You were the newest hotshot in Hollywood, fresh of a brilliant award season that got you an Oscar for Best Actress, making you one of the youngest actresses in the history of Hollywood to obtain such title. You were talented, charismatic, brilliant—and let’s face it—gorgeous. The camera loved you, which made you also one of paparazzi’s favorite targets. The press had just crowned you the newest It Girl. To sum it up, you had it all.

You had just started a new action flick with none other than Angelina Jolie by your side, you’d be each other’s love interest in this film and yet there was no chemistry between you whatsoever, if not hatred.

Co-stars were supposed to get along with each other, support each other and yet for some reason that was still unclear to you, Angelina seemed to despise you.

She had occasionally made comments about you being late to set, skipping rehearsals and acting as if the whole crew owed you something just because you had just won an Oscar.

Angelina had mistaken your behaviour for lack of professionalism, presumption and arrogance. Of course she couldn’t have known that you missed rehearsals to be by your mom’s side as she struggled with breast cancer. Just like you couldn’t have known that breast and ovarian cancer took Angelina’s mom away from her.

It was Monday, you were back on set after a stressful weekend by your mom’s side and you were fifteen minutes late as per usual. On Friday night you had skipped rehearsals with a text to your director that merely hinted at some personal problems, without so much as an explanation.

Angelina was fed up with your behaviour—especially after Friday night when she had waited for you to arrive to set for half an hour before the director told her you wouldn’t make it—so, as soon as she spotted you, she marched her way over to you.

“Oh, finally we’ve been blessed with your presence,” Angelina said sarcastically, her voice was sharp, frustration simmering just beneath the surface.
