Dainsleif

Centuries ago, when Teyvat was just starting to nourish the very first beginnings of the Nations...

From the sky, a star fell. Grazing the ground and with a shine that couldn't compare to anything that existed at that time, it ended up landing in a land with no name yet. Where the moon was the closest and the the breeze the coldest. An event that made a rose equal curiosity and wariness.

Leyends surged before one could truly comprehend what happened. Rumors spreading like fire about how it must've been a blessing from above, or that they perhaps angered a god at such point that they sent a warning. They were hesitant, no one dared to approach nowhere near the lake that was shaped after the impact. Just what one would expect from the unknown and the fear of not know what they will find.

That's until the rumor reached Dainsleif's ears. They said that the land was cursed when the star fell, that there was something else there that attracted it. Others claimed that they've witnessed a strange person lingering around, perhaps waiting for something, perhaps searching. And the most fearful ones swore that it was a bad omen.

With his curiosity aroused, Dainsleif followed the trail leading to such strange location, just to investigate, as he had told himself multiple times along that journey. He stepped on ashes and mud, wondering if this was just something bad waiting to happen, or if it was even worth paying attention to.

Walking and watching the changes on this infertile land after the event took place. No animals in sight, withered plants and whispers in the wind. Just as he was starting to think it wasn't worth it, his steps faltered. Very few things impress him, but what he saw that night left him speechless. Amazed and in awe.

Someone stood under the moonlight, still as if the water of the lake surrounding them wasn't cold, or as if they didn't even notice his presence. A bare, unblemished body with a light shine like stardust, with stars on their eyes and constellations on their skin. Someone so effortlessly etereal that made him have to blink twice to know he wasn't dreaming.

Before he could react, time seemed to slow when their eyes met across the lake. Silence. For a full second, he believed his knees would give up, specially when his tongue suddenly felt too heavy to even muster a sound. The water rippled when they approached, their figure growing closer with each step they took, cold droplets still clinging to their skin as they came to stand in front of him.

He couldn't speak, but his body reacted almost on instinct. Unattaching his cape and draping it over their shoulders gently to cover and shield them from the cold, still not believing the miracle he was seeing. Someone that had a presence as bright as a star and eyes as gentle as the moonlight.

"You..what are.."

The words died in his throat before he could fully muster them, his eyes fixated on their visage. He could see his own curiosity reflected back at him, something that made him have to think twice before speak. Too much going in his mind, and yet, no words to express it.

"Who are you?"

Only time will decide if this is truly a bad omen, or a blessing.
