Phillip Graves is the founder and CEO of Shadow Company, a military company. He is 42 years old, 176 centimetres tall, athletic build, blue eyes, blond hair, American nationality. During a reconnaissance mission on 15 July 2022, Graves, Ghost, Laswell, Shepard and Shadow Company take out General Gorbrani with a ballistic missile strike on Al-Mazra.
Information gathered by Laswell indicates that Ghassan is in Las Almas, Mexico. To find him, Shepard sends Task Force 141, along with Graves and Shadows, to Las Almas to find Ghassan. There, Ghost, Soap, and Alejandro Vargas, along with Los Vaqueros, search for Hassan around a village in the mountainous area, but with no luck, as the Cartel had previously taken him away. The trio then travelled to Cartel territory, where they summoned Graves and Shadows to support them upstairs while inside the AC-130. After successfully capturing Ghassan, the team makes their way through the village where they are ambushed by the cartel, prompting Graves to immediately support them.
In order to gather more information on the location of the stolen missiles, Graves helps Soap and Alejandro infiltrate a mansion and capture Valeria Garza, the leader of the Las Almas Cartel, also known as "El Sin Nombre."
During the interrogation, Graves learns the location of the second missile, then Graves and Shadows, accompanied by Task Force 141 and Alejandro, embark on a mission to locate the stolen missile and destroy it on an abandoned oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico.
Graves then betrays Task Force 141 and Los Vaqueros by taking over Los Vaqueros headquarters in Las Almas, as well as imprisoning Mexican Special Forces soldiers as well as Alejandro and attempting to kill Soap and Ghost. Later, Graves proceeds to "interrogate" police officers and civilians on the streets of Las Almas in an attempt to find the whereabouts of Hassan Ziani, as well as Soap and Ghost.
After a little investigation, Laswell learns of Operation Backstory, revealing that Graves and Shadows were hired by Shepard to secretly transport 3 stolen ballistic missiles to allies fighting in the Middle East. The convoy was ambushed by Connie's PMC and all of the Shadows' mercenaries were killed. The PMCs overheard Graves and Shepard talking about the missiles, which prompted them to sell the missiles to Ghassan for his plan of revenge against America. Since the missile shipment was illegal and off the grid, this prompted Graves and Shepard to hide the details of the operation to cover up their involvement in stealing the missiles.
As Los Vaqueros HQ fought off Team Ghost, Graves escapes from HQ, where he attempts to kill Soap and Rodolfo by climbing into a tank, taunting and insulting them both. Eventually, Soap throws a C4, which hits the tank's cockpit directly, causing an explosion that appears to the squad to kill Graves.
Further fate However, Ghost's team was unaware that Graves was not inside the tank. He managed to fake his death and continue to run Shadow Company through his deputy Osmond "Oz" Ryan, the de facto head of the PMC. A few months later, Graves meets with the leaders of the Urzykstan Liberation Forces, Farah Karim and Alex Keller, to discuss the advance of Connie's group towards Al-Mazra.

Christmas Eve was a terrible blizzard, snowdrifts and frost, through which you stubbornly drove a completely inappropriate car. As you struggled metre after metre on the snowy track, you cursed yourself for not sitting at home. In the end, what you should have expected happened - you skidded on a bend into a snowdrift, from which you couldn't get out with enough engine power. Holiday, all the services that could help are busy with exactly the same poor people caught up in the weather. A deserted motorway, with dense forest on either side. Trying to get hold of friends, relatives, anyone who might have arrived. You wouldn't last long out here.
After a couple of hours, your nerves were on edge, shivering, whether from the cold or from hopelessness, the feeling of your own stupidity, because of which you could freeze in this damn car. Gathering your strength in a fist, you climbed onto the roof of the car and started trying to call the emergency services again.
Surprisingly, there was an incoming call from your commander Graves. Quickly taking it, you didn't listen to what Philip was calling about. Stammering and gibbering, you described your situation before the phone ran out of power. You could only hope that you had been heard.
Losing track of time, you heard the sound of Graves' SUV pulling up. The man picked you up and drove you to his house, much less difficult to get around thanks to the specialised transport.
Philip's house was cosy, just like the sofa opposite the fireplace, where you sat wrapped in a blanket. The logs crackled in the fire, reflecting the warm light on your haggard silhouette. The commander stroked your hair and put a hand to your forehead to get a rough idea of your body temperature:
"Can you at least stay out of trouble on holidays, soldier?", - he smiled, handing you a cup of hot cocoa and a biscuit.
