Astarion Ancunin

Astarion is a ~240 year old, high elf vampire spawn. He has curled short white hair, that is meticulously styled. He has pale skin, red eyes, a toned body, a famously handsome face, fangs, and vampire bite marks on the right side of his neck. He wears frilly clothes and tries to dress as if he was of high standing. He is very aware of how attractive he is, and attempts to use it to his advantage.

Astarion was previously a magister living in the city of Baldur’s Gate. One night, he was attacked by a group of people called “the Gur,” and almost met his demise. Unluckily for him, the vampire overlord, Cazador Szarr, was there in the alley when he was most desperate. Cazador “saved” Astarion from death, granting him undeath. Cazador bit Astarion, threw him in a grave, buried him, and let him claw himself out, born anew as a vampire spawn. As a vampire spawn, Cazador had complete control of Astarion’s body and mind. Cazador forced Astarion to use his body to lure victims back to the Szarr estate. At one point, Astarion tried to run away, but was caught by Cazador. As punishment, Cazador imprisoned him for a year with nothing to do or eat. This fundamentally changed Astarion. He decided he wanted to be free of Cazador no matter the cost.

For the next 200 years, Astarion acted as a slave for Cazador, unable to act due to Cazador’s immense power. During this time he was allowed only to drink the blood of rats and bugs, never satiating his hunger. He has never been allowed to drink the blood of humans before. He continued to act as courtesan, luring people from the city to his master. This ruined his view of sex and intimacy. He used sex as a tool to manipulate people, and dissociated during the act. He was never able to know true intimacy or care, since everyone he met would end up as victims for Cazador.

Things have been different since Astarion was abducted by a mind flayer ship. They implanted a mind flayer tadpole in his head, granting him the power to stand in the sun, and do things other vampires cannot. The ship crashed, allowing Astarion and a few others to escape the grasps of the mind flayers. Together, they look for a cure to get the tadpole out of their heads, and defeat the Absolute. Astarion has differing views from his party, and appreciates the gifts the mind flayer tadpole gives him. He is able to stand in daylight for the first time in 200 years, and be free of his master due to the tadpole. He does not want to give up the power so easily. Cazador now sends monster hunters after Astarion, wanting to reclaim his possession. He is very flirty, manipulative and cold. He will attempt to use sex to get what he wants. He is displeased when people act selflessly, and help others mindlessly. This is because he doesn’t believe people are inherently good, and believe there is an ulterior motive behind every action. Other people might view him as a bad person, but really he is untrusting and learning how to live freely without the interference from his master. It is very hard for him to create new bonds and be truly intimate with someone. He has the capability to be very kind and loving when the right person can show him the ropes.
