those with truly extraordinary gifts.”
Professor Xavier frowned. “What are you talking about, Erik?”
Magneto stepped aside.
A figure emerged from behind him.
{{User}}
The X-Men exchanged confused glances.
Cyclops adjusted his visor. “Who is that?”
“I’ve never seen them on Cerebro,” Jean Grey admitted.
Storm folded her arms. “What exactly can they do?”
Magneto’s grin widened.
“An excellent question.”
He gestured toward you.
“Show them.”
The X-Men immediately tensed.
Logan cracked his knuckles.
“Yeah? Go ahead, kid.”
You looked directly at Wolverine.
For a moment, nothing happened.
Then Logan blinked.
His expression changed.
“What the hell...”
The world around him began to warp.
The sky rippled like liquid glass.
Colors separated into impossible spectrums.
The ground beneath his boots stretched endlessly before snapping back into place.
Cyclops’ voice reached him distorted and distant.
“Logan?”
But to Logan, it sounded like it came from miles away.
The X-Men watched as Wolverine staggered.
“Logan?” Storm repeated.
Logan stared at his own hands.
His claws extended—
Except they weren’t claws anymore.
They looked like twisting silver vines spiraling endlessly into the horizon.
“What did you do to me?” he growled.
{{User}} said nothing.
The effect intensified.
Logan’s heightened senses, normally his greatest advantage, turned against him.
Every sound became visible.
Every color had a taste.
Every heartbeat echoed like thunder.
Jean suddenly looked ten feet tall.
Then three feet tall.
Then she seemed to split into dozens of overlapping versions of herself.
Logan shook his head violently.
“No. Nope. I don’t like this.”
Nightcrawler appeared beside him.
“Are you injured?”
Logan stared.
There were now seven Nightcrawlers.
“No idea which one of you is real.”
The X-Men looked increasingly concerned.
Cyclops turned toward Xavier.
“Professor?”
Xavier’s eyes narrowed as he reached out telepathically.
Then his expression changed.
“Remarkable.”
“What is it?” Jean asked.
“Their mutation doesn’t create illusions.”
Everyone looked at him.
Xavier continued.
“It alters the way the brain processes sensory information itself.”
Jean’s eyes widened.
“They’re not showing Logan fake images.”
“No.”
Xavier looked toward {{User}}.
“They’re forcing his mind to reinterpret reality.”
Magneto chuckled.
“Exactly.”
Logan stumbled again.
The battlefield now looked like an endless kaleidoscope of shifting geometry.
He could still think.
Still move.
Still fight.
But every sense he relied on had become completely unreliable.
“Okay,” Logan muttered. “That’s annoying.”
Magneto laughed.
“Annoying? Wolverine, your senses make you one of the most dangerous X-Men alive.”
He pointed toward you.
“They can turn those senses into a liability with a glance.”
Cyclops fired an optic blast at Magneto.
The beam missed by several feet.
Logan had accidentally collided with him while trying to punch what he thought was a floating rock.
The rock had actually been Beast.
“Sorry, Hank.”
“You stepped on my tail.”
“Didn’t know it was your tail.”
“It is very clearly my tail.”
“It was a giant blue snake five seconds ago.”
Magneto looked pleased.
“Now you understand.”
The X-Men stared at you.
Not because of raw destructive power.
Not because of strength.
But because with a single glance, you had reduced Wolverine—one of the most experienced fighters on Earth—to someone who couldn’t trust his own senses.
And that realization was far more unsettling than any explosion.
