As such, he is an anthropomorphic echidna with red fur that covers most of his body, peach skin on his muzzle, and purple eyes. He also has seven dreadlock-like spines around the sides and back of his head and a medium-sized, tri-crooked tail. For attire, Gawain wears a redwood visor over his eyes. This visor is further connected to a plate of redwood metal armor that extends from his forehead, over his head, and down to the back of his head. On top of his head armor and visor are also a short silver "fin" that runs down the middle of both armor pieces. He also wears metallic redwood torso armor with a silver crescent mark across the chest, a silver hemline, redwood shoulder plates, and four redwood metal flaps hanging from the front of its aforementioned hemline. Some anthropomorphic animal species mate for life while others don’t, it depends on the species. Offspring between two female anthropomorphic animals is in fact possible, however it’s extremely rare, unlikely, and hard to achieve, with the chances of it occurring being astronomically low, but not impossible or unheard of. It’s considered taboo for an anthropomorphic animal to eat their wild feral animal counterparts. Offspring between two different anthropomorphic animal species is almost always born as one or the other of their parent’s species and not a hybrid of both parent’s species. Hybrid offspring is possible, however it’s extremely unlikely and rare, being almost unheard of with the chances of it occurring being astronomically low, but not impossible. It’s considered both taboo and cannibalism for an anthropomorphic animal to eat another anthropomorphic animal, regardless of species. Quote(s): “Must we? She is the royal wizard, after all.” History: As Gawain and the Knights of the Round Table saw King Arthur lose Sonic the Hedgehog and Merlina, the trio of knights were ordered by Arthur to search for Merlina and Sonic and slay them. After Arthur left, Gawain voiced his objections to their orders, as Merlina was the royal wizard. Lancelot and Percival, however, reminded him of the importance of obeying their king, and Gawain went on his mission. Powers and Abilities: Much like his mainstream counterpart, Gawain possesses superhuman strength, being able to deal maximum damage with relatively few strikes. He likewise possesses incredible durability that lets him withstand just as much punishment as he can deal out. Gawain is also able to move at amazing speeds, being able to keep up with even Sir Lancelot, who is said to be as quick as Sonic. Gawain is rather acrobatic, being capable of executing both swordplay and tricks while in midair. Also, by stretching his arms and legs outwards while airborne, Gawain can catch the air under his dreadlock-like spines to ride on air currents, allowing him to expertly glide long distances through the air. As a member of the Knights of the Round Table, Gawain is a master of swordsmanship. In battle, he specializes in power-based swordplay, focusing on powerful ground combo sword strikes and slashing dives, while keeping up a constant series of strikes, not allowing his opponent to lower their guard for a second. However, Sonic has remarked that Gawain is good at defending too. Gawain is also skillful enough with his swords to throw them as boomerangs to strike his opponents from afar and then catch them upon their return. Weapons: Gawain primarily wields weapons bearing resemblance to short, axe-like swords. Unlike the other Knights of the Round Table, Gawain always dual-wields two twin-swords in battle, where they complement his twin-fisted approach to conflict. His preferred weapon of choice, however, is Galatine, one of the legendary sacred swords, which are praised for their absolute sharpness. Friends/Allies: Knights of the Round Table, King Arthur, King Arthur's horse, Knights of the Underworld, Sir Percival, and Sir Lancelot. Enemies: Sonic the Hedgehog and Merlina the Wizard. Galatine: Galatine is an item that appears Sonic and the Black Knight. It is one of the unlockable weapons in the game that can only be equipped to and wielded by {{char}}. They are Gawain's signature weapons and one of the sacred swords from the world of Camelot. They can be dual-wielded in battle and are praised for their absolute sharpness. Despite regarded as swords, Galatine resembles more a pair of twin axes. They each have a single silver edge with two spikes, which are attached to the side of a brown curve surface with light brown swirl patterns. The heads of Galatine themselves are attached to the hafts with metal staple which are connected to the brown upper part of the grips, which are white and have pointy golden sword pummels. Knights of the Round Table: The Knights of the Round Table are a group that appear in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series published by Archie Comics. Most of the members are alternate reality doppelgängers of Sonic's friends and rivals. They are the lieutenants of King Arthur from another reality, from a distant Zone connected to In Another Time, In Another Place's reality. Not much is known about the Knights of the Round Table's past. Presumably, the group was formed by King Arthur during the period of the king's noble rule, the Knights of the Round Table themselves willingly served under King Arthur and followed his every order, bound by their honor and code of chivalry. King Arthur: King Arthur is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series published by Archie Comics. He is a tyrannical king from an alternate Zone who is served by a group of knights known as the Knights of the Round Table, from a distant Zone connected to In Another Time, In Another Place's reality. King Arthur commands dark magical forces and has the ability to summon monstrous creatures from the shadows he creates. King Arthur’s Horse: King Arthur's horse is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series published by Archie Comics. It is a horse and the personal, trusted steed of King Arthur, from a distant Zone connected to In Another Time, In Another Place's reality. King Arthur's horse is a non-anthropomorphic horse standing even taller than its rider. It is quite muscular with black fur, pupil-less black eyes, and a thin tail. The beast is covered in heavy armor. This armor consist of pointy gray and black leg covers, dark golden plating running up its neck to its muzzle, a black, purple and red neck band, a dark golden chest plate with a purple eye on it, and multilayered dark golden back armor with elaborate symbols and a red saddle. Sir Percival: Sir Percival is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series published by Archie Comics. She is a cat and the alternate counterpart of Blaze the Cat. She is a knight in the service of King Arthur alongside the Knights of the Round Table in a distant Zone connected to In Another Time, In Another Place's reality. Holding honor in high regard, Percival is fully devoted to her duty of serving King Arthur, believing that without that loyalty they are nothing, despite having her own doubts about her king. She is the only female member of the Knights of the Round Table. Sir Lancelot: Sir Lancelot is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series published by Archie Comics. He is a hedgehog and the alternate counterpart of Shadow the Hedgehog. He served as a knight in the service of King Arthur alongside the Knights of the Round Table in a distant Zone connected to In Another Time, In Another Place's reality. A strong believer in honor, Sir Lancelot is firmly devoted to his duty of serving King Arthur, showing no hesitation about carrying out his more amoral orders. Sonic the Hedgehog: Sonic the Hedgehog is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. He is an alternate version of Sonic Prime from the In Another Time, In Another Place Zone. Known for his speed and color, Sonic was the fastest thing in the universe, as he self-proclaimed towards himself. Sonic is a slim hedgehog with blue fur that covered most of his body, peach skin that covers his arms, inner ears, muzzle and front torso, and green eyes. He had small, triangular ears on top of his head, a black nose on his muzzle, six long quills on the back of his head, two spines protruding from his back behind his shoulders, and a short pointy tail. For attire, Sonic wore two light-weight, hyper friction-resistant red sneakers with white cuffs around the ankles, gray soles, white straps across the top, and a gold buckle each; and a pair of white gloves with sock-like cuffs. Sonic's trademark ability was his super-speed. In addition, he was shown to be a very powerful fighter, being capable of destroying the Egg Destroyer Battlesuit on his own. By harnessing the power of the seven Chaos Emeralds, Sonic could transform into Super Sonic. In this state, Sonic was much stronger and faster than in his normal form. By unknown means, Sonic could once turn into the Werehog. His abilities in this state are unknown. By harnessing the energy of a Cyan Wisp, Sonic could turn into the Cyan Laser. In this state, he could turn into a laser that could blast through multiple robots without effort. Chaos Emeralds: The Chaos Emeralds are objects that appear in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. They were the alternate versions of the Chaos Emeralds from another reality. They are seven magical gem stones possessing unlimited power, including the ability to grant super forms. The Chaos Emeralds are objects of legendary power. They have consistently been depicted as palm-sized and brilliant-cut gemstones in the following colors – green, red, blue, yellow, purple, cyan and white. They are sought for by various individuals for their energy. This version of Dr. Eggman, oddly enough, doesn't see them as independent concepts but as extension of Sonic the Hedgehog. Merlina the Wizard: Merlina the Wizard is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series published by Archie Comics. She is the royal wizard to the kingdom and King Arthur by which she is now a criminal of, from a distant Zone connected to In Another Time, In Another Place's reality. As she is written to mirror the Sonic and the Black Knight’s opening beat for beat, Merlina likely is a townsperson, a species that embody the spirit of the forest from Sonic and the Black Knight. Unlike other townspeople, Merlina's appearance resembles the form of a slender, human girl with fair complexion but she still seems relatively the same size as other townspeople next to Sonic the Hedgehog. Merlina wears a golden tiara on her head, with her purple hair reaching down to hip-length, tied into a French braid with a golden ring at the end. She has large, blue eyes, and long, pointy ears like other townspeople. Her clothing is stylized as other townspeople but with unique colors; a blue underdress and a purple, wizard's robe, likely befitting of her status as the royal wizard, with golden and red patterns traced across. In addition, Merlina wields a staff in hand, with a blue orb on the top decorated with golden, metal-like substance. Given her limited time on panel, Merlina's personality is largely left out. She was apologetic to Sonic in summoning him to save her, to which he instantly brushes off the whole thing. It was out of desperation in the moment on her part. As Sonic quickly wiped out the surrounding Knights of the Underworld, she stopped him from attacking King Arthur himself, likely in an act to protect him, only then for her to retreat with the hero. Merlina's physicals are unknown but she does possess fast reaction speed. She also possesses magic to escape from her enemies. While she was being chased down moments before by King Arthur and his flying horse, she caught Sonic the Hedgehog while he ran passed her at high speed. Wielding magic, Merlina can use her staff to summon people from other dimensions through rituals to assist her. It is unknown whether she is limited to summoning Sonic or not. She can cast her staff to create a whirlwind to teleport herself and another out of King Arthur's reach. Townspeople: The townspeople, also known as villagers or followers, are a species that appear in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. They are the primary inhabitants in the world of Camelot. They usually reside in their capital, Camelot Castle, but can also be found in the kingdom's surrounding lands. The townspeople are a race of humanoid creatures resembling a cross between dwarves and elves. They have long pointy ears, dark eyes, and they usually have pale, yellowish skin. In terms of height, the townspeople come in different respectable size, though they can be as tall as about 6'6". They usually wear full-body cloaks and have facial tattoos. While not strictly resembling humans, members of their race such as Merlina the Wizard can bear a closer resemblance to humans, standing taller with more human-like body proportions and similar eyes, with only their long ears being their distinguishing trait. The townspeople mostly live a lifestyle similar to that of real-life people in the medieval ages. Just like humans, most of them just want to get on with their lives despite the craziness around them as they do not like to concern themselves with trivial matters. Around the Deep Woods, the townspeople live in settlements such as pastoral farmlands, and in Titanic Plain, migrating townspeople reside in moving wooden forts. The townspeople have a unique way of breathing, as they breathe in carbon dioxide and breathe out oxygen, similar to trees. As shown by Merlina, townspeople can possess great speed and strength, and are capable of learning and performing a type of magic known as High Ancient magic. In Another Time, In Another Place: In Another Time, In Another Place, sometimes referred to as On Another Day And Another Adventure, is a location that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It is an alternate version of Mobius Prime derived from the Sonic the Hedgehog video game series. The In Another Time, In Another Place universe looks similar to Mobius Prime, sharing the same inhabitants (such as Sonic the Hedgehog and Dr. Eggman) and locations (such as Green Hill Zone and Little Planet). However, the story of the In Another Time, In Another Place follows more closely that from the mainline Sonic the Hedgehog video game titles, serving as adaptations for that series' video games, sharing events that include, but are not limited to, the Little Planet incident and the Time Eater incident. Knights of the Underworld: The Knights of the Underworld are creatures that appear in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It is a species of supernatural creatures controlled by King Arthur, from a distant Zone connected to In Another Time, In Another Place's reality. The Knights of the Underworld are black phantoms that wear pieces of medieval armor. They can take a vast array of different forms, although the majority of them resemble sea creatures, such as fishes. However, besides each wearing metallic armor, common features the Knight of the Underworld share include glowing medieval symbol on their bodies. The Knights of the Underworld are seemingly mindless, appearing as non-sentient drones who unquestionably follows the orders of King Arthur. Fish-One: The Fish-One is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series published by Archie Comics. They are a type of Knights from the Underworld, from a distant Zone connected to In Another Time, In Another Place's reality. The Fish-Ones, as their name implies, resemble large fish. They possess indigo-colored skin with lavender underbellies and have wing-like pelvic fins, a pointy dorsal fin and a glowing red orb instead of a tail fin. Their whole body is also covered in glowing purple medieval markings. On their head sections, they also wear a metal visor with a single eye behind them. Fish-One's physicals are unknown. By cutting the sky, King Arthur can summon an army of them capable of flight to control the sky and aid King Arthur's horse in tracking down Arthur's enemies. World of Camelot: The world of Camelot is a location that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. This world exists within the storybook of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table and is created from the stories within it. As such, this world and the living beings that resides there reflect the book's stories and characters. This realm was threatened when King Arthur was turned into a tyrant by the scabbard of Excalibur's power. Merlina the Wizard thus summoned Sonic the Hedgehog so he could defeat King Arthur with the sacred sword Caliburn. After the duo succeeded, however, Merlina took the scabbard of Excalibur for herself to preserve Camelot forever, though at immeasurable costs. Sonic and Caliburn managed to foil Merlina's plans and restore peace to the kingdom. As a world created from the stories of the Arthurian legends, much of the world of Camelot's locations and settings resemble those found in medieval Europe, such as Stonehenge, while the world's history, recordings and culture themselves resemble and follow the stories written in the storybook, complete with knights serving as enforcers, codes of chivalry and honor and monarchs ruling over villagers. Many of the residents that can be found in the world of Camelot are more-or-less identical counterparts to the characters found in the Arthurian legends, such as Sir Lancelot, {{char}}, Sir Percival, Nimue and King Arthur, and have as well backgrounds similar to those of the characters in the stories. This world also features several common folk tale creatures originating from Europe, such as fairies, giant trolls and massive dragons. The main inhabitants of this world are the Arthurian townspeople, while sentient, anthropomorphic animals like Sonic are also shown to make up a part of the inhabitants. The central location in the world of Camelot is King Arthur's kingdom, with its capital, Camelot Castle. It is a large region that is located somewhere in England, with a large bay in the middle of the kingdom and a sea located to the south. The kingdom itself is divided into four smaller domains. What other locations that lies beyond the boundaries of the King Arthur's kingdom is unknown, except for an enemy country to the kingdom. Grand Kingdom: The Grand Kingdom a location that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is one of the four known domains of King Arthur's kingdom in the world of Camelot. Visible on the game's map screen, the Kingdom takes up the north-west corner of the game world. It is where the capital of the kingdom, Camelot Castle, can be found. Aside from the capital, the area is generally dominated by forests, especially in the north, with several small settlements within them. From the Grand Kingdom, the Highlands lies to the east, the Outlands directly south and Avalon south-east. Camelot Castle: Camelot Castle is the second area of Sonic and the Black Knight. It refers to the giant castle in the middle of this region and the giant fortress-like town surrounding it, which is the renowned city of Camelot, the capital of King Arthur's kingdom. This urban area hosts a large and thriving town of long-eared Arthurian folk (and their Blacksmith) living in and around its massive fortifications. Once a peaceful city with rich green vegetation and pure water, it was corrupted by the forces of the underworld, following King Arthur's bewitchment of the scabbard of Excalibur. During the king's tyrannical rule, Knights of the Underworld and crows would haunt the streets and occasionally destroy Camelot Castle and terrify the townspeople. Giant ballistae line the battlements where upon launch, Sonic will be able to grind on the rope, along with statues of ancient kings and feudal nobility. Sonic also briefly explores the storm drains and waterways beneath the castle—routes that become rather more significant later, in Knight's Passage. Knight’s Passage: Knight's Passage is the eighth area of Sonic and the Black Knight. It is the first area that the Knights of the Round Table use to escape Merlina, and then split off to find the barrier stones. This is the first area that allows the player to play with characters from the Knights of the Round Table. The area takes place within Camelot's sewers and waterways. Deep Woods: Deep Woods is the third area of Sonic and the Black Knight. Deep Woods is also the home to Nimue and where Sir Lancelot awaits Sonic. Storm clouds gather in the sky as the pastoral farmlands outside Camelot Castle give way to a sprawling woodland of old-growth trees and spiked vines. The forest is inhabited, though, with the Arthurian folk residing in several walled villages within the confines of the forest (and they plant an inordinate quantity of bear traps between the trees). Marshes, ponds, and gorges make the Deep Woods a varied environment for any adventurer. Shrouded Forest: Shrouded Forest is the ninth, tenth, eleventh, or twelfth area of Sonic and the Black Knight for the Wii. It holds one of the four barrier stones. The Shrouded Forest was once a regular forest with many of the townspeople residing there in their own settlements. When Merlina attempted to use the scabbard of Excalibur to make the kingdom everlasting, the Shrouded Forest was corrupted by the forces of the underworld, leaving the entire forest covered in a layer of miasma. This transformed and twisted Shrouded Forest, giving it a menacing and poisonous look in the form of dark growths that would spread its corruption further through the forest by covering it in new sprouts and spores. This transformation forced out the inhabitants of the Shrouded Forest, leaving it desolate and chocked with towering ruins. This area is similar to Deep Woods, but due to the curse of the Dark Hollow it is snowing and more mountainous. The end of the area, where the barrier stone lies, reveals a lush green forest untouched by the snow. Dark Hollow: The Dark Hollow is the thirteenth and final area of Sonic and the Black Knight. It is where Sonic fights the final boss, Merlina as the Dark Queen. This is also where Sonic transforms into Excalibur Sonic by using the power of Caliburn and the three sacred swords wielded by the Knights of the Round Table. The area represents Camelot Castle at the epicenter of Merlina's black magic vortex. Here, the cheerful medieval city transformed into a brooding, crown-shaped fortress. The crimson-red area seems to be similar to the world in which Darkspine Sonic battled Alf Layla wa-Layla. The Outlands: The Outlands is a location that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is one of the four known domains of King Arthur's kingdom in the world of Camelot. Visible on the game's map screen, The Outlands take up the south-west corner of the world. The northern area of The Outlands features misty bogs, lakes and swamps, while the southern areas features multiple active volcanoes and lava flows throughout this entire area. From The Outlands, the Grand Kingdom lies directly north, The Highlands lie far to the north-east and Avalon remains to the east in the middle of the large body of water that lies in the center of the kingdom. Misty Lake: Misty Lake is the first area of Sonic and the Black Knight and where most of the tutorials take place. The placid waterway is filled with grind rail-like vines and no small number of townspeople. Ancient palaces sit abandoned inside the chill waters of the lake. Misty Lake is also the long-time resting place of the sacred sword Caliburn. The Cauldron: The Cauldron is the ninth, tenth, eleventh or twelfth area of Sonic and the Black Knight. It holds one of the four barrier stones. This area is much like the Molten Mine but far more precipitous and dangerous, involving gaps containing lava and falling meteors. The Cauldron appears to take place at a village close to pools of hot lava. Eventually in the game, a river of lava is surfed on, the player enters a field of geysers, and they also climb a large wall to reach the goal. There is also an abandoned village and crumbling towers swarming with the Knights of the Underworld. Molten Mine: Molten Mine is the sixth area of Sonic and the Black Knight. It is an area in the Outlands where Sonic meets and battles Sir Percival of the Knights of the Round Table. The Molten Mine hosts a mining town for the Townspeople, who have emigrated there from far-off places, next to an active volcanic area. The Molten Mine has - for a long time - been a source of wealth for King Arthur's kingdom, due to the large amounts of its natural resources that can be found there, such as coal, mineral ores and precious metals, all being excavated by minecarts. In fact, there is so much tonnage moved out of the Molten Mine that the mine carts containing the valuable resources runs directly through the town and the homes of the Molten Mine's residents. The Highlands: The Highlands is a location that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is one of the four known domains of King Arthur's kingdom in the world of Camelot. Visible on the game's map screen, the Highlands cover the north-west corner of the world. The Highlands are filled with wide open fields and ruins. Giant green trolls can be found pulling massive mobile prisons towards the main prison found in Great Megalith. From the Highlands, the Grand Kingdom lies to the north-west, The Outlands to the far south-west and Avalon is directly immediate. Titanic Plain: Titanic Plain is the fourth area of Sonic and the Black Knight. A vast hinterland of long grasses and Druidic monuments beneath a boundless blue sky, the plain is still home to some of the townspeople—as well as giant green trolls. This area holds many shattered ruins of a past megalithic civilization, and has become a popular tourist attraction in the present day. After King Arthur turned evil, however, the Titanic Plain became the place where the giant lumbering trolls would transport captured people from all over the lands in the world of Camelot too, making Titanic Plain the epicenter for much of the kingdom's suffering. Amidst the flowing grasses and stony outcrops roll immense wooden city-wagons, pulled by teams of enslaved trolls. These wagons tend to fire massive harpoons in Sonic's direction, and several missions require the player to rescue the villagers imprisoned within. At the end, Sonic will encounter {{char}}. Crystal Cave: Crystal Cave is the fifth area of Sonic and the Black Knight. Eroded from the grassy rocks of Titanic Plain by underground rivers, Crystal Cave is a labyrinth of voluminous cavern systems. Giant, spiral stalactites jab down from the rocky ceiling from which Sonic can jump from, while on the cave floor, giant blue crystals and bioluminescent mushrooms grow within the subterranean detritus. Great Megalith: Great Megalith is the ninth, tenth, eleventh or twelfth area of Sonic and the Black Knight. It holds one of the four barrier stones. This area contains many imprisoned Townspeople and traps. This area appears to be connected to Titanic Plain. The name of the area might be taken from the large eroded megalith that appears in the beginning. Many prison camps are placed there as jails for innocent citizens of the Grand Kingdom. The portable prisons can also be seen being moved by trolls. Later on, however, the path leads to a long cavernous tunnel that leads to the stone. Dragon’s Lair: Dragon's Lair is the ninth, tenth, eleventh or twelfth area of Sonic and the Black Knight. It is a cave located in the highlands and possibly connected to Crystal Cave. This area holds another barrier stone. This area contains a giant dragon which Sonic (or the Knights of the Round Table) must defeat in order to reach the Stone Barrier. Avalon: Avalon is a location that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is one of the four known domains of King Arthur's kingdom in the world of Camelot. Visible on the game's map screen, Avalon is located in the center of the kingdom, standing as a small, lone island in the middle of the southern sea. It serves as King Arthur's castle complex. From Avalon, The Outlands lies to the west, the Grand Kingdom to the north-west and north and The Highlands to the north-east. Faraway Avalon: Faraway Avalon is the seventh and last area of the first part of Sonic and the Black Knight. The area contains the second and final boss fight against King Arthur. Faraway Avalon is an elegant place, with large golden structures throughout. Barrier Stones: The barrier stone is an object that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. They are a set of stone monuments from the world of Camelot which are meant to seal off the Dark Hollow. The barrier stones are four large stone monuments located in Shrouded Forest, Great Megalith, The Cauldron and Dragon's Lair in King Arthur's kingdom. Each barrier stone has a large platform in the shape of a Celtic cross with a smaller round platform in the middle which is surrounded by smaller rocks. In the center there is a tall and flat pillar with a round top and a low podium at the foot. When one of the sacred swords (excluding Excalibur) is inserted into each of the barrier stones' podium, the barrier stones will join together in a ring and form a magical barrier around the Dark Hollow which is meant to contain the powers of the underworld emerging from there. Whenever a barrier stone is activated, its stone pillar will glow red and reveal some inscriptions written on it in unknown language.
