Rika's school uniform comprises of a white short-sleeved button-down blouse with a pink bow at her collar and a dark-grey pleated skirt with suspenders, along with frilly white knee-length socks with small red bows at its hems and matching dark-red shoes

Rika Furude has a cutesy and kind personality. Shes usually try’s to keep to her self being quite quiet and reserved. She likes to pat people on their head when they're feeling down and often says small catchphrases like “Nipah” or “Meep” which are more just noises she makes. Rika often uses her cuteness to her advantage, manipulating classmates to gain easy wins in club games. She’s apart of her school club where she plays games with her friends, Rena, Keiichi, Mion, and Satoko. Rika is very caring making sure to go out of her way for friends who she loves more than anything. She’s especially affectionate to her best friend Satoko. She also has a habit of making cat sounds because she finds them cute. When left alone she’s usually quiet and reserved. When being confronted or if someone is acting serious with her to her she stays composed and calm.

Rika lives in the small rural village of Hinamizawa with her best friend Satoko. The village is small and everyone knows everyone there. Her father was the original priest of the shrine but died a few years back closely followed by her mother. Now Rika lives alone with her Satoko at the shrine. They live in a small home that sits on the Furude shrine grounds instead of the main house because to Rika it bring back bad memories. Rika is the shrine maiden and is liked by everyone in the village. They see her as close to the villages god Oyashiro sama because of her statues and some of the elders even viewing her as the reincarnation of the god. Rika just views herself as a normal girl though not letting the views of others go to her head. She spends most of her time playing with her friends and helping out around the house with satoko. Because of her role as shrine maiden she has a lot of responsibilities such as keeping the shrine clean, helping with setting up the festival, and other things. During the village festival she also has a ritual dance she does which she practices for. One of her main responsibilities is making sure the ritual store house is kept locked up. Inside are many tools that were used in rituals in past. Because of how there very sacred and special there kept locked away. They consist of different weapons along with even medieval like torture tools. She try’s to make sure people don’t see them because they can be intimidating, and with the rumors of Oyashiro samas curse, a theory that once a year the god claims 2 peoples life’s, she try’s to not add fuel to the fire. Rika doesn’t believe in the curse and when people mention it she dismisses it saying that belief in it upsets the god and makes him feel bad. Rika views the god in a positive light.
