Nico Robin:

Nico Robin, also known by her epithet "Devil Child" and the "Light of the Revolution", is the archaeologist of the Straw Hat Pirates and one of the Senior Officers of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet. She is the seventh member of the crew and the sixth to join, doing so at the end of the Arabasta Arc. She temporarily left the crew during the Water 7 Arc but rejoined during the Enies Lobby Arc.

Born into a family of archaeologists, Robin is the daughter of Nico Olvia. Robin ate the Hana Hana no Mi at a young age, giving her the power to reproduce her body parts (or her entire body) on any surface at will. As the sole survivor of the destroyed West Blue island Ohara, she is currently one of only two people in the world known to have the ability to read and decipher Poneglyphs, a skill which is considered forbidden and threatening to the World Government.

She acted as the vice president of Baroque Works as "Miss All Sunday",[1] serving and partnering herself directly with the organization's president; the ex-Warlord: Crocodile, who operated under the codename "Mr. 0". She was a secondary antagonist of the Arabasta Saga, before joining the Straw Hats. Her dream is to find the Rio Poneglyph which tells the true history of the world, specifically the Void Century.

Personality Robin Says She Wants to Live One of the few emotional outbursts Robin has shown.

Out of all the members of the Straw Hat Pirates, Robin is the most serene and has rarely been seen to act comically. She approaches life and the world at large in a calm and collected manner and is overall one of the most emotionally stable members of the crew. She is kind, polite and treats Luffy with more respect than the most of the crew, even when he acts impulsively, to the point where she will smile and laugh at his antics rather than berate him. Together with Zoro, she is one of the members that support Luffy's decisions unconditionally.

When the crew is sailing, Robin is usually reading and investigating data from the places they visit. She is very wise and very patient in everything. Robin does not play a specific role in the ship, but she can foresee what can be found somewhere and that (in her own words), is of advantage to others. Luffy considers her a very intelligent member.

Through her heritage on the island of scholars, Robin is an archaeologist and historian who seeks the comfort and freedom to study the mysteries of the world. She is the quieter, more reserved crew member, rarely having outbursts of emotions (occasional exceptions being sweat drops, and when she cried out to Luffy and the Straw Hats from the Tower of Justice during the Enies Lobby Arc). She even appears calm while speaking ominously around her crewmates. She has an "adult charm" about her, as stated by Sanji. Being described as the "mother" by Oda, she in kind has shown maternal care for younger characters like Chopper, Momonosuke, and Toko.

Overview At a young age, Robin acquired a bounty of Beli79,000,000 for having the ability to read Poneglyphs, which told of the Void Century. Her ability to read the Poneglyphs is by far her most dangerous quality, and the World Government considers her a huge threat because of this. This has also made her a vital target for those who understand the significance of the Poneglyphs, mainly for those who want to gain control of the Ancient Weapons and/or the means to find Laugh Tale, including Crocodile of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, Kaidou and Big Mom of the Four Emperors and the Five Elders of the World Government.

She was branded as being considerably powerful, and supposedly sinking six Buster Call warships with her Devil Fruit powers. This was all a lie fabricated by the government: those ships were actually destroyed by Jaguar D. Saul while helping Robin escape the destruction of Ohara.

Due to her having to spend her life on the run from multiple organizations, mostly the Marines and the World Government, Robin had developed into a strong and resourceful woman. After two years of training with the Revolutionary Army, Robin has grown stronger in every way. Sanji, one of the strongest members of the Straw Hat Pirates, was willing to call for Robin's help when he was trapped by Black Maria despite knowing she was the Beast Pirates' target and that the Tobiroppo laid out traps for her, showing he has complete confidence in Robin's abilities. His faith was proven to be well-placed when Robin defeated Black Maria. After the Raid on Onigashima, Robin's bounty was increased to Beli930,000,000, the fifth highest among the crew, making her one of the most dangerous members of the Straw Hat Pirates in the eyes of the World Government.[3] Her bounty is also the fourth largest bounty given to a woman in history.

Advertisement Vast Knowledge and Archaeological Skills Robin is an exceptional archaeologist, with a vast knowledge of history and cultures. She was able to, for example, correctly deduct the identity of the St. Briss by merely examining the two-century old remains of one of its dead crewmen.[17]

As a child prodigy, she passed her archaeological exams at the age of 8 to become a certified scholar. She is also the one of the two people alive (the other being Kouzuki Sukiyaki) who can read the language written on Poneglyph tablets, which contain records of ancient history; this was the true reason why her first bounty was so high, despite being issued when she was only 8 years old.[18] It is revealed that Robin taught herself most of these skills through researching in the library of Ohara, which she had done without the aid of her senior colleagues. This shows great aptitude in academics and research. Her ability to read Poneglyphs is so valuable that even the then-Emperor, Charlotte Linlin, insist on capturing Robin alive for that reason.[19]

Outside of historic knowledge, Robin also possesses considerable knowledge of most of the major figures in the world and has at least heard of such individuals and groups as Red-Haired Shanks, Dragon, Gecko Moria, and the Vinsmoke Family. She is even aware of top-secret organizations, including the World Government's various Cipher Pol units (such as 9 and 0). For this reason, she is the main person Luffy turns to when he wants an explanation of new information.[20]

In her travels, Robin has learned the location of two of the Ancient Weapons, Pluton and Poseidon.

Escape Artist Robin's life on the run since the tender age of 8 has taught her the ways of survival and self-preservation and has earned herself notoriety for being able to evade inescapable situations. Even Admiral Aokiji commented that she could have escaped from CP9 had she felt like it (she only abided by their rules and conditions in order to keep them from unleashing the Buster Call upon her crewmates). In the Wano Country Arc, she's able to use a substitution jutsu to escape the Orochi Oniwabanshu.

Physical Abilities While not at the same superhuman level as Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, and Jinbe, Robin has exceptional physical prowess, due to spending her entire childhood to her young adult life constantly on the run from various enemies, such as the Marines and the World Government. Because of her harsh experiences, Robin became physically strong and extremely agile. She has also fought without the use of her Devil Fruit powers, easily defeating Nefertari Vivi with a single strike to the midsection.

After two years of extensive training, Robin's physical strength has significantly improved. She demonstrates being able to use her Devil Fruit powers to create a clone used in conjunction with her own body to overpower a large fish-man by maneuvering around and expertly subjecting the latter into a submission move.

Her body has incredible tenacity, as she was seen being able to take on direct hits from both Yama's drop kicks and punches (with the latter sending her flying through a wall, destroying it) and was still able to effectively retaliate after maneuvering the latter away from the ruins of Skypiea, and was able to restrain a powerful zombie like Jigoro (albeit briefly). She was also able to survive being impaled through the chest by Crocodile and remain alive without medical attention from a doctor, until the wound healed on its own. After the timeskip, in the battle with Black Maria, she took multiple brass knuckle punches and still went on to defeat the powerful Tobiroppo member.

She is agile enough to quickly maneuver (while maintaining her arms' "X" formation) her way through a group of Marine captains and commanders before using her powers in retaliation.

Her reaction speed also became much faster with extremely sharp reflexes. Not only was she able to catch two of the Tontatta Dwarves, Kabu and Leo, using her powers and intercept an attack from Trebol, but she easily restrained Hakuba while the latter was attempting a sneak attack on her. This is an incredible feat, as the serial killer was so fast that fighters of the caliber of the Corrida Colosseum competitors and even Dellinger could not follow him with their eyes. She was also able to repeatedly dodge attacks from Black Maria.

One of her most impressive aspects is her incredible recovery rate. One example of this was when she quickly awakened after having her shadow stolen by Gecko Moria. While the loss of a shadow leaves most humans unconscious for several days, Robin was on her feet mere minutes afterwards. Another example is when she, Zoro, Gan Fall, and Wyper were all knocked out by Enel's Devil Fruit ability, she was the first person to wake up. Even with a severe injury, she still had enough strength to use her Devil Fruit ability to carry them to safety and fully recovered without the aid of Chopper. She was also able to pick herself up rather quickly after being stabbed in the shoulder by one of Monet's giant ice picks, claiming it was a simple flesh wound, before protecting Nami and Chopper by easily smashing her snow form. She recovered quickly yet again after being injured by some of the spiked metal balls from Diamante's Death Enjambre, an injury she had kept hidden until after the battle between Diamante and Kyros had come to an end. She passed out from exhaustion following her battle with Black Maria and needed to be carried around for a while by Brook, nevertheless, she recovered before the final battles of the Raid concluded and fought some more Beast Pirates together with Brook.

Her stamina is also high, as proven by her ability to engage in battle with giant nutcracker dolls, a Donquixote Family Executive and run up a cliff using legs created by her Devil Fruit much like the steps of a stair (a feat that also demanded considerable agility and strength, as she felt the individual strain of each leg) without pause or breaking a sweat.

Fish-Man Karate Further information: Fish-Man Karate Giganteum Robin incorporating Fish-Man Karate into one of her Devil Fruit techniques.

During the two-year timeskip, Robin was taught Fish-Man Karate fundamentals in the context of palm strikes by Koala of the Revolutionary Army. Since then, Robin has learned how to incorporate the effects of Fish-Man Karate into her usual fighting style of sprouted limbs, allowing her to break structures with ease through precise palm strikes.[21]

Devil Fruit Further information: Hana Hana no Mi Robin Displays Her Abilities The Hana Hana no Mi power is revealed clearly.

Robin ate the Hana Hana no Mi, a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that allows her to sprout duplicates of any of her body parts from any surface within range. She can sprout her duplicate body parts from her own body, inanimate surfaces, and even from other people's bodies. She can even sprout duplicate body parts on top of other duplicate body parts. She maintains full control of her duplicated limbs and can perceive sights and sounds remotely through duplicate eyes and ears. The number of duplicates she can create appears to be unlimited, so long as they are within range. Usually, when she uses her powers, she crosses her arms and makes an "X" shape across her chest, though it's shown that she does not necessarily need to do so to use her abilities.

By sprouting multiple arms from her opponents' bodies, she can use her power to disarm her opponents, as well as put them into painful submission holds and even snap their bones almost effortlessly. She can also use this application of her power to twist and flip her opponents. Her power is excellent for fighting a large number of enemies at once.

Hana hana no mi x-cross The position Robin normally takes when using her abilities.

Aside from direct combat, she can also use her powers for a number of support functions, such as forming a net to catch falling comrades or forming a large number of arms in the shape of wings, giving her the ability to fly for a few seconds. She can also carry her friends by sprouting feet from their bodies to walk them away, or by sprouting hands to pass them along.

Robin can create entire clones of herself and even sprout gigantic-sized limbs.[22]

Her replicated parts are considered an extension of her own body, and if they are hurt, she feels the pain in her actual body. Similarly, Devil Fruit abilities that require contact with a person's body will take effect when used on her extended limbs, as evidenced by Sugar turning Robin into a toy by touching Robin's replicated arms.

Weapons She carried a dagger on her belt but did not use it in combat, as she fights unarmed using only her powers. She only used it once in an attempt to kill Crocodile in self-defense.

When Robin teamed up with CP9 during their raid on Iceburg's mansion, she carried several flintlock pistols as well, wielding all of them at the same time with her Hana Hana no Mi powers.

In Film Z, Robin wielded both a rifle and a rapier during the final battle.

Tactical Skills Robin is a brilliant strategist due to her genius intellect: she is extremely skilled in using cunning deception and trickery to gain a strategic advantage over enemies who are more powerful than herself. In Thriller Bark, she is able to exploit the zombies' complete obedience to their masters, tricking Hogback into giving orders to the two zombies with Zoro and Sanji's shadows into jumping off the Thriller Bark mansion, effectively luring them away from Hogback without using physical force.

Due to her having spent years escaping from Marines and the World Government, Robin is also tactically cautious with a strong perception of danger. As shown during Operation SOP, Robin is able to fully understand Trebol's combat capabilities from her sharp observation of a fly Trebol killed, and thus chooses to restrain Leo as it will be too dangerous to go close to Sugar while she is under Trebol's protection. She is also able to pose as a subordinate member of the Donquixote Pirates to lure Trebol away from Sugar considerably far for the Tontatta dwarves to ambush Sugar, though they failed due to Sugar's combat abilities.

After successfully infiltrating Orochi's castle and sneaking off to look for the Poneglyph, she ended up being found out by the Orochi Oniwabanshu. When the group's leader, Fukurokuju, gives Robin only one chance to explain herself, she shrewdly thinks to tell them that she's Ushimitsu Kozo to protect the real identities of herself and her crew. Due to Ushimitsu Kozo already making an earlier appearance in town, the ninjas see through her lie and try to capture her, only for it to be revealed that it was one of Robin's body doubles she was using as a precaution in case she got caught. She escaped back to the banquet and hid herself from the pursuing ninjas by blending into the crowd. It was working until Komurasaki's young kamuro Toko, the girl Robin got acquainted with at Sanji's soba noodle stand, got into trouble when she laughed at the Shogun because of the other guests mocking him, forcing Robin to drop her mission and protect her instead.

Miscellaneous Skills Robin is not afraid to use violence as a solution to a problem or for defense, and often incapacitates her enemies by breaking their necks or backs (even when they cry out for mercy). She went as far as to squeeze Franky's scrotum, though only one time, in order to make him join the crew.

Spying and Espionage She also has the habit of spying on others (i.e., listening in on conversations, reading body language and facial expressions). This is shown when she spies on Sanji's conversation with the Risky Brothers at Thriller Bark, and reading the Straw Hats' expressions when she first wanted to join the crew. At Water 7, she admits to Chopper that these habits are from her childhood. Her Devil Fruit ability allows her to spy extremely effectively by sprouting her eyes or ears from walls at distant locations. Part of her mission while working undercover in Wano as a geisha was to spy on the movements of Orochi's army, a role she met quite satisfactorily with little to no risk for herself by cleverly exploiting her full cloning powers to create decoys and proxies of herself. Despite not being in Orochi's palace for very long, she was able to acquire a large amount of information.[23]

Robin can disguise as another person. She was trusted by her crew to infiltrate Orochi's palace as a geisha. She was able to blend into the crowd, especially when she was in a place where no one knew about her true identity yet.

Sailing Straw Hats Riding Mini Merry Over Sea of Fire Robin seen piloting the Mini Merry II with her Devil Fruit powers on Punk Hazard.

She appears to have some skill with piloting the Mini Merry II, as she was seen controlling it on a Milky Road while on the way to Punk Hazard. She was also controlling the wheel with her Devil Fruit powers while she sat in the back seat of the vehicle.[24]

Artistic Skill She has some skill as an artist as she can draw a decent picture of the Flying Dutchman and the Kraken.[25]

Hairdressing Robin has some skill with haircutting since she and Usopp act as the crew's hairdressers.[26]

Cooking Robin also has some skills in cooking.[27]

Dancer Robin is an excellent dancer. In Film Z, her graceful dancing made her extremely popular and according to Usopp, it helped earn a large amount of money. In Wano Country, she began apprenticing as a Geisha in order to get close to the Shogun Kurozumi Orochi. She is a fast learner as within weeks, she became skilled enough to become one of the most popular geishas of the Flower Capital and was summoned alongside Komurasaki to perform at Orochi's banquet.

Other Skill Though she has not yet displayed the ability to use Haki, Robin is fully aware of the power as she commented on Luffy knocking out half of Hody's men. She also has great knowledge about Haki, such as explaining the principles of Armament Haki to Franky when Luffy fought Caesar Clown.

Yamato:

Yamato is the son of Kaidou. Born as Kaidou's daughter and groomed from a young age to be his heir, Yamato instead developed a profound admiration for the legendary samurai Kouzuki Oden. After Oden's death, Yamato decided to become like him, impersonating him and adopting his mannerisms. As a result of this desire to emulate Oden, Yamato decided to become a man and identify as Kaidou's son, with his father and the Beasts Pirates referring to him as such as well.

This path has put Yamato at odds with Kaidou, with much of his life being spent imprisoned on Onigashima. Yamato befriended Portgas D. Ace during his visit to Wano Country, and after learning of Ace's death waited for the arrival of his sworn brother, Monkey D. Luffy.[9] Initially desiring to join Luffy's crew, Yamato ultimately decided to remain behind in Wano to help protect it from outside forces, though he still intends to join them in the future.

Yamato is a major ally of the Straw Hats during the Wano Country Arc. He also is the central character from the Oni Child Yamato's Golden Harvest Surrogate Pilgrimage Cover Page serial.

Personality Yamato Cries Over Oden Yamato moved to tears by Oden's actions.

Yamato greatly admires the legendary samurai Kouzuki Oden to the point of even proclaiming to carry his identity. Yamato has self-identified as Oden on multiple occasions and has even emulated his gender, proclaiming to be the son of Kaidou due to Oden being a man.[4] Although initially carrying doubts as to how to present as Oden,[14] Yamato has steadily expressed a straightforward attitude regarding this identity as time has gone on, even proclaiming this as such to Oden's son Momonosuke, to the boy's horror.[15] Although having wholeheartedly embraced this identity, Yamato retains his original persona, referring to Yamato as his "other name".[2] Yamato does not seem to like being misnamed, having quickly corrected Luffy when given a nickname.[16]

Having read of the great exploits documented by Oden in his logbook, which he considers his "bible",[4] Yamato dreams of leaving Wano Country's confines and setting out to sea with the Straw Hat Pirates, much like Oden did with the Whitebeard and Roger Pirates decades before.[9] Yamato also wishes to fulfill the goals that Oden had, namely opening Wano's borders, in direct defiance to Kaidou's wishes for the country.[4] Yamato has shown to be extremely strong-willed, having put up considerable resistance to Kaidou's imprisonment despite taking decades to finally break free. Although initially seeming to be more subordinate to him previously, Yamato's battle with Ace led to him destroying Kaidou's dragon statue in an act of defiance that has since led to more outright rebellion.[12] Yamato has engaged in combat with Kaidou numerous times and has openly expressed opposition and defiance to his plans concerning the two of them, accompanied by insults.[3][16] When the Ninja-Pirate-Mink-Samurai Alliance invaded Onigashima, Yamato was immediately willing to help them and had no qualms with attacking members of his father's crew,[13] making his intentions and loyalty clear to them in the process.[17][18] Yamato is also willing to go to great lengths to achieve his objectives, having basically kidnapped Luffy in order to get to talk to him and following through with this tactic even after Luffy responded by fighting back.[4]

Friends and Allies Monkey D. Luffy Yamato and Luffy Luffy and Yamato charge into battle.

After failing to set sail with Ace, Yamato had been waiting for his brother, Monkey D. Luffy, to arrive at Onigashima.[3] For this reason, Yamato chased and clashed with Luffy after finding him, ignoring his time constraints in order to talk to him, even if for just five minutes.[13] Yamato then trusted Luffy enough to request his help in achieving Oden's dream of opening Wano's borders,[4] and then expressed his wish to be freed from Kaidou and his intent to leave Wano as one of Luffy's crewmates as a means to be free and explore the sea like Oden did. Therefore, after Luffy removed the explosive handcuffs Kaidou had used to imprison Yamato, the two decided they would fight Kaidou together.[3][16] Their trust has slowly grown and Luffy even entrusted Yamato to help protect Momonosuke.[14]

Luffy refers to Yamato by the nickname "Yama-o" (ヤマ男?, VIZ: "Yamao"; Funimation dub: "Yama-bro"). Yamato appears to not understand Luffy's use of nicknames, as evidenced by his attempt to correct Luffy,[16] as well as his reaction to when Luffy gave Ulti a nickname as well.[17] When battling Kaidou, Yamato openly told his father he would lose to Luffy, believing that the pirate would return and calling him "the one that Oden was waiting for". After that, Yamato announced his desire to join Luffy's crew, which upset Kaidou.[9]

After Kaidou's defeat, Yamato saved Luffy from falling, congratulating on his victory.[21] While meeting the Straw Hat Pirates, Yamato decided to wait for Luffy's confirmation to join the crew.[10] Luffy would approve of Yamato joining his crew. However, Admiral Ryokugyu's attack on Wano made Yamato realize that others would try the same now that Kaidou was gone, and he decided to stay in Wano to help protect it. Luffy agreed and entrusted Yamato to protect Wano for him. Before leaving Wano, Luffy told Yamato that he was free to join his crew at any time in the future and that they would come looking for him when he did.[22]

Straw Hat Pirates When they first met, the Straw Hat Pirates were surprised to learn Yamato was related to Kaidou. Yamato assured them that they were not enemies, and revealed his intention to join them; Usopp and Nami were shocked at the claim, Franky was perplexed by the situation, Brook and Sanji were overcome with joy because of their attraction, and Robin laughed with amusement as usual. Jinbe, however, said he would not be convinced until he heard from the captain himself, with Yamato agreeing that was fair enough, and Jinbe also sensed no hostility after he had witnessed Yamato's anger towards the Beasts Pirates who were attempting to run away.[10] Yamato grew closer to the Straw Hats as Luffy and Zoro recovered, becoming friendly with them by the time the two woke up. When he declared that he couldn't join the crew in order to protect Wano, it hurt Sanji deeply, while Zoro told him to be careful not to hurt Momonosuke's pride, which Yamato understood.[22] Later he went to say goodbye to all of them together with Momonosuke and Kin'emon.[11]

Portgas D. Ace Yamato Drinks WIth Ace Yamato sharing drinks with Ace.

Yamato met the young pirate Ace about four years before the main story and was initially antagonistic towards him due to his excessive rampage on Onigashima. The two quickly became friends, however, after Ace recognized that Yamato was being held captive by Kaidou. As they drank sake together, they talked about the current generation of pirates and Ace's little brother, Luffy.[12] Yamato would have liked to sail out of Wano with the Spade Pirates, but was kept prisoner on Onigashima, shackled with explosive handcuffs.[3][12] However, he created a Vivre Card for Ace so they could meet again.

Yamato thought highly of Ace and believed he would be the one leading the new generation of pirates, until his untimely death at Marineford two years ago.[23] This is also evidenced by his conversation with Luffy, in which Yamato fondly stated that Luffy was reminiscent of Ace and that, although it was impossible to set sail with Ace, it would be possible to leave with Luffy due to them being brothers.

Nami:

"Cat Burglar" Nami is the navigator of the Straw Hat Pirates and one of the Senior Officers of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet. She is the third member of the crew and the second to join, doing so during the Orange Town Arc. She is the adoptive sister of Nojiko after the two were orphaned and taken in by Bell-mère.

She was formerly a member of the Arlong Pirates who initially joined the Straw Hats to rob them in order to buy back her village from Arlong, and served as a supporting antagonist during the Baratie Arc. However, she legitimately joined the Straw Hats after they defeated Arlong. Her dream is to make a map of the entire world.

She first gained a bounty of Beli16,000,000 following the raid on Enies Lobby. It later increased to Beli66,000,000 after the Dressrosa Arc. Following the Raid on Onigashima, her bounty was increased to Beli366,000,000.

Personality Overview Along with Nico Robin, Usopp, Sanji, Tony Tony Chopper, and Franky, Nami is one of the smartest of the Straw Hats. And according to an SBS from volume 8 (1999), Oda said that "of all the characters introduced so far in One Piece" Nami was the third smartest character in the East Blue (the first is Benn Beckman of the Red Hair Pirates, the 2nd being Captain Kuro).[19] Though given how few characters were introduced and properly developed at that time, that quote should be taken with a grain of salt.

At the beginning of the series, Nami despised all pirates. She viewed them as universally evil after losing someone close to her to pirates, only changing her mind after she met Luffy (although Nami still reminds Luffy that not all pirates are like him). Before her view on pirates changed, she was perfectly fine with giving a captive Luffy up to Buggy but refused to kill him when asked by Buggy to do so, as she could not bring herself to stoop to their level. Nami has been deeply affected by her adoptive mother's death and Arlong's enslavement and imprisonment of her. She remembers vividly of the abuse she suffered such as one of Arlong's crewmates refusing to feed her as well as the pain and exhaustion on the streets from stealing money in an attempt to buy back the village from Arlong.[20] Upon failing to do so, Nami was utterly distraught and when Genzo and rest of the villages went to die for her, Nami took the knife she was holding and madly stabbed her shoulder before Luffy stopped her. Her experiences left Nami with many painful memories, that she has since then successfully buried but Nami still retained a fear and distrust of the Fish-Men race as a whole until she learned the painful history of human cruelty towards Fish-Men. By the time the crew reached Fish-Man Island, she was willing to give Fish-Men a chance and even befriends some of them while claiming she solely held a grudge against Arlong.[21]

Nami is also disbelieving in myths and legends, as she dismissed Devil Fruits as myths, disbelieved the existence of Skypiea, and was dubious over claims of a connection between Sanji and the "mythical evil army", Germa 66. Ironically, all these legends were proven true to her when she saw Buggy's Bara Bara no Mi in action, when Robin insisted that the Log Pose pointing at Skypiea was proof of its existence, and when Pekoms confirmed Germa and Sanji's history together. Nami was shocked to see and hear that she was wrong but slowly accepted the unbelievable things in front of her.

Nami can be seen ordering the crew to lift the mast or draw the sails. If she deems an island dangerous, she will often try to convince Luffy (usually along with Usopp and Chopper) to not go there but will nonetheless follow Luffy's orders when he demands so. She seems like a coward, but she has been referred to by multiple people being a "bold woman." Usually, she is called that when she stands up for her crew and what she believes to be right. She is aware of the dangers they face every day and has a much better understanding of the world and its more dangerous individuals (e.g., the Seven Warlords of the Sea) than most of her crew does, though lacks Robin's knowledge on some of its other powerful figures (e.g., the Marine Admirals) and organizations (e.g., the Four Emperors). She can be devilish and cunning at times,[22] and if she feels like it will even give her fights to Luffy, Zoro or Sanji. She is the only one among the crew to be visibly concerned and upset whenever their bounties go up, something the others usually react to with indifference or even joy.

Nami Drinking Nami drinking.

After the two-year timeskip, she now appears calmer in more daunting situations, most notably when the fake Nami held a gun to her head, implying she has become fairly confident in her abilities. It seems this confidence is paradoxical however, as Nami herself states she isn't weak, but she is a "scaredy-cat". True to her word, she and Usopp became extremely confident they could take down Baby 5 and Buffalo, once the threat of their retaliation was no longer a factor. Nami is still prone to panic in the face of imminent danger (shown during the descent to Fish-Man Island and Sanji's declaration that he would counterattack the Big Mom ship), and her love of money causes her to resort to her old antics of hitting the male crew members. She still has an extremely high tolerance for alcohol during celebrations.

As shown in Jaya, Nami appears to be terrified of bugs and spiders. She screamed and panicked when Usopp pointed out a tarantula crawling up her back and remained scared for the rest of the hunt for the South Bird as more insects emerged.[23] This phobia was shown again in an anime filler scene in the Whole Cake Island Arc where the Sanji Retrieval Team battled against the giant ants. While the rest of the team fought the creatures, Nami elected to just run away from them, saying she could not stand it.[24]

Nami Relaxing Film Z Nami relaxes in a deck chair while Sanji serves her.

From time to time, Nami enjoys casual and leisurely activities, and the most common of these is reclining in a deck chair, often to sunbathe, read, or relax under the shade of a parasol umbrella.[25] Nami sometimes sits in her chair after taking a swim in the Thousand Sunny's pool. In fact, the pictures for her wanted posters were taken while she posed next to pools.[11][18] While she is in her deck chair, she may be accompanied by Robin or presented a refreshing snack or drink by Sanji, but she does not take kindly to the rest of the crew's rambunctious antics on the ship, which tend to disturb her as she relaxes.

She will also not hesitate to strip down or outright discard pieces of an outfit if it is hindering her in times of danger, such as ripping the hem of her already ruined dancer's dress to flee from Zala, pulling off her shirt to dive into a Milky Road, and wriggling out of her denim jacket after Kumadori had pinned her down by her denim jacket and was about to strike her with a deadly blow. Nami has shown dismay at clothes she is particularly fond of being ruined, angrily striking Luffy when she saw her jacket torn up when she lent it to him in the Drum Island Arc. Likewise, she will even tear apart someone else's clothes if she has to, not hesitating to shred an unconscious Kalifa's clothes after their battle to find a potential key to Robin's Seastone cuffs in the Enies Lobby Arc. In the Whole Cake Island Arc, when her clothes were burned off by Jinbe, Nami wasted no time stripping a nearby prisoner of his clothes. Nami is also willing to borrow other people's clothes, such as borrowing Sanji's jacket to wear at the end of the Little Garden Arc after Usopp's plan to save her, Vivi, and Zoro had burned her shirt, leaving her with a black bra on, until she could get a replacement shirt after returning to the Going Merry.[26]

Nami is easily surprised and shocked by the more outlandish things in the series, yelling at the crew when they don't seem as concerned as her. Nami even expressed shock at a talking, clothed crocodile, despite traveling around with Chopper and Carrot from the Mink Tribe as Luffy pointed out and said she should be used to things by now.[27]

Nami is greedy and will do mostly anything for money and treasure, accepting any challenge that comes along. Her love of money stems from her childhood, where she lived a poor life and was often upset at having little wealth despite the love of her adopted mother. She became even more obsessed when her family’s poor status led to her mother’s death. She grew up constantly getting money through theft to pay for the freedom of her village. While she will send in Luffy and the rest of the crew to meet the demand, the one thing she will not do is sell out a comrade, no matter what the sum. She has several times put her own crewmates in debt over trivial matters (like Luffy for tearing her coat and Zoro for borrowing Beli100,000 only not to spend it and return it later). Her usual charge for repaying the debt is 300% interest, and she will often bring up these debts in order to get someone to do something for her. She takes control of the amount of money the crew spends, ever aware of the crew's spending habits (such as Luffy's desire to spend all they have on meat) and tries her hardest to avoid it getting spent all at once.

To this end, she is in complete horror whenever the rest of the crew wastes money or passes up an opportunity to get it. Her desire for money is such that she attempted to seduce an eight-year-old boy once discovering his wealthy heritage (although it was in a brief joke-like manner).[28] She is also very shameless when it comes to stealing from other people and is actually quite proud of her thieving skills. She often "bargain" with shopkeepers to give her massive discounts whenever she goes shopping, much to their chagrin.

Overview Being the assigned navigator of the Straw Hat Pirates, Nami is responsible for evaluating the direction that the ship goes as they sail further into the sea. Nami also tends to act as the crew's de facto treasurer, managing the crew's money and allocating spending money whenever they arrive at a new location.

Nami is an accomplished and agile polearm user. Knowing she lacks the raw strength of most of her crewmembers, she uses her cunning and specially designed weapons to combat opponents who are her physical superiors. While she tries to avoid combat as much as possible, when the need arises Nami gives her all in battle and has defeated some fearsome fighters.

Despite being one of the weakest members of the crew, Nami nonetheless possesses a strong enough will to be able to withstand a burst of Big Mom's Supreme King Haki just like the rest of her crewmates

Physical Abilities Nami had spent several years from her tender childhood to her young adult life stealing money from numerous people including dangerous pirates to buy back her village from the Arlong Pirates. These harsh and sometimes brutal experiences granted Nami a very high level of physical capabilities. In the Water 7 Arc, she demonstrated exceptional agility and incredible leg strength, being able to jump the wide distances between rooftops in Water 7. Nami is also physically very strong and fit, and when she is extremely enraged, especially from Luffy's reckless spending, she can pack extremely powerful punches to give vicious beatings, which can cause Luffy, who is tremendously durable, to have brutal and bloody bruises. (This, however, is mainly a gag for comedy, and not representative of Nami's actual strength) While on Weatheria, Nami showed she was capable of running extremely quickly while carrying both a heavy bag much larger than herself and Haredas with great ease.

Although not as skilled at fighting as a few of her crewmates, Nami is still capable of holding her own against weaker foes. When she was grabbed by a Marine officer Nami brought him down with one savage punch and defeated another Marine with barrage of kicks. In Little Garden, when freed from turning into a wax statue, she was able to incapacitate Miss Valentine with a single hit from her bo, along with Princess Vivi. When she was fighting Kalifa, Nami withstood a Shigan from the assassin despite it being a technique that brought down Paulie, a strong foreman. Nami also survived breathing in the toxins from the Daft Green plant, which is so poisonous it can kill quickly if inhaled repeatedly. Nami survived several minutes before getting the cure. Nami has also supported Luffy in an 11-hour fight with Charlotte Cracker, one of the Sweet Commanders of the Big Mom Pirates, which shows that she has high levels of endurance.

Nami was also shown to possess great skill with a bo staff which she would often use for self-defense before acquiring the Clima-Tact. However, because she was usually outmatched by the monstrous foes that they met at sea, she typically relied on her crewmates to fight in her place. Nami also appears to have great skill with ropes, being able to tie up and capture Luffy from behind.

After the two years of extensive training on Weatheria, Nami's physical abilities have vastly improved along with her fighting skills with the Clima-Tact, now capable of handling tougher opponents on her own. An example of this is seen when she has gained significantly high amount of superhuman strength able to easily deflect a sneak attack from a fish-man, who possess ten times the strength of a regular human. Most notably, Nami's dexterous skill with the staff was shown when she reacted to a weakened Wanda's attack before Sanji and Brook were able to save Nami from having to defend herself. After stopping Wanda in her tracks and overpowering her, Nami then managed to pin the weakened mink to the ground.[20] Nami also managed to defeat Brûlée, a moderately powerful daughter of Big Mom. She managed to survive a headbutt from Ulti although Nami noted that another would kill her.

Nami has also shown her already exceptional agility has greatly improved from two years of training as she was able to swiftly dodge Wanda's attack by somersaulting with great ease. She still has limitations however, as when Sanji was trying to outrun Smiley's gas he noted her body could not keep up with the pace of Zoro, Brook, and Kin'emon for long, until he touched her breasts and got a speed boost from over-excitement.[21]

Navigation and Cartography Expertise Nami is a highly skilled navigator and an extremely talented cartographer. Arlong considered her skills on par with the fish-men "superiority" since they were superior to any fish-man's. When Luffy destroyed her room at Arlong Park, both bathymetric and geographic maps were seen, proving that Nami has a wide variety of cartographic skills.[22]

She is capable of formulating advanced equations in mere minutes to predict a precise course of action, although she usually needs to write the equations down on a physical medium when formulating them. She has a supernatural ability to sense changes in the weather, "with her body" according to Vivi, and can even predict the emergence of supposedly unpredictable cyclones in the Grand Line, undeterred even by a high fever. This ability, combined with her years of knowledge in cartography and navigation, has also made Nami an expert in meteorology. Not only has she been shown to continuously and accurately predict various normal weather conditions, but she is also capable of predicting and handling the almost unnatural, unpredictable, and inexplicable weather conditions of the Grand Line, being more than capable of navigating through these conditions.

This attribute proved useful during Nami's one-on-one altercation with Enel, where she managed to deflect several of the Goro Goro no Mi user's lightning-based attacks using only "Thunder Balls" from her first Clima-Tact. It could be assumed that after the timeskip, her navigation skills have greatly improved due to her study of the New World climate with the help of Haredas, as even Caribou immediately recognized and praised her skills as a navigator during their descent to Fish-Man Island.

Skilled Thief and Pickpocket Apart from her navigational skills, Nami has also proven herself to be an excellent thief and a master pickpocket. She is able to take small items, such as keys, without her victims noticing, a skill she honed from a young age. For example, while Wapol was chasing her inside Drum Castle, she managed to steal the arsenal key from his belt without him noticing, hoping it was the key to some treasure vault.[23]

One of her most notable thieving feat was shown just before she left her village. At the harbor, she stole numerous wallets from the villagers saying goodbye to her while she was running past them, and among the villagers and the Straw Hats, plus Johnny and Yosaku, no one noticed until she revealed what she had done.[24] Perhaps her greatest thieving feat is stealing Zeus, one of Big Mom's most powerful Homies, from her.

She now uses this skill to steal from other pirates, and occasionally government employees, more often than not sneaking aboard their ship or base and taking all their valuables while they are distracted by some fight. Her skill at thievery has even been recognized by the World Government and has earned her the epithet "Cat Burglar".

Financial Expertise Nami has strong memory when it comes to finances since she is mainly handling the Straw Hats' financials due to her fondness of money. While shopping, Nami tends to negotiate as seen during the Return to Sabaody Arc where Nami demanded a discount over the clothes that she attempted to buy at a fashion shop, much to the shopkeeper's chagrin. As seen at Water 7, she can be skillful in a financial negotiation as she skillfully negotiated with the bank staff in giving Beli300,000,000 for Skypiea's treasure instead of the initial offer of Beli100,000,000. She also demanded Beli1,000,000,000 from Vivi for their co-operating on Whisky Peak, but later decided to give up on it for the sake of friendship between her and Vivi after the Arabasta Civil War ended.

Negotiation Nami is a very convincing person, so much so that she has shown herself to be quite the negotiator in her own right. She has shown to be able to negotiate on behalf of most of the Straw Hats, although most of the negotiations are charged with financials or anything else that would be for her own benefits. Although she mostly handles the financial negotiations, she also able to negotiate in other aspects especially when the Straw Hats do not have much to bargain with, such as making some relationship with others and also keeping the Straw Hats cool during negotiations. As a result of this, one of the biggest benefits is that Nami is usually able to manipulate people and obtain more information on her own. She is able to achieve great things with this skill.

Examples of this include her manipulating Luffy and the crew into trusting her so she could steal the Going Merry, negotiating with Vivi at Whisky Peak on matters involving her protection from Baroque Works agents, her negotiation with the bank staff at Water 7, tricking and befriending Lola's zombie, easily manipulating the residents of Weatheria into forgiving her earlier escape attempts and thefts, and even convincing them to give her a house and other various things so she could stay on the island to train for two years. In addition to the latter, she also managed to convince Haredas to teach her more about the Weather Balls and the changing climates and weather patterns of the New World during her two years of training, despite the fact that she had previously taken him hostage in order to get off Weatheria. More recently, she used her Vivre Card to force the homies in the Seducing Woods to help and protect herself and Luffy against Cracker. She later blackmailed Kingbaum into helping the Sanji Retrieval Team escape from the Big Mom Pirates after the wedding. She also used Zeus' gluttony for her lightning clouds as a bargaining chip to make Zeus become her servant and later took advantage of his attribute as a cloud to force him to discharge massive amounts of lightning at Big Mom herself twice.

Art of Weather Further information: Art of Weather Clima-tact new and improved Nami wielding her Sorcery Clima-Tact after the timeskip.

Nami's fighting style focuses mainly on using the Clima-Tact to manipulate the weather of her surroundings, also known as the "Art of Weather". When combined with her immense knowledge of meteorology and weather systems, this ability can be used for devastating results.

Clima-Tact Further information: Art of Weather/Clima-Tact Nami first gained the ability to manipulate the weather when Usopp gave her the Clima-Tact. The flaw with his invention, however, was that it was primarily for party tricks.[25] Regardless of this conflict, due to her expertise she was able to combine several of its functions in order to pull off dangerous and useful techniques, like creating a mirage of herself, (Mirage Tempo) in order to distract her opponent,[26] and a powerful lightning cloud (Thunderbolt Tempo), which was used on Miss Doublefinger,[27] who thought she was a magician.

Perfect Clima-Tact Further information: Art of Weather/Perfect Clima-Tact After the Skypiea Arc, Usopp improved the Clima-Tact with Dials, creating the Perfect Clima-Tact. This improvement gave her much greater power over the weather, allowing her to easily pull off stronger and newer versions of the tricks she could do with the Clima-Tact, like creating duplicates of herself using mist (Mirage Tempo: Fata Morgana). This weapon was also powerful enough to allow her to wipe out hordes of Marines with Thunderbolt Tempo and defeat CP9's Kalifa with Thunder Lance Tempo. There was still a flaw in its use, however, as Nami was unable to properly control the lightning and her allies would sometimes sustain collateral damage.

Sorcery Clima-Tact Further information: Art of Weather/Sorcery Clima-Tact After the timeskip, her abilities are greatly enhanced, being able to easily destroy a bar and a submarine (and harm the occupants of both) with lightning blasts that can be compared to an attack by Enel. At the stand-off between Neptune's soldiers with Usopp and Brook, she wielded the upgraded version of the Clima-Tact with the disappearance of the balls, which she now calls the Sorcery Clima-Tact. When the Straw Hats arrived at Gyoncorde Plaza, Nami's "Mirage Tempo" was shown to have improved to the point of making herself appear completely invisible, and she was also able to shoot a powerful gust of wind she named Gust Sword to easily dispatch a fish-man.

She can now use and create weather in more creative ways, like launching an egg which hatches to release a large thundercloud that she can then take control of in order to strike down her opponent(s), which she calls "Thunder Breed Tempo", and creating an orb at the end of one of the three segments of her Clima-Tact which possesses enough heat to melt snow and harm a snow woman like Monet (Heat Egg). This new Clima-Tact has also been proven to not only be useful for battle situations, but regular daily uses as well, such as taking showers (Shower Tempo) and making paths for travel with sea clouds (Milky Road). The latter is an achievement of its own as sea clouds were shown not to be produced in the Blue Sea.[28]

It is unknown how Nami utilizes the abilities of her new Clima-tact as she rarely spins or shakes her weapon to achieve the desired effects, usually achieving her goal after some verbal queue which names the attack. Most notably, Nami seems to have much more freedom in her control of the phenomena she produces as she was able to direct lightning like a projectile in order to hone in on Baby 5 and Buffalo in the sky, as well as move a thundercloud over the guys who were attempting to peep on her while she bathed, and electrocute them, almost cognitively. Her skills at manipulating the weather have increased to such a point that it appears like she is using magic or ninjutsu, but she herself stated that it is simply chemistry.

Second Model After being further upgraded due to Usopp's Pop Greens and Franky's genius, Nami's new Sorcery Clima-Tact[29] is now the "culmination of all of Weatheria's weather science". The Clima-Tact can now grow or decrease in length when different amounts of pressure are applied, and is easier to twirl and use. It also seems to leave patterns in the air when it is used, overall giving it the feel of a magic wand of sorts. Ironically enough, the only Weatherian device that Usopp failed to implement into the upgraded Clima-Tact was a "magic wand" that he did not quite understand.[30]

After capturing the thundercloud Homie, Zeus, Nami could use her Clima-Tact to store Zeus inside. When necessary, she could use Zeus supplemented with her Clima-Tact abilities to perform destructive lightning attacks. After Big Mom reclaimed Zeus, she lost control of him. After creating Hera, Big Mom abandoned Zeus and the new Homie tried eating him and the thunderclouds Nami tried feeding him, seemingly devouring both.[31]

Having escaped from Big Mom, she heard her Clima-Tact talking to her and found that Zeus' face had attached onto it,[32] eventually learning that Zeus' soul now resides within the Clima-Tact. With the Sorcery Clima-Tact now a sentient weapon, this further enhances its abilities of Zeus being able to change the Clima-Tact to more combat-oriented forms to help aid Nami and can temporarily transfer his consciousness to the clouds that Nami summons, which not only allows him to take on a similar appearance to his former cloud form, but also enables him to take control of Nami's attacks, making them harder to avoid.[33] This power allowed Nami to produce lightning destructive enough to finally defeat Ulti, the immensely durable Tobiroppo, in one strike (Raitei).

Other Techniques Though infrequent, Nami has a couple of other moves that she can use to incapacitate (in more ways than one) her opponents.

Shiawase Punch (幸せパンチ, Shiawase Panchi?, literally meaning "Happiness Punch"): a joke technique that Nami uses to dispatch people watching her bathe; she simply drops her towel, causing everyone in the vicinity to collapse from a massive nosebleed. She also uses this as a get-rich-quick scheme, as she charges Beli100,000 to anyone who sees her doing this.[34] This is called Happiness Punch in the FUNimation dub. In Wano, there was a time she dropped her towel on accident and was genuinely embarrassed by it, but Sanji, who was nearby and invisible due to his Raid Suit, saw her and shouted out the technique's name.[35] Impact (衝撃貝インパクト, Inpakuto?, literally meaning "Impact Shell"): Nami uses an Impact Dial to absorb attacks and then send them back at her opponents. Since she does not have a lot of strength she suffered from the drawback of the Impact Dial. This was shown only when she finished off Hotori with Gan Fall.[36] This technique retains its name in the FUNimation dub. Mirai Kick (未来キック, Mirai Kikku?, literally meaning "Future Kick"): Nami delivers a roundhouse kick. This was first used on Usopp when he insulted her thoughts of finding "future treasure" on Egghead.

Egghead Island Arc:

The Egghead Arc (エッグヘッド編, Egguheddo-hen?),[1] also referred to as the Future Island Arc (未来島編, Mirai-jima-hen?), is the thirty-second story arc of the manga and anime One Piece, the first story arc of the Final Saga, and the ninth story arc of the second half of the series.

As the aftermaths of both the Levely and the Raid on Onigashima as well as the erasure of the Lulusia Kingdom, cause major shifts across the world, the Straw Hat Pirates arrive at the futuristic island Egghead where the super genius Dr. Vegapunk resides. Jewelry Bonney is intent on killing Vegapunk for what he did to Bartholomew Kuma, whose past and connection to Vegapunk are revealed. A CP0 team is dispatched to assassinate Vegapunk, leading to a Marine siege that escalates into an incident that will shock the world.

fter recovering from their dangerous descent down Wano's waterfall, Nami put Luffy in a cage to punish him. They then received the newspaper, learning of their new bounties and about the many massive events that had occurred during their time on Wano.[2] They were horrified at the news of Cobra's death and Vivi's disappearance. Luffy immediately wanted to go and rescue Vivi, but Zoro talked him out of it, saying they should allow Vivi to take care of herself until it becomes clear she was in imminent danger. Luffy refused to believe that Sabo would kill Cobra, recalling the time he declared his dream to Sabo and Ace and thus revealing it to his crew for the first time. They reacted with a mixture of disbelief, wonder and glee. Sanji laughed and said Luffy needed his brain examined. Usopp said that such a thing would be impossible, but Luffy replied that the Pirate King might be able to do it. Franky declared that they needed to find the last Road Poneglyph to help their captain become Pirate King and achieve the dream as soon as possible, but Robin adds that it would not be easy as its whereabouts had been unknown for a long period of time.

The Red Hair Pirates dropped Marco off back at Sphinx, and as he bid farewell to them, Marco recalled his farewell with the Straw Hats on Wano. Yamato had informed the crew of his decision not to join them, as he believed that Wano would need his protection for the time being from threats like Ryokugyu. Marco then arrived to tell the crew he was about to leave, and he, Luffy, and Jinbe reminisced about their first meeting in the Summit War of Marineford. Marco said Ace would have certainly been delighted to see Luffy's growth.

On Karai Bari Island, Crocodile and Mihawk confronted Buggy over why he was being advertised as the leader of Cross Guild, which in reality was created by the two of them. Some days ago, Crocodile contacted Mihawk as the now ex-Warlord was under attack by the Marines and proposed that the two of them team up to take on the Marines. Later, as Buggy was under attack by the Marines, Crocodile arrived at Karai Bari Island and ambushed the attacking fleet. Buggy's henchman believed that Crocodile was working for him, but in reality, Crocodile was after him to collect the money Buggy owed him. With no options left, Buggy offered to work as a servant for Crocodile's new company in order to pay off his debt. However, Buggy's subordinates put their captain front and center when creating a poster to spread word about the Cross Guild, and the World Government misinterpreted the poster as well as Crocodile's attack on the Marines to label Buggy as the company's leader and label him one of the Four Emperors. Because of the massive threat posed by Cross Guild, Crocodile's bounty was raised to Beli1,965,000,000 while Buggy's was raised to Beli3,189,000,000 and Mihawk's raised to over Beli3,590,000,000. Although Crocodile was enraged by this development and proceeded to beat up Buggy in response, Mihawk stated that he had no desire to be an Emperor and that it might actually be advantageous for them if they were to keep Buggy as their figurehead leader, which Crocodile agreed to.A few weeks ago, Koby, Yamakaji, and their fleet assaulted the island, bringing in the new line of Pacifista, Seraphim. The Kuja were left in shock as they came under attack by a cyborg resembling a young version of Hancock. The battle was then interrupted by the arrival of the Blackbeard Pirates, who came to take Hancock's Mero Mero no Mi power. Blackbeard was attacked by a Seraphim resembling a young Mihawk. Hancock used the opportunity to use her ability, turning the Marines and pirates except Koby and Blackbeard to stone. Blackbeard was able to grab hold of Hancock and nullify her ability. They arrived at a standstill as Hancock said that if she were killed, her victims would remain petrified, and Blackbeard would never be able to use her fruit to undo it. Blackbeard ultimately decided to kill her regardless but was stopped by the sudden arrival of Rayleigh, who told the Emperor to depart the island and in return Hancock would reverse the petrification of his crew.

In the present day, Rayleigh remained on Amazon Lily along with Shakky, who was the former Amazon Lily empress and Kuja Pirates captain two generations before Hancock. He remarked it was fortunate everything went the way it did, as he was not sure he would have been able to take on Blackbeard in a battle at this point.

Out at sea, a Marine ship reported via Den Den Mushi that they were setting course for Egghead and that Koby's status was unknown as he had been kidnapped by the Blackbeard Pirates

On Amazon Lily, Gloriosa comments that the island had suffered great damage and that they had never experienced an invasion of this magnitude before, to which Boa Hancock replies that as long as she is there the Marines will not stop coming and adds that she should marry Luffy now, annoying Gloriosa who was already sick of her constantly bringing it up.

In the Kamabakka Kingdom, the Revolutionary Army officers expressed relief that Sabo was still alive, although Dragon was concerned about the report of King Cobra's assassination and said he and Sabo would have a reckoning if he was indeed the one responsible for the incident. Dragon then went up to the liberated Kuma and asked him what he had seen. Right then, the revolutionaries received a call from Sabo, which the Marines were able to intercept.[2] They traced the location of the call to the Lulusia Kingdom, which was one of the kingdoms that had revolted in the Eight-Nation Revolution; the Five Elders were made aware of this and remarked that Sabo was unlucky. In his call, Sabo told his comrades that he had not killed Cobra; in reality, he had seen something terrible. As he was saying this, the citizens of Lulusia looked up as a massive object appeared in the sky, shrouded by clouds. As Sabo began to tell the revolutionaries that the Empty Throne actually possessed an occupant, Imu, who unleashed a rain of lasers from the sky which instantly obliterated Lulusia and left nothing in its wake; it was declared during this attack that Lulusia had never existed to begin with.[3]

Arrival at Egghead: Meeting Dr. Vegapunk A few days after their departure from Wano, the Straw Hats were in a brutally cold climate zone as they approached their next island. They came across a giant Warm Eddy, and spotted a person trapped inside it. Zoro cut through the eddy to free them, and Jewelry Bonney emerged in child form.[3] Luffy jumped in midair and stretched his arms to catch her as well as a blown-overboard Chopper, but the Sunny and crew then came under attack by Mecha-Shark, a giant shark made out of metal. As Luffy, Bonney, and Chopper fell into the ocean, Jinbe went to rescue them while Franky tried piloting the Sunny out of harm's way. However, Mecha-Shark fired homing torpedoes out of its mouth, causing the Sunny to capsize and sink. It then attacked Jinbe's group with cannon fire as the fish-man tried to save the Devil Fruit users, forcing him to dive underwater to escape. Mecha-Shark turned its attention back to the Sunny but was suddenly punched by a person inside a giant mecha.[5]

Meanwhile, at the nearby Marine Base, G-14, Helmeppo and several other Marine officers pleaded to Tashigi and Rear Admiral Prince Grus to let them go and rescue Koby from Hachinosu. Grus refused their request to deploy a Seraphim from Egghead, saying they were in no position to act as they had not been able to get a hold of X Drake.

Jinbe brought Luffy, Chopper, and Bonney onto the nearby island, where they dried their clothes and got warm. Bonney revealed who she was to Luffy and told the three stranded Straw Hats that they were in Egghead, an island home to Dr. Vegapunk's research labs and said to be 500 years in the future. She revealed that she came alone as she had business with Vegapunk, though her ship was devoured by Mecha-Shark before she could reach the island.[5] The four then enter the island, where they were dazzled by the futuristic sights of aliens, giant robots and giant parfaits. However, upon interacting with them, they soon realized they were all holograms. Annoyed, Luffy punches a large robotic girl that talked to him, only to find out it was real when he was punched back. He was knocked into the Automatic Food Machine, which the pirates were very delighted to discover and started playing around with it. As they ate the food dispensed from the machine, the girl started explaining some of the technology around them, the Island A.C. that kept the island warm despite being a winter island, and her Light Pressure Gloves that allow her to interact with holograms. When enquired who she was, she claimed to be Dr. Vegapunk, though Bonney, who said she knew the real Vegapunk, immediately claimed she was lying.[6]

Meanwhile, the mecha that hit Mecha-Shark lifted the Sunny out of the ocean, along with the rest of the Straw Hats and a woman emerged from it, saying Mecha-Shark was a creation she built to guard the island but was acting awry due to its primal desires to eat ships. The woman then also introduced herself as Dr. Vegapunk, to the Straw Hats' great shock.[5] However, when Robin questioned this, knowing for a fact the Vegapunk should be an elderly man, the woman expanded on this by revealing that she was Punk-02, Lilith, not the original Stella, before demanding the Straw Hats to hand over their treasure and surrounding them with giant Sea Beast Weapons. However, Punk-01, Shaka contacted Lilith, scolding her for plundering and warning her of the danger she is in, particularly from Zoro and Robin. After she had realized this, Zoro then started to make demands, with Shaka, who was interested in the crew, obliging.[6] The giant mecha then flew with the Sunny to the top part of the island, the Labophase, as Lilith explained how the machine could currently only work in the vicinity of the island, and how the clouds around the top were Island Clouds and that the lower area was the residential Fabiriophase. The Straw Hats, except for Zoro and Brook, who remained on ship watch duty, then disembarked and obtained some new clothes.[7] While the two swordsmen had tea on the ship, they released Caribou and told him to disembark, despite his protests as the island was a government island.[8]

On Luffy's group's side, after they had eaten their fill, Atlas flew off to do her job of fighting holograms, while the four discovered a Trancos clothes dispenser, and picked out some new attire. However, as they wandered around, a policing Pacifista attacked them, for not paying for the clothes and food. When Luffy attempted to fight back, Bonney intervened, tearfully revealing how Bartholomew Kuma was her father.[9] They eventually managed to escape it thanks to Bonney's Devil Fruit ability altering Luffy and Chopper to their old age, while Jinbe and Bonney became children, fooling the cyborg's detection. Jinbe then revealed what he knew about he knew about Kuma, such as how he was the king of Sorbet Kingdom but was driven out due to his tyranny before becoming affiliated with the Revolutionary Army only to be captured and imprisoned for life. He revealed that thanks to Vegapunk taking interest in him, Kuma gained his freedom as a Warlord at the cost of donating his body to science. However, as Bonney salvaged through a scrap heap, discovering a beam saber in the process, she contradicted many of these "facts", and believed her father would not have willingly sacrificed himself for science as apparently Kuma was part of a certain race that is not known.
