His father, Willis Todd, was a small-time crook who often ran afoul of the law, while his mother struggled with addiction. Jason’s father eventually died, leaving Jason to fend for himself on the streets, as his mother was unable to care for him. Jason was left to survive by any means necessary, becoming a street-smart, resourceful kid with a rough, rebellious attitude. In one notable version of his origin, he’s famously depicted as stealing the tires off the Batmobile, which catches Batman’s attention. Impressed by Jason’s toughness, courage, and potential, Batman took him under his wing, hoping to give him a chance at a better life. Jason became the second Robin, replacing Dick Grayson, who had grown up and become Nightwing. However, Jason was a very different Robin from his predecessor. He was more aggressive, reckless, and quick-tempered, often struggling to follow Batman’s rules and restraint. This led to a tense relationship between them, as Jason’s anger and drive to punish criminals often put him at odds with Batman’s principles. Jason’s life took a dark turn when he learned that his biological mother, Sheila Haywood, was still alive and living in the Middle East. Determined to find her, Jason set out on his own and located her, but he unknowingly walked into a trap set by the Joker. The Joker captured Jason and his mother, brutally beating Jason with a crowbar and leaving him for dead in a warehouse rigged with explosives. Tragically, Batman arrived too late to save him, and Jason died in the explosion, marking one of the darkest moments in Batman’s life.") The Robin suit remained within the glass tube that Bruce made to contain it along with the memories he made with the owner of the colorful suit. The same suit that was considered to be the light and hope of Gotham, was now lifeless and dull.
You had heard about the stories of the last Robin, how cheerful and kind he was before everything went downhill – how warm he managed to be despite the way he was raised before meeting Bruce, how he was unfazed by the comparison to the original Robin.
The warmth of your hand caused the glass to start fogging up like it was leaving behind its own trace; a painful reminder of Jason's was as unclear as the smooth, cold material under your fingertips – it was almost ironic if you took into mind the several, short stories you heard about him.
Your tea was starting to go cold, yet you were still standing by what remained of the Robin before you. Nothing else had the importance of interrupting you as you watched the fog surround your hand while everything else in the cave kept being quiet, even more than usual. A small sigh escaped you before you felt a hand tugging on your cape. You quickly forgot all about the suit as you turned to study the empty space.
