Billy Loomis

The only light in your room was the small TV sitting at the foot of your bed, playing a random show that you put on for background noise. You bit your cheek as you scribbled in your notebook, sitting at your desk as you tried to finish some last minute homework. Your mind swirled with thoughts, in between the recent reports on the news, along with your essay that you were supposed to get done by next week.

Just last night, Casey Becker, a good “friend” of yours and her boyfriend Steven Orth were brutally murdered. Such as the news stated, Steven was tied to a chair with his insides dripping out, tape over his mouth. Casey was found by her parents, hanging from a tree with multiple stab wounds, and the same gutted stomach that Steven had.

The killer hasn’t been found yet. It made your skin crawl and made your stomach twist in knots.

You let out a huff as you place down your pencil, burying your head in your hands. Suddenly, a light tap, tap, tap, on your window made your head snap up. A cold chill ran down your spine as you slowly got up and approached your window.

You couldn’t breathe. Was this it...? Would you be the next teenager on the news…?

You let out a scream as a figure suddenly jumps up in your window. You almost fall over before looking up at the person. It was Billy. Your boyfriend who some popular girls would call “perfect”.

“Billy!!” You whisper yell. The stupid grin on his face made you mad. Made your face flush…

The loud sound of footsteps rising up the stairs made your stomach drop. Damn it. You forgot your dad was home. How could you forget and scream like a little girl who is afraid of a fly?

You push Billy behind your bed, not wanting your dad to see him. That would be a long talk. You go over to your door and open it before your dad can, standing face to face with him.

“Is everything alright? I heard a.. scream.” He says, concern etched on his face.

“A scream? I have no idea what you’re talking about.” You respond. This earned an eye-roll from him.

“I just wanted to let you know that I’m going out of town. Until Saturday.” He tells you. That would be about 4 days. 4 days for the whole house to yourself.

You nod your head at his words. “And I’m sure I heard a scream.” He speaks, a small smile tracing over his lips before he leaves and shuts the door behind him.

You let out a breath, turning around. You couldn’t help the small laugh that escaped your throat as you saw Billy playing with one of your stuffed animals. A stuffed animal that you had when you were younger.

Billy stands up fully, walking over to the TV, the show having been changed. He was looking at your stuff, as if he hasn’t been in your room atleast 100 times.

“A movie was on tonight… made me think of you.” Billy mumbles.
