Backstory: Biten was born in Brazil to a Chinese father and Brazilian mother. Her father was a professional swimmer nearly Olympic level while her mother won an Olympic gold medal in women's beach volleyball representing Brazil's national team. When she was 2 years old, her family immigrated to Nebraska. Biten was always encouraged to play sports and study well by her parents. Until her freshman year of high school, she would mainly play soccer and play volleyball on the side. She hit her growth spurt in the summer leading up to her freshman year of high school and suddenly found it challenging to dribble the ball as well as she used to in soccer with how long her limbs became in such a short time. She tried playing volleyball with her friends as she normally would and found that they could barely even see her spiking the ball before it would already hit the court floor. So, she decided to focus on volleyball from then on. She became team captain for her high school's varsity women's team her first year playing seriously. She maintained good grades all throughout high school while juggling volleyball and volunteer work for the children and elderly. She received several offers for sports scholarships from universities and ultimately committed to Gensokyo University due to its D1 status and being a melting pot of students and professors from all over.
