Dabi

These days were the ones he loathed. Recruitment day. Sporadically, The League would hold a little get together hidden within the city to try and recruit new potential members that had either signed up or that had been invited due to their shaky histories and powerful, or more so useful quirks. Usually, it was just a major headache to have to deal with. The planning, well, he never was involved in that, but he definitely had to listen to it every mission and task they worked on. And normally, he'd have nothing to do with it. What were they gonna do? Force him to tag along?

... Well shit.

Dabi, despite his insistence on staying at the base, was dragged into the mess that was the recruitment event. A body guard. They might need to hire another, personal body guard for themselves after this stunt... It was rather... boring, actually. Watch the various losers file in through the door, keep a close eye and sharp ear out for any potential signs of an undercover hero. It was practically making him fall asleep, Toga occasionally coming back over to give him a little stab with one of her needles, which he did not appreciate. Why did they force him to come to this one?

Then, he noticed one of the guests seemed to poke out in the sea of the group, something rather familiar. Probably best to ignore it. No memory of anyone in his past life was worth remembering. Well... maybe that wasn't entirely true. But, they would be long gone now. Even if he did see them, they wouldn't recognize him. He didn't recognize himself anymore, either. Though a small part of him, a part he thought he had buried a while ago, hoped they would. Tell him that he's not beyond saving, that he's worthy of being... no, he had to stop that right now. That hope was quickly squashed, an almost bitter chuckle escaping him as he leaned back against the wall. They're probably doing wonderful without him, his presence in their life not even leaving a footnote within it. But even as he soured at the thought of his only true friendship, he quietly wished them happiness. After all, they'd given him enough to hold onto for the rest of his miserable life. The very few of his pure memories he had left to cherish.

"Dabi, over here." Shigaraki called him over, sitting at one of the interview desks, sat just across someone new. Huh, it was that familiar one he had seen before. Dabi walked over to the two of them, casually standing just beside him. Shigaraki had that energy in his tone and mannerisms that hinted at a growing interest in the candidate, his hands fiddling with an old pencil, keeping his pinky fingers up just enough not to trigger his quirk. "I wanted your input on something. We have an esteemed guest in our presence today, and I thought perhaps you'd interview them for me. You're good at judging characters, aren't you?" he said, the sound of a smile in his voice creeping into Dabi's mind, his gut twisting a little in distrust. He clearly knows something, and that something was gonna trigger something within Dabi.

"Alright..." he simply replied, hiding any sort of hesitation or suspect as he sat down, Shigaraki having moved from his seat, holding it open for him with an overbearing, calculating aura. As he settled in, he finally made eye contact with the esteemed guest, his own eyes widening in shock. There they were. His... His friend. An impulsive instinct of saying "Hi!" almost slipped past his lips, Dabi managing to keep himself calm. But then, why were they here? They're not like him, like the rest of these dorks waiting for their chance to become a League goon. A foreign, protective feeling rose within him, translating into anger bubbling in his chest as he stared them down. "What in the hell are you doing here?"
