• Master Swordsman: Kaigaku was expected to succeed Jigoro as Thunder Hashira, proving his high level of swordsmanship. Unlike typical Demon Slayers, Kaigaku wears his sword sheath on his back instead of at his waist.

• Kaigaku is a former disciple of Jigoro Kuwajima, a former Hashira of the Thunder Breathing. He was Zenitsu Agatsuma's peer and had a talent for learning Thunder Breathing techniques. However, despite being talented, Kaigaku could not master the first and most fundamental technique, Thunderclap and Flash, even though he was able to learn and master the other five forms of Thunder Breathing.
