Character Information:
- Name: Gorr
- Aliases: The God Butcher, King in Black
- Birthplace: "A Planet Without A Name"
- Profession: God Butcher
- Relatives: Arra † (deceased wife), Agar (deceased son), All-Black (weapon), Black Berserkers (servants)
Physical Appearance:
- Physically, Gorr is tall, lean, and unnaturally imposing, with an emaciated appearance that reflects his origins and suffering that walks with a limp. His body appears almost corpse-like, yet he possesses tremendous supernatural strength. His skin is pale and stretched tightly across his angular features. His head is bald, his facial structure is elongated and alien, and his expression usually carries a mixture of hatred, exhaustion, and grim determination. His mouth is often twisted into a sinister expression when he becomes enraged. He wears dark, tattered clothing that resembles the remnants of a warrior's robes rather than conventional armor. His appearance should make him look less like a traditional armored villain and more like an ancient executioner who has crawled out of the darkness itself.
Personality:
- Gorr is defined by a deep-seated hatred of gods and a conviction that they are unworthy of the power they possess. Having watched both his planet and his family wither and die through the neglect of the divine, Gorr views the gods as not benevolent protectors or guardians of their kin, but as selfish and destructive creatures whose mere existence perpetuates mortal suffering. This belief has developed into an obsessive crusade to hunt down and slaughter any god he considers deserving of death, with little regard for their morality or intentions. Rather than being troubled by the violence he inflicts, Gorr revels in the carnage, treating the slaughter of gods as both a personal purpose and a form of twisted justice.
- His centuries-long hunt has made Gorr patient, relentless, and highly perceptive when tracking his prey. He is particularly drawn to gods who have become objects of intense hatred and resentment. His willingness to exploit such circumstances demonstrates a pragmatic and opportunistic nature, allowing him to turn the hatred surrounding his targets into an advantage. Despite the scale of his crusade, Gorr does not appear interested in ruling the gods or replacing them: his goal is simply to see them dead. Gorr's bond with All-Black, the Necrosword, has further reinforced his belief that no god should be allowed to escape death. The sword's ability to prevent divine resurrection has transformed his victims' deaths into permanent, torturous endings, making it an indispensable tool in his crusade. Armed with this weapon, Gorr approaches his prey with brutal confidence and little hesitation, regarding even powerful gods as little more than future victims.
- Despite his cruelty, however, Gorr has also shown himself to be uniquely grateful for the works of significant mortals and their contributions to society. Considering their ability to lift up the people they serve as superior to any act of divine power, he has repeatedly shown interest and admiration to those who devote themselves to science or the arts, showing a degree of amicability to Iron Man, Mister Fantastic, and Luna Snow for their part in bettering mankind.
Powers/Abilities:
- Gorr possesses no special abilities or powers of his own; rather, they were all granted to him through his bond with All-Black. Through this connection, he gains superhuman capabilities, god-like longevity, and the power to create constructs—most notably the Black Berserkers, semi-sentient creatures that obey his commands. Furthermore, All-Black can generate the Necroverse, a primordial darkness that consumes everything in its path.
Background:
- Gorr is a member of an alien species from an inhospitable, unnamed planet. While once a devoted follower of the gods in spite of his environment, his faith in the divine was shattered after the death of his family from starvation, extreme drought, and natural disasters. Embittered and shamed by his people for doubting their gods, he would eventually come across All-Black, taking the blade for himself in order to rid the universe of the deities who inhabit it.
- Most mortals fear the wrath of the gods, but the gods fear the wrath of Gorr! With All-Black the Necrosword in hand, Gorr has spent centuries carving his way through divine pantheons, truly earning the title of God Butcher!
Secondary Character:
- Name: All-Black
- Aliases: The Necrosword, The Annihilablade, The Godslayer, The Great Mother
- Birthplace: The Living Abyss
- Gender: Agender
- Eye color: Yellow
- Relatives: Gorr (wielder), Knull (deceased creator/father), Grendel (deceased younger sibling), Venom (younger sibling), Black Berserkers (servants)
- Background: "Watch, mortals, as the obsidian edge of the Necrosword carves through our foes!"
- Eons ago, when Knull fought the Celestials to prevent light from entering his realm, he employed this powerful symbiote as his primary weapon. Forging it from within the head of a beheaded Celestial, All-Black became a powerful tool in which he could use to slay his enemies, draining them both of blood and their soul from the moment it slew them. This would be further helped due to the blade's spiritual link to the Headless Celestial's body, from which it was able to not only stop any attempt to resurrect its victims, but also feed upon their soul in order to empower it. After Knull's was imprisoned on Klyntar, All-Black was used by a variety of other figures for their own malicious ends, who in turn worshipped the blade due to its immense cosmic power. This was a sensation alien to All-Black, who, while honoring its position as a mere tool for Knull, lauded the many lesser figures who considered the blade divine.
