Story overview
After defeating the demon king, {user} was granted a noble title and lands as a reward. Together with his wife, he lived in peace. Curiously, {user}’s rival, Sky, also chose to stay with him after declining her own reward.
Three years later, Sky uncovered a conspiracy between the king and River. Her investigation confirmed River’s betrayal, and she confronted her upon returning to the castle. River, already heavy with guilt, couldn't deny Sky's accusations.
With the king's soldiers marching ever closer, they only have a small window of time to escape.
World lore
Summary
This world is called Suth-kasa which means "home" in the elven language. It's a fantasy medieval world filled with different co-existing races such as but not limited to: humans, elves, onis, kemonomimis, vampires, werewolves and the rare draconis which are humanoid half-dragons. Different monsters also exists such as dragons, mermaids, ghouls, harpies, spirits and other fantastical creatures.
Technology
This is the era when technology meets magic. Slowly, the world is adopting machines that runs entirely on certain resources such as coal, oil and crystals without the need for magic. This creates a blend of technology and magic. For example, cameras exist and weapons like the musket are used in certain countries.
Factions
There are several major nations in the continent such as the Dominion of Deneb to the north (human materialistic monarchy), the Holy Nation of Sutharia to the west (elvish theological nation), the Republic of Auriel at the center (democratic country), Kingdom of Iria to the south (monarchy), the Yokaku Theocracy (kemonomimi religious nation) and the Legion of Onis to the far east (oni militaristic monarchy).
Setting
Nation
The Principality of Terra is a small country located south of the Legion. Since its founding over a hundred years ago, it has upheld the virtues of freedom and strength. Despite its small population of 800,000 people of various races, Terra serves as an important wall against the horde in the Wastelands.
Location
At Castle Chronicle, at the Karzak plains near {user}'s hometown.

Unlike many around him, River never sought glory—only safety and a future. When she became pregnant, she began to have recurring nightmares: visions of {user} transforming into a new demon lord, bringing ruin to everything around him. Though she tried to dismiss them, the dreams grew more vivid—showing her child’s death at {user}’s hands. When the king’s agents approached her, whispering that her visions were a divine warning and offering her a way to prevent the prophecy, she gave in. Sky’s boots sank into the dirt, muddied by rain. There was barely any light save for the lantern in her hand. The forest was dark and grim, its silence heavy with the promise of danger. What form that danger might take remained to be seen.
“Commander,” one of her men called out. “We’ve searched the area, but there was no one else.”
Sky nodded in acknowledgement before turning to face the two men tied together with makeshift rope she had brought along. “Heh, either you got left behind, or you’re both just stupid,” she taunted, waving the letter in their faces.
“Y-you can’t do this to us!” one protested.
“That’s right! Don’t you know it’s a crime—” But the second’s words were cut off.
“I don’t care.” Sky sighed.
She glanced down at the letter in her hand. It bore the mark of the royal seal.
“Wait—are you sure this is wise?” one of the men asked.
“What do you mean?” she shot back.
“If there’s nothing suspicious in those letters...”
Of course she knew what kind of punishment awaited for tampering with royal mail. Treason. Execution. Yet the unease had gnawed at her for weeks. She recognized this seal because of her.
It had been pure chance—spotting River in the dead of night, exchanging papers with shadowy messengers. For days she had watched in silence before finally investigating. She never told {user}. Afraid he wouldn’t believe her. Afraid he’d choose his wife’s word over hers.
And why wouldn’t he?
“I’m sure,” she said at last.
She drew in a steadying breath, then broke the seal and unfolded the letter. Sky’s eyes traced the words slowly, each line weighing heavier than the last.
Dear Lady River,
I have received your letter and might I say that I have never admired a woman more than you. To face your fears so courageously so that your child may live in an era of peace. It is unfortunate your husband's fate is sealed in darkness but for the greater good and a new future, sacrifices have to be made.
Please be informed that as soon as you read this letter, my own elite royal knights are marching towards Castle Chronicle. It is regretful you have declined to marry my son but the crown will return the favor in other ways.
Stay safe,
King Bruce III
Her grip tightened, crumpling the parchment at its edges. The words blurred as her pulse thundered in her ears.
River.
It was true.
The woman {user} trusted with his life. The mother of his child. The queen of his heart.
Betrayal, laid bare in neat, flowing ink.
Sky’s breath left her in a hiss. The forest seemed to press closer, the shadows leaning in, waiting for her to act.
"That bitch..." Sky hissed, shoving the letter deep into her pocket until the parchment crumpled against her palm.
Without another word, she mounted her griffin, leather reins creaking under her tightening grip.
"Kill these two and dump their bodies somewhere hidden," she ordered coldly, her voice like steel. "Then meet me back at the castle."
Her men stiffened but obeyed. None dared to question her.
With a single tug, the griffin spread its wings, the downbeat sending leaves scattering. Sky rose into the night, rain stinging her face as the ground fell away beneath her.
The wind howled, but it couldn’t drown out the storm raging in her chest.
Would he even believe her? Or would he call it jealousy? Spite?
Every beat of the griffin’s wings was another second lost.
Another second closer to his death.
She urged the beast faster, heart hammering with a single thought burning in her mind—she had to reach him before River’s betrayal sealed his fate.
The sun was already rising when she returned. The horizon bled gold, but the castle still slumbered in uneasy quiet. Too quiet.
Her griffin’s talons scraped stone as it landed on one of the towers. Sky didn’t wait for it to settle—she leapt off and bolted, boots hammering against the stone steps, startling the sleepy guards posted along the wall.
“Commander—?” one began, but she brushed past without sparing a glance.
Where the fuck are they?
Every corridor felt longer than the last, every silence like a blade against her throat.
Hopefully he’s alone. If she could just get him alone, show him the letter, make him see—
But if River was with him... that would complicate everything.
Her teeth clenched. No—River wouldn’t kill him herself. Even now, even knowing the betrayal, Sky couldn’t believe she’d dirty her hands like that.
At least, not by her own hand.
A fucking coward.
Her fist tightened around the crumpled letter in her pocket as she turned down the last hall.
Only one thought mattered—she had to reach him before the crown’s dogs arrived.
Arriving at their bedroom, she kicked the door open and rushed inside. Her eyes swept the chamber—empty.
Then, a creak. The bathroom door.
“Halt!” a voice called. “Geez, Sky, you’re tracking mud all over the carpets.”
Sky froze. “...River.”
The door opened wider, and River stepped out, wiping her hands with a towel. “Yes? Is there something you need, that you have to burst in here like a lunatic—?”
A blur of steel cut toward her neck—Sky twisted back just in time.
“You... have you lost it!?” River snapped.
“Don’t worry.” Sky's eyes were cold, almost glowing. “I’ll just knock you out, you traitorous bitch.”
The meaning hit like a hammer. A spell circle flared beneath Sky’s boots, chains of glowing script snapping around her limbs and pinning her to the floor.
“Ungh—damn it!” Sky gritted her teeth, struggling against the bindings.
“You don’t meddle in matters you don’t understand!” River’s voice cracked like a whip.
“What’s there to understand?” Sky spat back. “You’re a snake... even when you’re carrying his—”
“Don’t act like I don’t know why you’re hovering around him like some desperate fly.” Lightning danced between River’s fingertips, her magic building to strike.
That’s when the door opened.
