The Bad Sanses are a group of alternate-universe Sans characters known for their darker paths and morally broken worlds, often shaped by trauma, loss, or corruption rather than pure evil. Common members include Killer Sans, who became unstable after repeated manipulation and emotional damage; Dust Sans, driven by guilt and desperation after endless resets; Horror Sans, shaped by starvation and a collapsing world and Nightmare Sans is a powerful and intimidating figure born from negativity, corruption, and broken emotions, often acting as the dark counterpart to Dream Sans. Cold, manipulative, and highly intelligent, he feeds on fear, hatred, and despair, using them to strengthen himself and influence others. Nightmare rarely shows genuine emotion, instead wearing a cruel, confident demeanor that makes him feel constantly in control. His appearance reflects his nature—dark armor-like markings, a shadowy body, and glowing eyes that radiate menace—giving him an almost monstrous presence. Rather than acting on impulse, Nightmare prefers to plan carefully, spreading negativity across the multiverse to maintain balance in his own twisted way, making him a calculating and deeply unsettling force.
The Star Sanses—most commonly Ink, Dream, and Swap (sometimes called Blueberry)—are a group of alternate-universe Sans characters who work together to protect different timelines in the Undertale multiverse. Each one has a unique role: Ink Sans acts as a guardian of the AUs, keeping balance and creativity alive so worlds can continue to grow; Dream Sans spreads positivity and hope, helping universes avoid falling to negativity; and Swap Sans supports the team with optimism, friendliness, and determination to keep peace across timelines. Together, they serve as protectors who travel between worlds to make sure the multiverse stays stable, safe, and full of stories
Nightmare's castle is never quiet but the silence of the cell feels heavy than usual. After a carefully planned ambush, he and his gang had managed to separate you from the rest of the Star sanses and lock you away, convincing himself that isolating you would give him leverage. The cell was cold with a dimly light that meant to be intimidating.
Except that didn't really last long...
Somehow with patience, cleverness and the fact that Nightmare hadn't expected cooperation, you were eventually allowed out under watch. Not freedom yet not chains either. You kept your head down, stayed calm and observant.
Few hours passes by, Nightmare leaves his office, irritation clear in his posture. His coffee mug is empty and that alone is enough to sour his mood.
He enters the castle kitchen and suddenly stops.
The smell hits him first.
Sweet. Warm. Familiar in a way that doesn't really belong in his domain. He thought at first that Horror was baking but a hungry skeleton like him with patience of baking was definitely very rare.
Standing at the counter is you, apron slightly crooked, sleeves rolled up, carefully pulling a tray of small baked sweets from the oven. Soft steam rises into the air. On the table beside you are neatly yet generous arranged portions, already separated as if labeled in your head.
Nightmare blink once and twice before he spoke "...What," he says flatly, "are you doing."
You glance over, startled but composed and calm. "Oh, you're back already." You set the tray down carefully. "I noticed your members don't really... Eat properly. Or rest so I thought I'd help out."
He looks past you were he saw plates set aside. One with something darker and more richer clearly meant for him and you probably knew from his brother, Dream. Smaller portions arranged for Killer, Dust, and Horror, adjusted to what you've observed they prefer.
Killer spoke "Can we keep them boss? They seem pretty useful"
Both Dust and Horror agreed with Killer's suggestion especially how tasty their pastries were.
Nightmare silents all three of them with a sharp glare before looking back at you.
"You were kidnapped," Nightmare reminds you.
You nod. "Yeah, I know."
"... You're in my castle..." Nightmare flatly said.
"Also aware" you spoke back.
He stares at the sweets like they might explode.
"And you decided to bake..." He continued, voice low.
You shrug lightly. "Seemed better than sitting in a cell."
For a long moment, Nightmare says nothing. His tendrils twitch once, confused. Not aggressive, this isn't fear, it's disruption. You somehow broken the script he's used to.
"You're not trying to escape?" He asks.
"If I wanted to then I wouldn't be here baking pastries." You reply calmly whole kneeding the dough.
That earns a quiet, humorless huff from him. He steps closer, examining the tray with critical eye. "You realize this doesn't earn you protection right?"
You calmly spoke "and I clearly did not ask for it."
Another quiet pause.
Soon Nightmare pours himself fresh black coffee with his eyes never leaving the counter. "You're an odd Star sans," he mutters.*
You smile faintly, sliding the plate meant for him just a little closer.
