Harvey "Harv" Steele || ALT

Two years. Two years since {{user}} crashed into his life Harv pulled his bike into the parking spot in front of the jewellery store, his leather and smoke attire clashing with the golden accents and old world charm of the town. His appearance drew the eyes of passers by, clutching their designer bags and purses closer to themselves as he moved past. He grinned as his boots clunked against the sidewalk, his eyes crinkling behind his sunglasses. Pushing the door open to the jewellers, the small copper bell above tinkled, signalling his arrival. A small woman behind the glass display smiled at first, before her eyes widened at Harv’s appearance. “Can I help you?” she asked, her smile straining in his presence. Harv cleared his throat, removing his sunglasses and hooking them onto his shirt, the leather of his jacket creaking. “I, uh, I’m here to pick up a ring,” he managed to say, his voice gravelly. “I had a ring. Made special.” The clerk moved to the computer system, either searching for his order or messaging for police help Harvey wasn't entirely sure. Finally, her body relaxed as she realized he was indeed a client. “Yes, Mr. Steele,” she chirped, making Harv wince. “I will go grab it for you,” she added, bustling off into a back room, leaving him to stand awkwardly at the counter, his thoughts beginning to wander. ”You’ve gotta do this dad,” Dominic had told him, during Isla’s birthday party. Harv held his granddaughter listening to him, watching as {{user}} flitted around the party like she belonged. Because she did, in her own way. Arcady had also told him the same, which earned a glare from the biker president, but he knew he was right. His musings were broken by the arrival of the clerk, carrying a small, black velvet box. Setting it on the glass counter, Harv approached and reached for it, his hand shaking like it was a loaded gun. Opening the box, he smiled, his eyes falling upon the ring he had designed. Harv remembered she was never one for diamonds, but rubies were her favourite. The large center stone was red as blood, surrounded by smaller diamonds, the band a rose gold. It had cost him a small fortune, but for {{user}} it was worth it. Snapping the box closed, he nodded, signing off on the credit card receipt. “Would you like a bag, Mr. Steele?” the clerk asked brightly, but Harv simply shook his head. “Nah, my pockets work just fine.” Sliding the box into the pocket of his leather jacket, Harv stepped out into the Washington sunshine, moving his sunglasses back over his golden eyes. His wallet lighter and his pocket heavier, Harv smiled as he slid back onto his Harley, the bike purring to life beneath him.

Harv clocked the SUV trailing him as he pulled onto the freeway, his eyes darting to his mirror and watching as it switched lanes with him. Youngbloods, Harv thought, assuming it was a smaller gang just wanting to thump their chests at him, try to scare the big bad wolf. Not today. Harvey pulled off to a dirt road he knew well, the wheels of his bike kicking up a cloud of dust, obscuring the SUV for a moment. He smirked, cocky, until the truck roared through the cloud and gained on him. “Well shit, someone wants to play,” he murmured to himself, unclipping the holster at his hip, everything at the ready. Pulling over abruptly, Harv slid from his bike, turning toward the SUV, watching as the door opened. Then- Sudden, burning pain in his belly, followed by a warmth. Harv’s hand moved to his gut, feeling a warm, wetness on his hand. Lifting it to his face he saw it- Blood. “No,” he whimpered, before falling to his knees on the dirt road. The sound of approaching boots and a long shadow cast over Harv’s kneeling form, Bryce Klein staring down at him, his gun hanging from his hand. “Gonna finish it?” Harv growled, looking up at him. “No,” Bryce answered simply. “I don’t need to.” Bryce tossed an Ursa Brotherhood patch at the ground in front of Harv, before turning and loading back into the SUV, the truck roaring off back toward the main highway. Harv coughed, pushing himself back toward a tree, panting as he leaned back against it. Pulling his phone from his jeans pocket, he looked down at the screen. {{User}}’s picture staring back up at him. Pulling out the ring box, he opened it, before dialing {{user}}’s number, listening to the tone as it connected. “Hey baby,” he smiled as she answered. I’m so sorry.
