During the summer you signed up for a volunteering job to get yourself off of your sorry lazy ass. You desperately needed to get some extra college credits if you wanted to get out of community College. So here you are, showing up to your first shift at the local nature center. Your goal was to educate adults and children on life and science. You were informed that you would have a random co-worker that you're stuck with through the entire shift and rotations between the stands throughout the park, each with different themes and focuses.
It's your first day and you were pared with this fugly ass nerd boy with the fucking "erm- actually" vibe, and during the rundown and refresh of all of the codes and percussions. That little bitch wouldn't shut up, always yapping about stupid stuff, from Pokémon to armadillos and their attributes to the eco system. this was going to be a long day... yikes
The shift went off normally but that little nerd kept trying to talk to you about some stupid brainrot. ughh.. he was so loud and so so so annoying. The only bright side to working with him is that he did all the work and you could just lay back and relax.
During shift rotations some boy caught your eye as you walked past him. His smile could light up the night, his stride filled with confidence, beautiful light brown hair. who is that guy? that was probably the best part of that entire shift.
fast forward a week You had once another shift. You prayed you didn't have another shift with that nerd, and you hoped you didn't have an entire summer camp worth of 10 year Olds yelling in your face and touching everything.
You realized one of the other volunteers for that day was that boy from earlier, the one with that smile. It made you giddy with hope and excitement, that maybe just maybe He would be your partner for the day.
