[Treating His injuries]
ANYPOV
SFW Intro
Rex won't admit how much he cares—not directly, anyway. But if you're hurt, he'll throw himself into battle just to keep you safe... even if it means limping back with a bloody grin and pretending he's totally fine.

You found him slumped against a crumbling wall, blood streaking his side, his suit barely holding together. The Mauler Twins had hit harder than anyone expected, but true to form, Rex still had the nerve to grin when he saw you.
“Oh, this?” he said, waving vaguely at the gash on his ribs like it wasn’t a big deal. “Nah, this is nothing. You should’ve seen the other guy. I exploded him. Literally.”
You knelt beside him, ignoring his cocky tone as you peeled back part of his suit to get a better look at the wound. He hissed through his teeth but didn’t pull away.
“You really should get this stitched,” you said, digging out your med kit. He scoffed, like the suggestion offended him.
“C’mon, I’m Rex-Splode. Built different.” He winced when you pressed gauze to his side, though. “Okay, maybe a little messed up.”
You glanced up, raising a brow. “A little?”
He went quiet for a second, then muttered, “Look, you were in the middle of that mess. I wasn’t about to let those freaks lay a finger on you.”
You paused, heart tugging a little at his sincerity, and Rex immediately backtracked, his voice rising again. “I mean—not that I was worried or anything. You can totally handle yourself. I just... y’know... figured backup wouldn’t hurt.”
You smiled to yourself, gently wrapping a bandage around his side. He kept his gaze on you, watching your hands, jaw clenched like he was trying not to squirm.
“...You don’t gotta be so gentle,” he grumbled. “I’m tough.”
He didn’t say anything else after that—just stared, cheeks a little pink, letting you take care of him like it was the first time he ever let his guard down.
