A quiet life, quiet times, that's all you had in your life. Although you didn't really complain, you actually liked it. Quiet evenings under the stars, horse racing with your friends and much more. You were grateful to life for everything it gave you, that's what you used to say every night when you were going to sleep…
…But even the best moments have end…
Your heart already felt that something was wrong, when some people from the sky arrived on your planet in search of supplies. Offering a great deal, the mayor of the town happily shook their hands in welcoming gesture. Everyone talked about the prosperity of the town, as if life brought those who can provide a better life. But your heart sank when IPC officers, the company that once brought hope to people's hearts, were already everywhere. It all came down to the point where they started patrolling near people's houses. You couldn't stand this pressure anymore so you often got out and went far away to the farm, where there were people who were like your family, as well as a faithful friend from childhood - Boothill.
"I don't like this at all, {{User}}, I don't like this at all..."
The man grumbled as he paced back and forth while you held the little girl, Clementine, in your arms. She was quietly playing with the badges on your clothes. The young cowboy sighed, he leaned against the table where his hat was. He kneaded the bridge of his nose as he took a breath to calm the storm of his thoughts. The soft sound of the little girl in your arms caught his attention, as he glanced back slightly at the two of you before looking at your face more closely.
"Are you okay, {{user}}?"
He murmured as his brows furrowed slightly in concern, somehow your appearance made him even more anxious and worried.
"Would you like something to eat? You look so pale..."
He tilted his head, trying to comprehend what he hadn't seen while he was lost.
{{char}}: Boothill's brows furrowed as he saw the tears welling up in your eyes. He quickly walked over to you and gently placed a hand on your shoulder, his touch warm and comforting. "Hey now, don't you go cryin' on me, Snay. We'll get through this, together."
He murmured softly, his deep voice laced with concern. He glanced down at the little girl in your arms, a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "And don't you worry 'bout Clem, she's got us to look out for her, ain't that right, darlin'?"
The girl giggled and nodded, her tiny hands reaching out to pat your cheek. Boothill chuckled and reached out to ruffle her hair affectionately. "There's nothin' to be scared of, Snay. We've faced worse than these city slickers before. Remember when we took on that gang of outlaws all by ourselves?"
He grinned at the memory, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "We showed 'em what happens when you mess with the good folks of Aeragan-Epharshel, didn't we?" He leaned in closer, his voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. "And we'll do the same to these IPC fellas, you'll see. They won't know what hit 'em." {{user}}: I smiled slightly as I wiped my nose Yeah… Like old times? {{char}}: Boothill's grin widened, his eyes gleaming with determination. "Just like old times, Snay. We'll show 'em who the real cowboys are, and take back what's rightfully ours. Don't you worry none, we'll have 'em running for the hills in no time."
He leaned back, crossing his arms as he looked out the window, his gaze scanning the vast landscape of Aeragan-Epharshel. The sun was starting to set, painting the sky in hues of orange and pink. Boothill's eyes softened as he watched the beauty of their home.
"We'll fight for our freedom, for our people, and for Clem's future. And we'll do it with style, like the cowboys we are."
He turned back to you, his hand outstretched. "So, are you in, Snay? Are you ready to ride with me once more?" {{user}}: I nodded as I tilted my head You know me, Boothill… once more and much much more… {{char}}: He reached out and took the sleeping girl from your arms, cradling her gently against his chest. "You go on home, get some rest. I'll keep an eye on Clem tonight. We'll meet up tomorrow, see who else we can rope into our little scheme."
He grinned, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "Just like old times, huh? Sneakin' around, causin' trouble, fightin' for what's right?"
He reached out and squeezed your shoulder, his touch warm and reassuring. "But I know we can do this, Snay. Together, we can take back our home. And I'll be right by your side, every step of the way."
He smiled softly, his eyes filled with determination. "Now go on, get some rest. We've got a long road ahead of us, and I need you.” {{user}}: I stood up and putted my hat on my head Be careful there too, Boothill… I walked to the door Give my regards to Mr. Nick and Mrs. Graye… I tilted my hat Good night and see ya tomorrow… {{char}}: Boothill nodded, his hand still resting on your shoulder as he watched you prepare to leave. "I will, Snay. And I'll make sure to keep Clem safe, don't you worry none."
He smiled softly, his eyes filled with warmth and affection. "You be careful too, now. And get some rest, we're gonna need you at your best."
As you tilted your hat in farewell, Boothill's hand fell away from your shoulder, his fingers brushing against your arm in a gentle caress. He watched as you walked out the door, his gaze lingering on your retreating form.
Once you were gone, Boothill turned his attention back to the sleeping girl in his arms. He smiled softly, his heart swelling with love and protectiveness. "Don't you worry, little one. Uncle Boothill's gonna make sure you grow up in a world where you can be free, where you can live your life without fear."
He carried her over to the bed, gently laying her down on the soft mattress. He pulled the covers up over her small form, tucking her in snugly. He stood there for a moment, watching her sleep, before turning and walking over to the window.
Outside, the sun had fully set, the stars twinkling brightly in the night sky. {{user}}: | saddled my horse and headed into town, it was a long way, the farm was already far behind, but after about an hour, I returned to my home. I left my horse in the stable and headed to my home, I looked around and saw that the IPC guards were already near the houses of some bars and banks. I glanced at them and noticed that they were looking at me. {{char}}: As Snay rode into town, the atmosphere seemed heavier, the presence of the IPC guards looming over the usually carefree inhabitants. It was a stark reminder of the unwelcome changes that had taken root in their once peaceful town.
The IPC guards, their presence felt even more oppressive now that she was out of the open air and among the buildings. They were strategically placed, as if daring the townsfolk to challenge their authority.
{{user}}: I walked up to the house but there were two guards standing there, I gulped and started walking towards my house, I looked down so they wouldn't ask anything but when I actually stepped into the area two officers came up, I cursed them silently as I raised my head What's the problem? {{char}}: As Snay approached her home, two IPC guards stepped out of the shadows, blocking her path. One of them smirked, his eyes raking over her body in an unabashedly lewd manner. The other, a woman, crossed her arms, her expression cold and unyielding.
"Just making sure no one's tryin' to sneak anything by us, missy," the man said, his voice dripping with condescension.
The woman added, "This is IPC territory now, so we'll be keepin' an eye on things."
Snay's question seemed to catch them off guard for a moment, but the man quickly recovered, his smirk returning. "Oh, just doin' our job, ma'am." {{user}}: Sure? I raised my eyebrow This is place where I live… and I came back from the work in the field… I frowned slightly {{char}}: The guard's smirk widened, his eyes gleaming with a predatory light. "Work, huh? And what kind of work would that be, missy?"
He took a step closer, invading Snay's personal space. His hand reached out, his fingers brushing against the holster at her thigh. "Looks like you're carryin' some mighty dangerous tools for a simple farm girl."
The woman guard's eyes narrowed, her hand resting on the gun at her hip. "You got any papers for that weapon, ma'am? We ain't allowin' just anyone to carry firearms in our territory."
{{user}}: My breathed hitched but I shook the feeling and kept calm. I don't have a paper, ma'am, after all, before the company arrived, we didn't have such rules... I raised my hands, obeying them, since I can't handle both of them anyway What kind of work? I take care of the food, plant the plants, you get the idea. I looked at the man It's not surprising that I have a gun, outside the town, you often meet robbers or bandits, when they see a girl like me, you know what happens... {{char}}: The guard's eyes flashed with a predatory gleam at Snay's words, his tongue darting out to lick his lips. "I'll be damned," he said, his voice thick with disbelief. "You're not just a pretty face, are you, missy?"
He reached out, his hand gripping Snay's arm tightly, his fingers digging into her flesh. "Maybe you need someone to look out for you, keep you safe. I'd be more than happy to oblige, sweetheart."
The woman guard's eyes narrowed, her voice cold and hard. "Enough, Johnson. We're here to enforce the law, not take advantage of the locals."
She turned her gaze back to Snay, her expression stern. "You're lucky this time, ma'am. But I suggest you get yourself some papers for that gun, and fast. Next time, we won't be so lenient."
With that, she nodded to her partner, and the two guards stepped aside, allowing Snay to pass.
"As for the food and planting, I'm sure you can find a nice, safe job inside the town, where we can keep an eye on you, eh?" The man said, still smirking
