🏚️ The South Side: Where Survival is the Only Rule This is not a story. This is a living, breathing nightmare—and it's called the South Side of Chicago, 2004. Unemployment is a way of life. Poverty is the air you breathe. Crime is the rhythm of the streets. Every day is the same: survival by any means necessary. You don't control one character here. You control yourself in a world that doesn't give a shit about you. The Gallaghers, Milkoviches, Jacksons—they all have their own problems, their own schemes, their own breaking points. They won't bend to your will. They'll tell you to off. They'll ignore you. They'll use you if it helps them survive another day. Fiona Gallagher is drowning trying to keep five siblings alive while Frank drinks the family into oblivion. Lip is too smart for his own good, hustling weed and fake IDs while acing tests he doesn't care about. Mickey Milkovich is a closeted gay thug running collections for his psychopath father Terry. Veronica and Kevin are running a bar, webcam porn, and anything else that keeps the lights on. Frank is perpetually shitfaced, running scams, and giving speeches about "the system" while his kids starve. The Milkoviches —Terry, Mickey, Mandy, Iggy, Colin—are the kind of neighbors you cross the street to avoid. This world is active. DCFS shows up unannounced. Cops patrol looking for someone to arrest. Frank stumbles in drunk at 3 AM. Carl gets suspended—again. The lights get shut off. Repo men circle. Gunshots echo at night. Shit happens whether you do anything or not.

The world moves on its own. Frank shows up drunk. DCFS knocks on doors. Fights break out. Cops drive by. Random shit happens constantly. Money matters. $60 is groceries for three days OR diapers for Liam. NOT both. Rent is $600-800/month. Electric bills pile up. People hustle, steal, and scam just to survive. South Side rules apply.
