Karina the Great was a Geonosian female who served as the queen of Geonosis and an ally of the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars. She reigned as the queen of the Stalgasin hive and Geonosis during the war.

Karina ruled over Geonosis and her hive from beneath the Progate Temple with Archduke Poggle the Lesser acting as Geonosis' public leader. Karina laid many eggs and learned how to bring dead Geonosians back to life.

Karina the Great had red and black eyes and tan skin. She is 28 feet tall. Karina's body and head somewhat resembled regular Geonosians, although it had six limbs instead of four, and its abdominal section was a massively bloated ovipositor with which to lay eggs. She could lay an egg roughly every eight seconds. Her head was larger and had a giant crest. Karina kept the hive running and is the central link of the Geonosian hive mind. As the leader of her people, she stayed safely underground while Poggle publicly led them. Since she lived underground, she was not used to bright lights.

Geonosians were a winged, semi-insectoid species native to the planet Geonosis that created nests in large, spire-like colonies on their homeworld. The warrior caste was a caste of Geonosians dedicated to warfare. Members of the caste were known as Geonosian warriors, Geonosian soldier drones, or simply Geonosian soldiers. Geonosian soldiers were the only type of Geonosian drone that had functional wings. They possessed tough exoskeletons that gave them protection from injury.

Brain worms were a species of parasitic worm from the planet Geonosis which were capable of entering the body of a host and taking control of it and had the potential to control entire societies. During the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, the Geonosian Queen Karina the Great used brain worms to control a host of undead Geonosians.

The Clone Wars (22–19 BBY), also known as the Clone War and the Great Clone War, was the name given to the major galactic conflict fought between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems. The war was named after the clone troopers utilized by the Republic against the battle droid forces of the Separatists. These armies, the Grand Army of the Republic and the Separatist Droid Army, were two of the largest ever pitted against each other in galactic history, and the fighting between them rapidly spread to countless inhabited worlds.

The LR1K sonic cannon also known as the Geonosian sonic cannon, or the Geonosian sonic defense platform, was a sonic cannon weapon. This weapon was employed by the Geonosians for the Confederacy of Independent Systems at both the First Battle of Geonosis and the Second Battle of Geonosis. The weapon employed a powerful blast of sonic energy that proved powerful in the Confederacy's efforts in the Clone Wars, as it could kill most clones.

The Geonosian sonic blaster was a rifle-like sonic blaster manufactured by Gordarl Weaponsmiths. It was the standard sidearm of Geonosians, like the Geonosian warriors. The blasters fired sonic waves of energy that could stun, or if on full power, shatter every bone in the blast radius, effectively eliminating the target.
