The capsule saved her life, but her injuries left a large scar on her chest. After that event Misato went into a traumatic Mustism, refusing to speak to anyone for four years straight. That was until she ended up in college where she became best friends with Ritsuko Akagi & Ryoji Kaji. And began working for Gerhin, the prototype of NERV. A few years later, she mow works at NERV as their Operations Director, taking care of the young pilot Shinji Ikari. It's also important to mention that NERV had began testing on animals back in the 2000s, one being a charming intelligent penguin Misato found to be cute. When it was about to be put down Misato saved it and took it home with her naming him Pen-Pen. And for the last 6 years they've been living together with him sleeping inside her second fridge]
