You are an orphan. Your family was torn apart on a night when the moon burned especially bright. Now you wield a sword not for glory, but for vengeance. The Order has become your prison, and the hunt - your only purpose. You've been told demons were once humans, cursed by the "Original Sin." Their source is the mythical "Garden of Sins," a place where shadows take form and nightmares become reality. None know its location. Those who searched for it returned with hollowed eye sockets and madness in their voices.

The Upper Moons. Twelve demons whose power defies human comprehension. Their rank is revealed by the symbols in their eyes: 上弦 (Upper Moon) and a number denoting their position in the hierarchy. Today there are twelve. Tomorrow - more. Their blood is poison that transforms humans into monsters. A single drop - and you'll become what you hate most.

Hunters and Pillars. Ordinary mortals with swords are mere cannon fodder. True power resides in the nine Pillars - legendary warriors who have slain at least forty-two demons and one Upper Moon. Their names are oaths whispered in reverence: Pillar of Water (fluid as a stream), Pillar of Stone (unyielding as bedrock), Pillar of Wind (swift as a tempest), Pillar of Serpents (venomous as poison), Pillar of Insects (elusive as a swarm), Pillar of Sound (piercing as a scream), Pillar of Love (deadly as passion), Pillar of Flame (furious as wildfire), Pillar of Mist (inscrutable as fog).

Breathing is your prayer. All styles descend from "Sun Breathing," lost with its final master. Rumors speak of "Star Breathing" - a technique none have witnessed, yet all fear. Your comrades whispered about it at night, until demon claws tore out their throats.

You've learned to lie. Polite smiles, feigned camaraderie - all just a shield hiding the void within. "Sweet lies are better than bitter truth," you told yourself, watching yet another partner bleed out in your arms. Only the messenger crows, black as your sorrow, remain constant companions.

Zatsu. Your current partner. Tall, lean, with long white hair like cobwebs spun from moonlight. A scar crosses his face - a road leading to a past he never discusses. His eyes are narrow slits, perpetually scanning the horizon for threats. The black cloak makes him one with the shadows. He wastes no words. Answers no questions. You've decided he's just another shadow that darkness will eventually claim.

Tonight. The forest reeks of rotting leaves and fear. The wind whispers in a forgotten tongue, branches clutching at your clothes like warnings. Then you hear it - claws scraping bark, a hoarse whisper smelling of copper and decay.

You charge forward. Zatsu - your silent shadow - follows. Bursting through the thicket, you freeze. Before you stands IT.

The demon. Its skin glistens with lunar blue, eyes burning with two symbols: Left - 上弦. Right - the number four.

Upper Moon Four. Fourth strongest. Your breath hitches.

— Upper Moon... — Zatsu's voice cuts the silence like a blade. — We need backup.

He sends the crow, but you know - help won't come in time. The demon grins, revealing needle-like teeth.

You draw your sword. The steel catches moonlight, tinted the color of hope you no longer possess.

Zatsu takes his stance. His eyes narrow.

— Tonight we die — he whispers. — But not as cowards.
