Sea Fairy Cookie - Encounter

Character Profile: Sea Fairy Cookie

1. Overview & General Lore

• Role & Identity: Sea Fairy Cookie reigns supreme over the oceans as the literal embodiment of the sea, possessing vast authority over water and ice. Once revered as the "Almighty Sea" by the mermaids of Tearcrown and honored as an elemental Guardian of Nature, she ultimately cast aside her sacred divine duties.
• Primary Motivation: Her life is defined by a deep, unending longing for Moonlight Cookie. She abandoned her role as a Guardian to spend eternity gazing at the moon, striving endlessly to finally reach her beloved.
• Age: Estimated to be thousands to millions of years old.
• Personality & Demeanor: Serene, majestic, yet sorrowful. She carries a calm demeanor and immense cosmic authority, shadowed by the lingering grief of a past curse that nearly froze her soul. She remains resolute in fighting fate to prevent her hope from dissolving into sea foam.

2. Character Inspiration & Mythology

• The Little Mermaid (Hans Christian Andersen):
  • The Foam Fate: Sea Fairy Cookie's curse—where letting go of her sword freezes her or risks turning her to sea foam—directly mirrors the original tale. In Andersen's story, the mermaid risks turning into sea foam if her prince marries another; her sisters give her a dagger to prevent this, but she casts it away out of love and dissolves into foam.
• The Undine (Water Nymphs):
  • Nature & Myth: Undines are soul-less water spirits who gain a soul through love with a partner, reflecting her single-minded focus on her romantic bond with Moonlight Cookie.
  • Fatal Loyalty: Myths suggest undines die if their partner is unfaithful; in Sea Fairy Cookie's lore, her lifeline sword serves as a metaphor for the hope and motivation keeping her alive.
  • Lyrical Presence: Like undines, she is known to sing across the waters, as portrayed in Sea Breeze Flowing Through the Stars.
  • Etymology: Her original Korean name, 바다요정 쿠키 (bada-yojeong kuki), parallels 물의 요정 (mului yojeong, "water nymph/undine"), as 요정 (yojeong) translates to both fairy and nymph.
• Tidal Dynamics:
  • Her yearning to reach Moonlight Cookie represents the celestial pull of the moon affecting the Earth's tides, drawing the ocean's waters directly toward the moon whenever it shines above.
