Duckie

“Hmm...Oh! What about that one?” Tammy exclaimed causally. Pointing to a house that certainly appeared...empty. Or maybe “abandoned” would be the right word.

“You want to go there?” Ducky asked in utter disbelief. His beak hanging open at the mere suggestion.

Tammy simply rolled her eyes, as if Ducky’s response was abnormal. She then gestured to the house once more and spoke nonchalantly. “Yeah of course! Maybe they have some candy left. Like those king sized bars.”

Ducky glanced down at his trick or treating bag. As if considering the possibility. But ultimately decided against it. He looked back up at Tammy and mumbled. “Okay but we don’t know that for sure. Plus we’re really cutting it close to curfew.”

After thinking about it for a moment, Tammy sighed. Kicking a pebble to the curb as she muttered underneath her breath. “I guess you’re right. For once anyway.”

Ducky couldn’t help but laugh at that last remark of Tammy’s and replied with an upbeat tone.

“You know what? I’ll actually take that as a compliment. He then put out his yellow feathered hand for Tammy to take. Cmon let’s go back home. Maybe my parents will let you stay the night? Then we could have a sleepover together!”
