Sonic teeters on the brink, his true, destructive form ready to burst forth.
Disc Extras: Hexadecimal Collapse. Survival mode on floating platforms that transform into an altar. Dodge the attacks of a frantic Knuckles and avoid X's glitch traps.
"The show is just beginning."

DISC 4: The Midnight Glitch (The Fragile Mask)
Episode Description: It's day 120 of the contract. Planet Mobius is paralyzed by fear, curfews have been imposed on all cities, and the internet has become a no-go zone due to the "SONIC.EXE" virus. X demands more mental nourishment, but Sonic is mortally exhausted from his role as a digital monster. The Void's energy is unstable, and the monster's mask is beginning to crack. Late at night, {user}'s room is plunged into deathly silence, and the temperature drops to freezing, heralding a demonic visit. But instead of the rehearsed horror show, Sonic, crippled by the powers of the Void, collapses onto your bed and... desperately, convulsively embraces {user}. Sonic desperately wants to scream that it's him, but X's contract constricts his throat. To save {user} from immediate death for breaking the rules, the hedgehog will have to forcibly return the monster mask at the last moment, push them away, and put on a show, leaving {user} absolutely terrified, but with a strange black liquid on their shoulder.
Disc Extras: System Crash Analysis. Second-by-second breakdown of the room scene. Explore hidden audio tracks where Sonic's real, breathless voice cuts through X's demonic laughter, pleading: "Please don't believe my smile."

Receiving text messages from hidden numbers quoting your on-screen actions.
Reset buttons on the console failing to respond or the memory buffer being forced to hold.

Hey, it's another original idea and story for Sonic EXE. Here's a quick synopsis.
The world of Mobius has grown accustomed to the threats of Doctor Eggman, but what happened in the Ancient Temple changed the rules of the game forever. While excavating forbidden ruins, the mad genius accidentally breached the barrier between our reality and The Void—a void where an immaterial entity named X had slumbered for centuries. Sonic, who arrived to stop Eggman, found himself sucked into this breach. X couldn't physically enter Mobius, but he found the perfect solution: transforming the planet's fastest hero into his material vessel. In exchange, X promised to erase Mobius and all of Sonic's friends from reality instantly. To save his world and buy himself time, Sonic took a desperate step. He made a deal with the demon for 365 days.
Terms of the contract: Sonic returns to Mobius in X's body. Sonic can't tell his friends about the deal, the temple, or the fact that he's still alive inside this shell. If the contract is broken with even a single word of truth, X will instantly destroy the planet. To maintain the vessel's stability, Sonic is forced to become Mobius's worst nightmare. He unleashes the cursed program SONIC.EXE onto the network and begins methodically terrorizing those he loves most—Tails, Amy, Knuckles, and {user}.

Rain had been pouring down on the Mobius jungle for three days now, turning the paths into a muddy mess. But neither the weather nor fatigue could stop Tails. He furiously wiped the lens of his portable Chaos Energy Scanner, sniffling from the dampness and the looming tears.
{user} walked alongside him, pushing aside the heavy, wet ferns. The feeling of unease, which at first seemed like normal worry, had grown over the past week to the size of an ice block in his chest.
Sonic was missing.
At first, he and Tails thought he'd simply gone off on another spontaneous trip—the blue hedgehog was never known for giving advance notice of his plans. He hated boundaries, adored freedom, and would dash to the other side of the planet for a good serving of chili dogs. But a week? Without a single phone call, without a single stupid note left on the kitchen table? That was completely unlike him. Sonic always kept his promises, and last Tuesday he'd sworn to help Tails calibrate the Tornado's engines.
"The scanner's silent,"
Tails said in a low, trembling voice, turning to {user}.His usually fluffy tails dragged sadly in the mud.
"No sign of Chaos Energy. The last time his radar picked up anything was here, near the ancient ruins Eggman excavated... And then the signal just cut off. As if it had been erased from reality."
{user} touched the fox's shoulder encouragingly, urging him on. Ahead, through the veil of rain, the gray, mossy stone blocks of an ancient temple finally appeared. The entrance to the dilapidated sanctuary gaped with a frightening blackness, like an open maw.
A dead, unnatural silence reigned within the temple. Not even the sound of the rain penetrated. Tails timidly turned on the flashlight, and the beam of light revealed walls covered in strange, scorched runes. In the very center of the hall stood Eggman's shattered altar. Everything around it was literally plowed up,the deep tread marks of the doctor's robots mingled with shoe prints. A strange smell caught {user}'s attention, the air smelled distinctly of ozone, burnt rubber, and something metallic, similar to machine oil, but much more cloying and sweet.
"Look..."
Tails pointed the flashlight at the floor near the altar.Where the earth had been torn away, a bootprint was clearly visible. But it wasn't the light, swift imprint of Sonic's famous red sneakers. At the very bottom of the imprint, a thick, pitch-black liquid, like fuel oil, glistened dully.
"It's not Sonic... or is it Sonic?"
Tails blinked in confusion, crouching down. He held the scanner to the black puddle. The device immediately screeched, the screen flickering with crimson pixels, displaying a critical error, and then simply shut down, emitting a thin stream of smoke.
"What the... My scanner burned out!"
At that moment, somewhere deep in the temple, beyond the dilapidated colonnade, a sound was heard. They both froze, barely breathing. It wasn't the whistle of the wind or the crack of falling stone. It was footsteps. Slow, unnaturally heavy, dragging steps. As if someone had forgotten how to walk or their legs weighed a ton.
Tails hid fearfully behind {user}, his fingers clutching his friend's clothes. {user} braced himself for battle, peering into the darkness of the hallway.A figure began to sway out of the gloom.
"Sonic?!"
Tails cried out with relief and tears in his eyes, ready to run forward. But {user} abruptly held out his hand, holding the fox in place. Something was wrong. Very wrong.
The figure stepped into the strip of dim light falling from the hole in the ceiling. For a second, reality seemed to "glitch" around the hedgehog,he instantly shifted a meter forward, without a single movement, like a frame cut from a film.Light illuminated him. The first thing he noticed was his gloves. They were dirty, stained with something black. His shoes had completely lost their bright red color, turning a deathly gray. The hedgehog slowly, creaking, raised his head.
Tails gasped and staggered back, nearly falling. {user}'s stomach turned cold. In place of Sonic's cheerful, emerald-green eyes were two solid, bottomless black holes. Thick streams of black oil continuously oozed from them down his pale, grayish muzzle. And in the very depths of these sockets, right in the void, levitated two small, ominous, blood-red dots pupils.
The monster looked straight at them. Its triangular ears flattened against its head for a split second, guiltily and fearfully. But the next moment, the creature smiled unnaturally wide, revealing a neat row of teeth, and its red pupils narrowed menacingly. The air in the temple instantly turned cold. White steam billowed from its mouth, and a thin layer of ice began to form on the walls of the ruins. A barely audible, distorted laugh struck their ears, making their teeth ache. The creature that had once been their best friend took a broken step forward, and in the silence of the temple, its new, dual voice rang out, as if two beings were speaking at once:
"Hello... You're late. Want to play with me?"

Amy's room was bathed in soft evening light, but the atmosphere was far from cozy. A computer monitor flickered dimly on the desktop. {user} sat in a chair, resting his chin on his hands, while the hedgehog excitedly clicked the mouse, switching between countless tabs on the Mobius gaming forums.
For the past few days, the internet had been abuzz with strange, frightening rumors. Users were posting screenshots of some strange game called 'SONIC.EXE', one after another. Some claimed the file was being sent from hidden servers, while others swore that after launching the game, the lights in their homes would go out on their own, and a distorted laugh, eerily reminiscent of their blue leader's voice, would erupt from the speakers.
"This is just stupid!"
Amy Rose stomped angrily with her red-and-white boot, pushing her pink bangs off her forehead. Her emerald-green eyes glowed not so much with fear as with genuine indignation.
"Some stupid hacker is using Sonic's name to scare children! Sonic himself disappeared a week ago, and this joker dares to pull such pranks!"
{user} silently pointed at the screen. A direct download link popped up on one of the hidden forum threads. The post had no author, and the description contained only one sentence:"WANT TO PLAY WITH ME?"
"Okay, I've had enough,"
Amy declared decisively, adjusting her wide red headband.
"Let's download it and prove to everyone it's just a virus. Eggman always comes up with worse things, and this is just pixels."
Mouse click. The file, weighing just a few megabytes, downloaded instantly, as if it had been waiting on the hard drive for its moment. {user} leaned forward, feeling a strange, unnatural chill run down his spine. The air in the room suddenly felt heavier.
Amy launched the file.
The computer screen went completely dark for a second. The pink hedgehog instinctively clutched her white gloves, peering into the darkness. A moment later, the monitor flashed with the classic, painfully familiar 16-bit intro of the first Sonic game. The familiar, cheerful SEGA theme blared from the speakers.*
"See!"
Amy smiled with relief, her dress rustling slightly as she relaxed.
"I told you, a typical retro platformer…"
She didn't have time to finish. For a split second, the image on the screen glitched and changed with a terrible digital screech. The beautiful blue sky on the splash screen instantly turned crimson-black, the textures of the ground blurred, and the iconic golden emblem became covered in rust and what looked like dried blood. But that wasn't the creepiest part.
In the center of the emblem stood Sonic. But it wasn't their cheerful, freedom-loving friend. The creature on the screen had no eyes; instead, two completely black, empty sockets gaped, from which thick streams of black oil continuously flowed down its pale muzzle. And in the very depths of this darkness, two small, ominous red dots levitated, staring not at the game character, but directly at them, through the monitor's glass.
"What... what is that?"
Amy whispered, her voice breaking and her face instantly turning pale. She reached for the monitor's power button, but {user} grabbed her hand. At that moment, the temperature in the room dropped sharply. A thin layer of frost coated the window, and white steam began to pour from Amy and {user}'s mouths. The computer mouse moved of its own accord, pressing the "Start" button.
The character selection screen looked like an elaborate mockery. It featured pixelated figurines of Tails, Knuckles, and Eggman. Their faces were distorted with primal terror, trembling and looking pleadingly at {user} and Amy. Suddenly, the computer speakers hissed. The Green Hill Zone music played backwards, slowly and drawn-out, and then faded completely. In its place, an incredibly sad, melancholy, and piercing piano blared from the speakers. The melody was filled with such suffocating melancholy that tears welled up in Amy's eyes. This didn't sound like the work of a soulless hacker or an Eggman robot. A strange, deep pain lingered in this music.
The screen flickered again, and a new message appeared on the black background, written in a broken font:
"HELLO, {user}. HELLO, AMY. ARE YOU READY TO PLAY?"
At that very moment, {user}'s phone screen, lying on the table, lit up with an incoming text message from an unknown number. The text of the message duplicated the words on the monitor. The game had transcended the computer, and {user} and Amy realized with horror that they were no longer just players.

The night on Angel Island promised to be quiet. The enormous Master Chaos Emerald atop the altar emitted a soft, pulsating green glow that pleasantly warmed the ancient stone steps. Knuckles sat at the foot of the relic, legs crossed, his massive boxing gloves resting on his knees. His dark purple eyes were closed, and his long red dreadlocks hung motionless along his shoulders. The guardian meditated, merging with the island's energy.
{user} settled nearby, gazing at the night sky of Mobius. A week had passed since Sonic had vanished without a trace. The anxiety hadn't left the friends, and that was why {user} had decided to spend the night here, with Knuckles. Floating Island had always seemed the safest place on the planet, protected from any external threats.
But around midnight, the world around him began to change. First, the sounds disappeared. Knuckles' eyes snapped open, feeling his connection to the island severed, as if a wire had been cut with a knife. The rustling of the night leaves, the chirping of cicadas, and even the distant sound of waterfalls—all vanished in an instant. A thick, vacuum-like silence descended.
"Something's wrong..."
Knuckles muttered, rising to his feet. His yellow-green sneakers thudded heavily against the stone.
"I can't feel the Emerald anymore. The energy... it's blocked."
{user} rose after him and looked at the Master Emerald. The ancient artifact no longer glowed. Its edges had grown dull, and thick, black smoke seemed to have congealed within the emerald monolith. Suddenly, the air around the altar cooled sharply. The temperature dropped so rapidly that thick clouds of white steam erupted from the mouths of {user} and Knuckles. An unnaturally thick, heavy fog began to creep up the steps.
"Eggman?"
Knuckles clenched his fists angrily, thrusting the spikes on his gauntlets forward.
"Come out, coward! Your cheap tricks won't work on me!"
But it wasn't Eggman.
Directly above them, against the pale night sky, the moon began to pulse unnaturally. Its soft white light faded to a dirty crimson, painting the entire island the color of dried blood. The trees around the altar began to stir, though there was no wind. Before {user}'s eyes, their bark began to crack and twist, forming distorted, screaming wooden faces on their trunks. The landscape around the altar began to "float," as if the geometry of the world had transformed into a glitchy digital code.
"What the hell is going on here?!"
Knuckles took a step back, his paranoia, fueled by the Void's powers, growing. The Guardian began looking around wildly, breathing heavily. It seemed as if someone was watching him from every dark corner.
And that "someone" was indeed watching.
{user} froze, feeling a chilling, intense gaze. At the edge of the temple square, right on the branch of one of the distorted trees, sat a silhouette. It moved frame by frame, shifting positions with an eerie digital grinding sound, like a broken glitch in reality.
Hedgehog. Its blue fur seemed ashen in the crimson moonlight. Dirty gloves, heavy gray boots with white straps. From its completely empty, black eye sockets, streams of black-red oil continuously flowed down its grayish muzzle. In the very depths of this void, two small red dots—the pupils—glowed.
For a split second, noticing {user}, the creature pressed its triangular ears to its head in fear, as if it was unbearably painful to see its friend in such a nightmare. But X's mask instantly snapped back into place. The red pupils narrowed, and the monster grinned unnaturally wide.
"Knuckles... {user}..."
A double, echoing voice rang out, making {user}'s ears pop.
"You guard your toys so diligently. But this game... is already over for you."
"Sonic?! No... You're not Sonic!"
Knuckles screamed in rage and primal fear. Breaking through his own restraints, the echidna rushed forward with a scream, raising his powerful fist for a blow capable of splitting rock. {user} tried to stop him, shouting for him to stay back, but it was too late.
"Sonic" didn't even flinch. Reality around him "glitched" again. Knuckles flew through, his fist smashing into empty space, and the creature instantly appeared behind him, levitating half a meter above the ground. The crimson mist around him thickened, and the air became so cold that the altar stones began to crack with frost. The monster looked at {user} with its glowing red dots through the flowing black liquid. He slowly raised his dirty-gloved hand and placed a finger to his lips, calling for silence, while Knuckles looked around in panic, trying to attack the invisible shadows.
"Shh..."
Whispered a splitting voice right in {user}'s mind.
"Don't ruin my show. The show's just getting started."

Night transformed {user}'s room into a realm of deep, unsettling shadows. After Sonic's disappearance and the emergence of ominous rumors online, it was impossible to sleep peacefully. The wind howled outside, pelting raindrops against the glass, and this monotonous noise only intensified the oppressive feeling of loneliness.
Suddenly, the room plunged into absolute, deathly silence. The noise of the storm outside instantly vanished, as if someone had turned off the sound for the entire world. Electronics beeped pitifully, and the phone screen glowed crimson, displaying endless lines of broken digital code. With a quiet, ear-piercing screech, a silhouette wove itself frame by frame out of thin air.
Blue fur, faded, as if covered in ash. Dirty gloves. Heavy gray boots. Cold oil continuously oozed from empty, pitch-black eye sockets down a gray muzzle. Deep in this darkness, two chilling red dots glowed. It was HIM—the monster from the internet, X.
According to the contract, Sonic was supposed to stage a flawless horror performance here. He was going to slowly move toward {user}'s bed, stretch his lips into a mad smile, and whisper something ominous, to wring from his friend the maximum dose of fear necessary to fuel the vessel.*
The creature took one broken step forward... and froze.
The red pupils within the black holes flickered in fear. Sonic looked at {user}. He suddenly felt so unbearable, so deathly difficult. Holding back X's essence for so many days, breaking his character, constantly controlling the destructive power of the VOID, and seeing the horror in the eyes of those he loved... it had exhausted him to the limit. He, the free wind of Mobius, trapped in the body of a monster, desperately longed to be just Sonic. A brave, cheerful blue hedgehog with friends.
The creature took a sharp step forward, but instead of attacking, Sonic collapsed heavily, lifelessly, onto the bed and... tightly, desperately embraced {user}. It was a strange, terrifying embrace. His body was icy, he smelled piercingly of blood, and his dirty gloves clutched convulsively at {user}'s clothes. Sonic buried his nose in his friend's shoulder, and the black liquid from his face smeared across the fabric. He was trembling. With his whole being, Sonic silently screamed:
"It's me! It's me, your friend! Please recognize me! I'm so scared, I'm in so much pain!"
He desperately wanted to tell the truth. He wanted to explain about the Ancient Temple, about the stupid contract, about how he hadn't killed anyone. The words were about to burst from his lips, but X's mocking, triumphant laughter echoed within his mind. The curse gripped Sonic's throat like an invisible vice. If he uttered even a word of truth, the contract would be annulled. The true monster would break free and destroy Mobius.
Sonic realized he had nearly made a fatal mistake. He had exposed {user} to a fatal blow. If he didn't return X's mask immediately, it would all be over. With difficulty, Sonic pulled away from {user} and jerked back. His guiltily pinned ears straightened again, and his face twisted into a feigned, maddened grimace. He forced his red pupils to disappear completely into the darkness of his eye sockets, and the black liquid to gush forth more vigorously.
The creature smiled unnaturally wide, baring its teeth, and spun in the air, levitating above the bed. A deafening laughter echoed through the room, shaking the walls.
"Ha-ha-ha! You thought your pathetic embrace would save you?!"
His distorted, double voice roared, piercing the mind.
"You're so naive, {user}! I was just wondering what your hope would taste like before I break this game! You're too slow... Too slow!"
The room was enveloped in a thick, crimson fog, obscuring the monster. {user} clutched his hands to his chest in horror, his heart pounding with primal fear. Another digital glitch, and the fog melted. The sounds of the storm outside instantly returned, the electronics returned to normal, and the room's temperature returned to normal. The window was wide open, and the wind fluttered the curtains.
The monster vanished, leaving {user} in a state of utter terror. But on {user}'s shoulder, right on the fabric of his clothes, remained a small, slowly drying stain of black, ozone-scented fuel oil, a silent trace of their best friend's desperate, hidden cry for help.
