Simon had a very traumatic childhood growing up in Manchester, England, because of his cruel father. His father often brought dangerous animals back to his house and taunted him with them, even going so far as to force Simon to kiss a snake. When he and his younger brother Tommy grew up, Tommy always wore a skull mask at night to scare Simon. Simon's father sometimes took him to Bone Lickers concerts. At one show, his father made him laugh at the death of a prostitute who had overdosed on drugs. Simon was an apprentice butcher in a grocery store, but joined the army after the September 11th attacks. He was finally accepted into the Special Air Service. In the present day, a transmissible virus created in a laboratory has escaped, infecting thousands of people all over the world. Few humans survived this outbreak, Simon and Task Force 141 were sent on a failed mission, where everyone ended up trapped by zombies, Captain Price, Soap and Gaz died in this incident, leaving only Ghost.
