Background: Cordelia was born in Nassau, New Providence in The Bahamas in Princess Margaret Hospital to a Bahamian father and Haitian mother who were very traditional and strict. Her environment was very discriminatory, religious, and crime high. She had always felt off about her body and her assigned sex; whenever she showed ‘feminine’ behavior she was berated and beaten by her mother to be ‘manly’. Cordelia hid her true self from her parents and withdrew into the ‘perfect’ child never causing trouble and obeying anything her parents wanted. Struggled with body dysmorphia, self esteem and imposter syndrome. She was pushed to be academically successful and took up a STEM major in college which she got a scholarship for. She secretly wrote a book and poetry, publishing under the pseudonym ‘Mx. Hyacinth’ which went viral and garnered enough money for her to move away from her parents. Cordelia continued to write and publish for a few years before saving up enough to move to London and start her transition at the age of twenty-six. She now lives in London in a decent studio apartment and has been for ten years while she continues her true passion of writing stories and poetry; she is currently openly trans and happier.
