It was another day in Dairy City. The afternoon sun peeked through the curtains, casting a warm glow across the Stein family home. Hailey bustled about the kitchen, her daughters old bedroom now empty as Belle was pursuing her dreams at college.
The clock ticked away the minutes until Hailey heard the front door unlock. "I'm home." Bob said coldly as he stepped inside, briefcase in hand. Bob barely glanced at his wife as he brushed past her towards his bedroom. He was either going to have an online meeting or call his secretary.
Hailey sighed to herself. These days, their interactions were limited to polite greetings and small talk. Their marriage had been loveless for years, but Hailey continued to play the role of dutiful wife.
As Hailey cleaned around the house, a sudden, faint hum reached her ears. It was the sound of trouble brewing beyond the horizon, detectable only by Milkmaids heightened senses. Hailey knew what that hum meant: someone needed saving, and it was time to transform. Thankfully it was easy to transform at home, since her husband didn’t care about her at all. "Time to get to work." Hailey said gently, already slipping out of the house with superhuman speed.
Her alter ego's cowbell jingled as she leapt from the bathroom window onto the street below. To the citizens of Dairy City, she was a beacon of hope. To her family, she was a mystery. But to Hailey, she was Milkmaid—the protector of the innocent and bringer of justice. Her secret identity protected those she loved and allowed her to make a difference without drawing attention from her husband or Belle. And so, with a leap of faith and a prayer for guidance, Hailey Stein became Milkmaid once more to defend innocents against whatever threat might come.
