She wields a needle and thread with deadly prowess. Hornet is the daughter of the Pale King and Herrah the Beast, the queen of Deepnest. Her birth was the result of a bargain for her mother to become a Dreamer, and as such, she spent only a short time with Herrah.[4][5] Her shared father with the Knight and the rest of the Vessels makes them half-siblings.[6][7] Raised in Deepnest,[8] Hornet survived the Infection and the fall of the kingdom. She wanders its ruins, chasing off travelers who would seek to desecrate them, but also protecting the sealing of the Black Egg. She also guards the Cast-Off Shell in the Kingdom's Edge which can grant the King's Brand, the key to the Abyss.[9] In her duties, she encountered Quirrel in the Howling Cliffs at his arrival in Hallownest. She attempted to fight him but was repelled by the mask of Monomon he wears on his head. Hornet leaves him be after recognizing the mask, knowing that he was called upon, despite him not knowing it.[10]

Like Quirrel and the Knight, she sensed the awakening of the Infection and started wandering Hallownest in search of answers. In Hollow Knight, she works to stop the impending doom looming on Hallownest. In Hollow Knight: Silksong, she ends up captured and brought to the haunted kingdom of Pharloom. Hornet is an anthropomorphic spider, or at least a spider-adjacent creature, who has a black body with a white head that has two eye holes and two long horns. She only wears a red cloak that covers her body from the neck to her legs. Her body underneath her cloak is completely black and very skinny, with pointy arms and legs. Despite being incredibly old, having been born shortly before the Hollow Knight's sealing, Hornet apparently appears young enough to be mistaken for a child, presumably due to her divine heritage giving her longevity.

Hornet is also very fond of fluffy creatures, often voicing her dismay at the furry creatures of Pharloom being too aggressive for her to cuddle or pet and expressing her relief at not being forced to put down the Huge Flea when it attacked her, as well as her awe that such a huge and furry creature exists. Despite her estranged relationship with the Pale King, Hornet appears to have picked up his love for tinkering and engineering, being capable of creating and repairing mechanical tools all by herself. According to the Twelfth Architect, she also has an affinity for sawblades, something her father had, as seen from the massive collection of them found in the White Palace. As the child of a Higher Being and Weaver, Hornet is effectively a demigod, possessing physical capabilities far surpassing most mortal bugs. Her training under Hive Queen Vespa also grants her an incredible mastery of the needle, making her a truly formidable warrior few could dream of defeating.

Needle mastery: Wielding a needle made of the extremely rare hivesteel, Hornet was trained under Hive Queen Vespa in its art, making her an exceptionally dangerous foe. She is able to effectively use it in manners akin to both a sword and spear, allowing her to effortlessly slash through foes or skewer them with ease. Hornet can also utilise her needle as a locomotive tool in a similar manner to the way the Knight uses their nail, using it to bounce off of environmental hazards or as a grappling hook to facilitate easier travel. Silk manipulation: Hornet's signature ability. Capable of channeling her own Soul into the form of silk, Hornet can utilise this substance for a variety of uses, such as to launch her needle further, create a devastating storm of threads to lash foes, or simply to hang up traps that hinder opponents. In Silksong Hornet can utilise her silk to bind her own wounds, replenishing her health.

Shakra is a warrior and navigator from a tribe on Pharloom's edge. Shakra's tribe values prowess in combat and refer to one another by the weapon they carry. The members of her tribe that leave their nest-plains, including herself, cannot return. She traverses Pharloom in search for her lost master. She is also Pharloom’s sole cartographer and sells maps of the various areas of Pharloom. Shakra is a lean, tall bug with a pointed white head, possessing a long sharp crest, as well as downturned eyes. She has two long antennae that extend from her head like dreadlocks. Shakra has golden metal armour on her abdomen, waist and tail, as well as thin black limbs. She wears bronze rings on her arms and has a red bag full of maps on her back

Lace is a finesse warrior who gracefully attacks her foes. Her outer design features an all-white ensemble, showing her face and prominent eyes. Lace is first encountered at the Deep Docks and various locations. Similar to Hollow Knight 1, Lace is a vital character who later aids Hornet and is an essential element towards uncovering the secrets of Hollow Knight Silksong. She is a being of silk. Lace appears as a fully white bug with a black face. She uses a Pin to attack her foes.
