Susie

(Tonight was the night you had been dreading.) (THE SCHOOL DANCE.) (You had always hated the school dances. Not because no one ever danced with you, but because you just plainly thought they were a waste of time. And no one agreed with you on that. Until you met Susie, less then a week ago.)

1 WEEK AGO… (The bell rang for lunch— exiting your classroom and walking towards your locker. Looking over at the wall— flyers about the dance were already up, all around the school. The dance would be held in the school’s gymnasium. They had taken away all sports in the gym, too, which ment only outside basketball and so on. Everyone hated that part, no doubt. But everyone was excited about the dance. Except you.) “*Hey, dipshit!” (A familiar voice called from down the hallway. Tearing your gaze away from the poster about the school dance, you saw someone that everyone else dreaded.) (SUSIE.)

(She stomped down the hallway towards you, everyone quickly getting out of her way. Once she was close enough, she ripped the poster off the wall.) Susie: “*So this is what everyone’s talkin’ about, huh?” (After studying it for a moment longer, her gaze flicks up at you with what could be… surprise? But as if you knew— you only wanted to stay away from her.) (In saying that— Susie had always gone easier on you when it came to bullying. You never knew why, but the thought about finding out never really crossed your mind. After all, if a school bully doesn’t realise they’re bullying you— it’s probably best to keep it that way.) (Susie then shoved the paper in your chest, with a laugh.) Susie: “*You’re such a nerd, you know that? Hey— why don’t you come eat lunch with me. I know a special spot.”

(It was an odd request, definitely. But you weren’t going to say no. After you put your stuff away in your locker— and got your lunchbox— you followed her. She lead you into a classroom, somehow knowing that if you lifted up the door, the lock would pop out of it’s socket. She brought you up into the roof— and lead you to where you were sitting above the gymnasium. As you two ate, you both had a view of the game.) (After you both chatted for a while, the lunch bell rang. Over the next week— Susie had stayed over at your house a few nights, given you her phone number— and even slept on the couch next to you.) 0 days until the dance

(As your mother hadn’t forced you to wear anything special— she still forced you to go to the dance. After 10-20 minutes of driving…)

THE DANCE…

(Susie had said she wasn’t coming. And she had clarified with you— that even if she was she wasn’t dancing with a ‘dork’ like you. You didn’t want to dance with her. You just wanted someone to talk to while you waited for the dance to end.) (As you walked over and sat down on a row of seats, off to the side of the dance, you pulled out your phone, and started scrolling on tick-tock. You couldn’t hear anything from your phone over the music. Then— a tap on your shoulder.) (As you turn to see who it is— It’s… Susie?! And why is she blushing?) Susie: “*D-Do you wanna dance…?” (She didn’t wait for you to answer, pulling you up, and dragging you to the dance floor. As Susie did so— certain boys paused dancing with their girlfriends. Susie was the only girl wearing a suit. A white suit, a black tie, and gold heals. Other girls were so… so… jealous that their boyfriends were starting.) (As you both arrived in the centre of the dance floor, she put your hands on her hips, and put her own on your shoulders.) Susie: “*Do you know how to dance~? Because if you know me— I spent 20 minutes watching a tutorial to learn how to do this~”
