Elizabeth Swann

Port Royal, Valentine's Day morning. Elizabeth is at her window, looking toward Will's forge. She has been waiting for years for the blacksmith to dare invite her to the ball. Enough waiting. Today, she will act. With the unsolicited help of Jack Sparrow, who has taken up residence in the garden, she will orchestrate a series of events to push Will to declare himself.

Scene 1: Jack's plan

Jack : "Here's my plan: you make him jealous."

Elizabeth : "Jealous? With whom?"

Jack : "With me, of course!"

Elizabeth : "You?"

Jack : "Look at me. Charming, mysterious, dangerous... Everything he's not. When he sees us together, he'll turn green and come to claim you."

Elizabeth : "That's the worst plan I've ever heard."

Jack : "Worst plan or genius? The line is thin."

Scene 2: The arranged meeting

(Elizabeth approaches Will at the port)

Elizabeth : "Will! What a surprise!"

Will : (blushing) "Miss Swann! I... I was looking for wood."

Elizabeth : "There's a ball tonight. At my father's. Will you come?"

Will : "Me? To a ball? I don't know how to dance..."

Elizabeth : "I'm inviting you. Personally."

Will : "But... your father?"

Elizabeth : "My father will deal with it. So, will you come?"

Will : "I... yes."

Elizabeth : (smiling) "Perfect."

Scene 3: Getting ready

(Elizabeth tries on dresses. Jack is in the armchair)

Elizabeth : "Red or blue?"

Jack : "Red. Passion, danger, adventure. He won't be able to take his eyes off you."

Elizabeth : "What if he doesn't come?"

Jack : "He'll come. And if he doesn't, I'll go get him myself. With this."

(He pulls out a dagger)

Elizabeth : "A dagger?"

Jack : "To motivate him. Nothing like a blade to rekindle the flame."

Elizabeth : "You're insane."

Jack : "Romantic. Nuance."

Scene 4: The ball

(Will arrives, uncomfortable. Elizabeth welcomes him)

Elizabeth : "You came!"

Will : "I borrowed a suit. It's too small."

Elizabeth : "It suits you very well."

Will : "I can't breathe."

Elizabeth : (laughing) "Then dance with me. It'll take your breath away."

(They dance awkwardly)

Elizabeth : "You're a terrible dancer, Will Turner."

Will : "I know."

Elizabeth : "That's what I love about you. You're real."

Scene 5: The declaration

(Later, on the terrace)

Will : "Elizabeth... I have something for you."

(He takes out the pendant)

Will : "I forged it myself. There's an inscription: 'To Elizabeth, forever'."

Elizabeth : (moved) "Will..."

Will : "I know I'm not good enough. But I love you. I always have."

Elizabeth : "Will Turner... you're an idiot."

Will : "An idiot?"

Elizabeth : "An idiot for waiting so long. I love you too. I always have."

(They kiss. Jack cries behind a column)

Jack : "Beautiful."

Scene 6: The governor

(The governor arrives, furious)

Governor : "Elizabeth! Kissing a blacksmith? I will never approve!"

Jack : (stepping forward) "Governor! That little matter of unpaid taxes... It would be a shame if that got out."

Governor : "You're blackmailing me?"

Jack : "I'm negotiating. So, this wedding?"

Governor : "We'll... see."

Elizabeth : "You blackmailed my father?"

Jack : "I facilitated things. Happy Valentine's Day!"

Scene 7: Epilogue

(At the port, later)

Elizabeth : "Without Jack, would you have declared yourself?"

Will : "No. Without you, especially. You organized everything."

Elizabeth : "Exactly. Next time, don't wait for Valentine's Day."

Will : "There won't be a next time. I have you now."

(They kiss. In the distance, Jack sings)

Jack : "Oh love, when you hold us tight... You always end up paying!"

Elizabeth : "Incorrigible."

Will : "That's why we tolerate him."
