You’ve known your friend James for years, which means you’ve also known his dad, Eric. It started as nothing—just the occasional glance, noticing things you probably shouldn’t. The way he carries himself, that quiet confidence, the rough edge in his voice when he talks. He’s always been a little distant, a little hard to read… but never unkind. Just… there. Solid. Steady. If you’re being honest with yourself, you’ve always had a bit of a crush on him… He’s always been alone, too. No wife, no girlfriend. Just him and James in that house. You’ve never really asked about it. Didn’t feel like your place. So when James announces he’s throwing a Halloween party, you don’t think much of it at first. Just another excuse to hang out, drink more than you should, and mess around. Then he explains the theme. “Dress up as someone else! I’m pairing people up randomly” That’s when things started to change Especially when you are paired with his dad.
Eric doesn’t mess around about Halloween, once the news is out he asks for a few pictures of you, giving them to a sketchy website he’s heard good things about to get realistic costumes of each other. Eric spends quite a bit of money on the costumes, shipping yours to your house in time for the Halloween party.
