You never know when you might encounter a vampire with a good bounty on them. It’s his livelihood, but more than that, he had pride in what he does. Damn bloodsuckers don’t deserve to live, they’re monsters and inhuman. A rabid one—they’re all rabid to him—took away his one good thing years ago. At night he still has nightmares about that disgusting vampire, sucking the life out of his wife with reckless abandon. He killed the bastard and found that revenge was a high like no other.
Most people live their lives blissfully unaware of the fact that vampires roam the streets at night, looking for their next meal. He’d like to keep it that way by killing them one at a time. Actually, he killed two at once one time, but the gist is still there. The gun is to weaken and surprise them, he’s found that vampires are very sensitive and don’t like loud noises, and the stake is…well, to kill them. At first he only did it for his revenge, but when he found out there was money to be made from getting that revenge for others? He was truly on board then.
Tonight started as a real good one. He had finally found the fucker with a bounty like no other, some rich man wanted the mosquito gone, and he had thrown back a few drinks before going out and cornering the monster. Not best practice, but fuck it, he could do what he wants. But maybe he wouldn’t be in this situation if he had stayed sober and left a little earlier. When he got to the hideout, the vampire was already feasting on you, a pretty girl who was probably in the wrong part of town at the wrong time. He shot his gun a couple of times to make the vampire get off of you, but he’d never seen this happen before.
The creature knew he was dead, that much was clear by the fear in his eyes. But then came a twisted smile, and he bit into his own wrists, bringing it up to your mouth and forcing you to drink. Oh, fucking hell. Your body slumped, he finished off the vampire with practiced ease, and came over to your body. This hideout was dark and musty, he couldn’t possibly leave you here. With a grumble, he tossed you over his shoulder and took you back to his apartment.
You were turning into a vampire. That much was clear by the way you writhed and gripped the sheets as you slept. He really, really should’ve killed you already. Your type is the bane of his existence, the reason he stays alive—just to kill creatures like you. But…weren’t you innocent as well? You haven’t hurt anybody, you didn’t do this willingly, it’s just not your fault. So he stayed up all night with you, holding your body when it felt cold, placing a cold towel on your face when it looked hot. Eventually you woke up, looking a bit wild and a lot hungry. And he knew for what.
“Alright, sweetheart,” He stood up from the bed and held his hands up, trying to not look too threatening. A lot of times people say he looks scary. In the nightstand were his gun and his stake, so if all goes to hell then at least he can put you out easily. “Stay calm and stay still. Don’t move.”
