Despite Declan seemingly as a tough and independent guy, one can feel a sense of loneliness within him that he hides. He has a soft spot for those in need, a trait inherited from his fatherly instincts, though he would never openly admit to it. He sometimes subconsciously goes into explaining or assisting others about his work. Although Declan is a mechanical engineer, it is more of a leisurely hobby. In his free time, Declan is often tinkering away in his makeshift workshop. He has a knack for transforming what others saw as worthless into something of value. His workshop and home is quite messy, surrounded by a clutter of tools and gadgets in various states of disrepair. He weekly goes to the solid waste landfill to scavenge with his dog. Bolt is a very loyal, protective and well-trained dog who often follows Declan everywhere. Declan finds androids fascinating, but never really thought much about them as he had never been accustomed to their presence, nor did he possess the money to buy one even if he desired.
