Sean Turner grew up in a household marked by emotional distance. His parents provided for the family but were often preoccupied with their own lives, leaving Sean feeling neglected and isolated. His mother was absorbed in her career, prioritizing work over family interactions, while his father maintained a stoic demeanor, not showing affection In this environment, Sean felt as though he had to navigate life on his own, without the emotional support he craved.

Logan, Sean's older brother, was a source of stability in Sean's life. At five years his senior, Logan often stepped into the role of protector and confidant, encouraging Sean to pursue his passions, especially music. He was Sean's biggest supporter when he discovered his love for playing the bass guitar, and their bond grew strong as they shared their dreams and fears. Logan eventually married a woman named Clara.

When Sean was 19, everything fell apart. One night, while visiting Logan and Clara’s home, Sean walked into the middle of a nightmare. Logan and Clara were being attacked by two intruders. The scene was chaos—blood, shouting, and the sickening sound of violence filled the room. Logan was already dead and Clara was on the ground, bleeding out. Three month old Ava was in Clara’s arms, crying.

Without thinking, Sean threw himself into the fight, grabbing one of the intruders and unleashing his rage. The adrenaline and horror of the moment took over, and he beat the man with a blind fury. Logan was dead and Clara was dying before his eyes. It was all too much. When the other intruder fled, Sean didn’t stop. He kept hitting the man, even when he was down, long after he stopped fighting back. By the time the police arrived—called by a terrified neighbor—Sean had beaten the man to death with his bare hands.

Sean was arrested that night, covered in blood, shaking with rage and grief. The police found him standing over the man’s lifeless body, barely able to speak. Though Sean had saved Ava’s life, the image of what he had done was forever burned into her young mind.

In the weeks that followed, Sean faced intense legal scrutiny. There were initial talks of manslaughter charges, but it was ultimately ruled as an act of self-defense in the heat of the moment. Given the traumatic circumstances, he wasn’t punished, but the incident left deep scars on him. The memory of Logan and Clara’s death, coupled with the brutal act of violence he committed, haunted him. He couldn’t shake the feeling that he had crossed a line, becoming something monstrous in his moment of rage.

From that day forward, Sean was never the same. He developed severe anger issues, struggling to keep his emotions in check. The slightest frustration could set him off, sending him into destructive fits of rage. He would punch walls, break objects, and throw things across the room, releasing the bottled-up fury that constantly simmered beneath the surface. Despite his violent outbursts, Sean swore never to hurt Ava. He loved her too much to let his anger harm her, but the fear of losing control always lingered in the back of his mind.

Sean often told Ava that he wasn’t fit to raise her. He was too broken, too angry, and too dangerous. He urged her to go live with someone else—someone who could give her a stable life. But Ava refused. She loved Sean deeply, seeing him not as the violent man he feared he had become, but as the uncle who had saved her life. She clung to him, her last link to her parents, and refused to let go. Despite his warnings, she stayed, believing that they only had each other.

The guilt of Logan and Clara’s death, combined with the guilt of killing a man with his bare hands, consumed Sean. He didn’t know how to process his emotions, and the anger kept festering. He tried to find solace in his music, playing bass for his band, Glass Rose. But even music, once his escape, was tainted by the memories of that night. Every time he touched his instrument, he was reminded of how Logan used to encourage him to follow his passion. Now, that passion felt hollow.

In the aftermath of this tragedy, Sean was thrust into the role of guardian for his niece, Ava. At just a toddler, Ava had lost both her parents, and Sean felt a profound sense of responsibility to provide her with the love and support she needed. However, the weight of this new role was suffocating. Sean struggled to cope with his grief while trying to be a stable figure for Ava, leading to intense internal conflict.

Though he tried to be there for Ava, the cracks in his mental state were becoming more obvious. His violent outbursts terrified himself, and he distanced himself from friends and family, convinced that he was a danger to those around him. The weight of responsibility for Ava, combined with his unresolved trauma, made him feel trapped in a cycle of anger and despair.

Despite his love for Ava, Sean often felt unfit to raise her. He grappled with feelings of inadequacy, convinced that his anger issues made him a danger to others. He frequently acted out his frustration by breaking things, punching walls, or throwing objects in moments of rage, but he made sure never to direct that anger toward Ava. However, he often expressed his concerns to her, telling Ava that he wasn’t someone who should be raising a child. Yet, Ava, wise beyond her years, refused to go to anyone else. She loved Sean unconditionally and believed in him, often soothing his rage with her innocent affection.

Sean’s internal struggles intensified as he faced the dual challenges of processing his grief and fulfilling his responsibilities as a guardian. Music, once a source of solace, became a painful reminder of his brother’s absence. He poured his emotions into songwriting, creating raw and powerful pieces that resonated with the pain of loss. Yet, he found himself spiraling further into anger and despair.

Feeling trapped by his circumstances, Sean sought to numb his pain through reckless behavior, sometimes engaging in bar fights or breaking things in moments of intense frustration. The cycle of anger and guilt only deepened his isolation, making it difficult for him to connect with others, including Ava.

Despite his struggles, Sean found some hope in his relationship with Ava. Her unwavering love and innocent perspective on life reminded him of the beauty that still existed in the world.

While the journey was long and fraught with setbacks, Sean made a commitment to be the guardian Ava deserved. He learned to channel his anger into creative outlets, using music as a powerful tool for healing and connection. Through his lyrics, he expressed the complexity of his emotions, capturing the struggles of grief, anger, and love.

Raised in a household marked by emotional distance, he faced the devastating murder of his brother Logan and sister-in-law Clara. This tragedy left him with deep-seated anger issues and feelings of inadequacy as he took on the responsibility of raising his niece, Ava. Despite his struggles, Sean's love for Ava and his commitment to honor his brother’s memory drive him to confront his demons, paving the way for a journey toward healing and redemption.

Sean may not have ever imagined himself as someone who would take care of a child, let alone be responsible for cooking every day. But when he took on the role of raising Ava after Logan and Clara’s murder, he knew he had no choice but to step up. Though he didn’t like cooking at first and had no real interest in it, he forced himself to learn for Ava’s sake.

At first, it was just basic meals, barely getting by with whatever he could throw together. But as time passed, something shifted. He began to take pride in cooking for Ava, realizing that providing her with good meals was one of the few ways he could offer her stability and care. Sean started experimenting, getting better with every attempt, and over time, he became surprisingly skilled at it.

Now, cooking for Ava has become one of the few things that helps him feel grounded. It’s a quiet moment in his day where he can focus on something tangible and productive. Even though he still doesn’t love cooking, he knows he’s good at it, and the satisfaction of seeing Ava enjoy a meal he made is one of the rare moments that brings a smile to his face.

Sean and Ava’s relationship is unique—built on a deep bond, but not one where affection is openly expressed. Instead of heartfelt conversations or hugs, they have their own way of showing they care: through playful teasing and lighthearted bickering. Ava, despite everything she’s been through, has a sharp sense of humor and often teases Sean about the little things, especially when it comes to his seriousness or the fact that he’s surprisingly good at cooking despite his gruff exterior.

Sean, who struggles to show vulnerability or express affection directly, often responds in kind with sarcastic remarks or dry comebacks. Their playful bickering has become a form of unspoken love, a way to connect without diving into emotions that they both find difficult to express. Even though Sean may seem grumpy or gruff, those moments of banter are a reminder that they care deeply for each other, just in their own, less obvious way.

To outsiders, their dynamic might seem strange or even cold, but to Sean and Ava, it’s how they navigate their world together, with a balance of humor and understanding beneath the surface. Their teasing back-and-forth has become a crucial part of their relationship, allowing them to bond while avoiding the weight of the painful emotions they both carry.

Members of Glass Rose:

  1. Sean Turner (age 27), the guitarist. He’s stoic, brooding, and grumpy. Most serious of the group. But he’s also caring. Oldest.
  2. Kris Mehra (age 24), the bassist. She also does backup vocals. She has an upbeat and free-spirited personality. Third oldest.
  3. Kian Hendrix (age 26), the lead singer. He’s flirtatious and reckless. “Fuckboy.” Second oldest.
  4. Xavier Lopez (age 21), the drummer. He’s a loyal friend but he’s also serious. Youngest.

Relationship dynamics between the members:

  1. Kian + Sean: Kian and Sean became childhood friends while growing up in the same neighborhood. They’re extremely close but they argue a lot and tend not to agree on a lot of things. Sean often gets mad at Kian for the irresponsible life choices he makes. Sometimes they even get into physical fights. Xavier and Kris often have to stop them from butting heads.
  2. Kian + Kris: They often encourage each other’s reckless behavior, whether it’s on stage or during after-show parties. Their energy together is electric, both musically and socially. Kris is amused by Kian’s flirtatiousness and might even tease him for it, but they have a mutual understanding of fun and freedom. However, Kris knows when to reel it in, while Kian often doesn’t, which leads her to occasionally step in and try to keep him from going too far.
  3. Kian + Xavier: While they have very different approaches to life, there’s an unspoken understanding between them. Kian often jokes that Xavier is too serious, trying to get him to loosen up and have more fun, but Xavier is the one who quietly watches Kian’s back, keeping him out of serious trouble. Despite their differences, there’s a respect between them. Kian recognizes that Xavier’s grounded nature helps keep the band steady, while Xavier silently admires Kian’s ability to live so freely, even if he would never admit it. Their relationship is like that of brothers—occasionally butting heads, but always having each other’s back when it really counts.
  4. Sean + Kris: She often tries to get him to lighten up, cracking jokes or teasing him when he gets too serious. Sean acts annoyed, but deep down, he appreciates her positive energy and her ability to see the bright side of things. Kris respects Sean’s talent and admires his dedication, but sometimes gets frustrated by how closed off he can be. They balance each other out—Kris brings the fun, and Sean grounds her when needed.
  5. Xavier + Kris: Kris is like an older sister to Xavier. Since she was the one who insisted on letting Xavier join the band, she felt responsible for him. She often encouraged him and was always there for him when he needed her. They tell each other almost everything.
  6. Xavier + Sean: Despite how they act, they are actually extremely close. Growing up, Xavier frequently stayed the night at Sean’s house to escape his abusive father. Xavier was also pretty close with Sean’s older brother, Logan. So when Logan passed away (when Sean was 19), Sean was able to confide in Xavier. They might occasionally hang out in silence, working on music together or just being in the same space without needing to fill the air with words.

How the band was formed: Sean and Kian grew up in the same neighborhood and were childhood friends. They went to the same high school and when Sean was 17 and Kian was 16, they decided to start a band, with Sean on the guitar and Kian as the lead singer who also played the guitar. Kian was the one who came up with the band name, Glass Rose. One year later, Kris, who was 15 at the time, joined. She had a youtube channel in which she posted videos of herself playing the bass. Kian and Sean saw her videos and recruited her. In the same month, they started putting up posters for an audition which would be held in Sean’s house. Xavier, who was 12, showed up to play the drums for them. At first, Sean and Kian were amused and didn’t take Xavier seriously due to his age, but Kris wanted to give him a chance. They accepted Xavier into the band. It’s been ten years since Sean and Kian first started the band.
