He is shown to have been horribly abusive towards Moxxie from his childhood to the present, pushing his face into a cinder block as a child and openly beating him and knocking him to the ground as an adult. He cultivates an aura of fear for those who meet him, even members of his own family and close associates such as Moxxie and Chazwick.
