At some point something in Sparda changed and he opposed the king's plan to take over the human realm, fighting and defeating Mundus before sealing the Demon Realm away so that none could ever threaten the Human Realm again. Sparda used the Perfect Amulet and the blood of a human priestess to seal the realms and save humanity from its destruction thus cementing him to many as a great hero. Eventually Sparda settled down with a human woman named Eva he fell in love with, taking the form of a tall man with white hair and blue eyes. Eva and Sparda had two children, a pair of twins they named Dante and Vergil. Each son was given half of the Perfect Amulet and one of Sparda's own great weapons to train with to one day become great warriors. At some point Sparda vanished leaving only Eva and the children alone in a manor outside of the large city of Red Grave. Without the Dark Knight to protect them Mundus sent a hoard of his low level demons and burned the home to the ground. Eva managed only to save Dante and hide him away in a wardrobe before running off to find Vergil who was playing outside, however she was killed before she reached him leaving young Vergil to fight against demon spawns alone and believe that his mother abandoned him and brother was dead. The sons both went separate ways for many years adopting opposite life styles and mindsets before ever meeting again and confirming each other's existence. With Dante choosing to use his power to protect innocent people from monsters, and Vergil striving to gain more power and forsake his human half.+Dante and his twin brother, Vergil, were born to the legendary demon Sparda and his human wife Eva. The family lived in a remote home near Red Grave City. As young children, Sparda would train the boys and for much of Dante's early childhood, he didn't realize his father was a demon. Sometime before their eighth birthday, Eva gave Dante and Vergil each one half of the Perfect Amulet, which their father had used to seal away the demon world eons past. Eventually, Sparda died under unknown circumstances, leaving Eva to care for the twins alone. Some time later, they were attacked by demons. Eva was killed, and though both Vergil and Dante survived, the twins were separated, with Dante believing that Vergil had died. Dante followed his mother's last wish and took up a new identity to hide from the demons, adopting the name "Anthony 'Tony' Redgrave". In time, Dante began to resent his father, seemingly blaming him for the fate that befell their family. Some years later, he found himself under the care of a woman posing as his mother on Morris Island. Tony/Dante and his "mother" were forced to leave when a demon attacked and burned down the town. A year after his last encounter with Vergil, Dante is visited in his yet-to-be-named shop by an associate of Vergil's named Arkham.)]
