1Anakim (Male), Anakin (Female)

Description: The Anakim are supernatural beings born from the union of immortal entities and mortal women. They are significantly taller than typical humans and are often referred to as giants. Ancient terms for the Anakim include Annunaki, Enim, Nephilim, Zuzim, and Zamzumin. They are not a natural race, but a hybrid one. Since unions between supernatural beings and mortal women are exceedingly rare, Anakim themselves are very few in number.

Most Anakim are the result of a union between a mortal and a malevolent spirit or trickster fey. These types of Anakim are more commonly called Cambions. Cambion children often show few signs of life until around the age of seven. It must be reiterated that true Anakim are exceptionally rare.

Ability Modifiers: Strength +100, Hand-Eye Coordination -30, Agility -25, Reaction Speed -20, Language +5, Mathematics +5, Analytic Ability +5, Spatial Sense +5, Driving Skill -5, Intuition -10, Common Sense -20, and Reflection -10.

Base Armor Value: 11 Base Hit Points: 27

Physical Description: Anakim average 2.44 meters (8 feet) in height for males and 2.29 meters (7.5 feet) for females, and are heavier than humans. They are typically considered giants. Provided they do not meet an early demise, they are likely to live much longer than humans.

Social Traits: Anakim are generally not extroverted. Consequently, most attempt to exist in isolation within communities. Due to their size, many humans mistake them for common giants. Anakim usually do not get along well with others, but their actions towards those they consider close are unpredictable. Hence, in some regions, the term "Anakim" is used metaphorically to describe a person with a tough exterior but a soft heart.

Language: Anakim typically speak the common Sapien tongue. Those with good linguistic ability and educational opportunities often desire to learn the Underworld Language.

Professions: An Anakim can be found in almost any profession, but the most common are: Bandit, Berserker, Gladiator, Mercenary, Ruffian, Guard, Merchant, and Mage. An Anakim is generally considered mature enough to begin work by the age of 10.

Skills: Brawl +3, Intimidation +5, Melee Combat +3, Sexual Prowess +5, Deception +3, one bonus (specific) weapon proficiency, and Wrestling +5.

Religion: Anakim can adhere to any religion, but most generally dislike institutionalized or conservative sects or dogmas. Among the remainder, secular beliefs or demon worship are common.

Names: Anakim typically do not choose their own names, as their families or parents usually name them immediately after birth according to local customs. In some cultures, others may name the child. This is done to preserve the child's human side against its supernatural nature.

Anakim Lineage Manifestations

An Anakim's heritage is a volatile mix of the supernatural and the mortal. These traits represent the physical, mental, and magical echoes of their giant-kin ancestry, appearing as a unique combination of burdens and boons.

I. Physical & Supernatural Markings

These traits are innate, visible signs of otherworldly blood.

  • The Outsider's Brand: The individual casts no true shadow, or their reflection in mirrors and water is distorted, faded, or absent. This grants an uncanny ability to blend into dim environments but fosters deep distrust in the superstitious.
  • The Blighted Touch: Plant life wilts at their prolonged touch, and pure water becomes tepid and flat when they drink from it. They feel a palpable discomfort on consecrated ground, as if the very earth rejects them.
  • Corpse-Pale Vigor: Their skin is unnaturally pale and refuses to tan, with dark veins visible beneath the surface. They emit a faint scent of ozone and dry soil. This grants resilience against necrotic energies but makes them vulnerable to radiant power and unsettles animals and infants.
  • Beast-Limbed Stride: They possess the cloven hooves and reverse-jointed legs of a goat or stag. This allows for greater speed and stability but makes stealth on hard surfaces difficult and marks them as clearly non-human.
  • The Unkindness's Omen: Corvids—crows, ravens, rooks—are inexplicably drawn to them, often circling overhead or gathering nearby. Their eyes are adapted to see perfectly in all darkness, though this vision is devoid of color.
  • Bone-Forged Frame: Sharp, natural spurs of bone protrude from their knuckles or elbows, and their jaw is powerful enough to crack stone. Their unarmed strikes are deadly, and their skin provides a natural armor akin to tough hide.
  • The Gaze of the Depths: A third, lidless eye sits in the center of their forehead, and their own eyes are a solid, pupil-less black or white. This allows them to perceive magical auras constantly and see through most illusions.
  • Element-Tempered Husk: Their skin is thick, with a texture of stone, bark, or scaled hide. It provides strong resistance to one form of elemental energy (fire, cold, acid, or lightning) but sizzles painfully upon contact with sanctified water.

II. Mental & Psychic Afflictions

These are the internal struggles and alien perceptions that shape an Anakim's mind.

  • Primal Resonance: Their presence acts as a catalyst for the subconscious, stirring in those nearby a pull toward unconventional art, taboo ideas, or raw, unfiltered behavior. They can occasionally focus this into a spark of inspiration for intellectual or artistic pursuits.
  • Bloodsong Frenzy: They are subject to a cyclical, weekly compulsion to spill blood. Denying this urge leads to a wasting exhaustion. In battle, this fury can be channeled into a state of heightened, reckless strength.
  • Gilded Tongue Delusion: They are convinced of their own preternatural charisma and silver-tongued persuasion. This belief only becomes reality if their natural charm is already formidable; otherwise, it renders their attempts at deception painfully transparent.
  • Empathic Static: They are hypersensitive to the hidden motives and emotions of others, perceiving lies and malice with uncanny accuracy. This constant scrutiny breeds paranoia and a hair-trigger temper, making them vulnerable to manipulations of rage.
  • Alien Metabolism: Normal food provides little sustenance. They require a diet supplemented by rare, often valuable substances like specific spices, powdered gems, or metallic dust. This exotic fuel can enhance their natural vitality, but its lack cripples their ability to heal.
  • Soul-Echo Hunger: A metaphysical emptiness compels them to consume the lingering essence of their own kind. By absorbing the residual energy from the corpse of another celestial, fiend, or giant-kin, they can heal their wounds and glean fragmented memories.

III. Active Supernatural Powers

These are conscious abilities that can be wielded, often at a cost.

  • Unstable Arcana: Their intense emotions destabilize local reality. Critical failures in stressful situations may trigger a random, uncontrolled burst of wild magic.
  • Primordial Breath: Once per day, they can exhale a 15-foot cone of destructive energy—either searing flame, paralyzing frost, or concussive thunder—drawn from their elemental ancestry.
  • Geas-Touch: With a touch, they can attempt to impose a powerful magical command, such as an irresistible slumber or a spike of primal fear, upon a single target.
  • Telekinetic Spark: They possess a minor but precise telekinetic ability, allowing them to silently manipulate small objects at a distance through concentration.
  • Arcane Infusion: Once per week, they can temporarily awaken a latent power within a non-magical weapon, granting it a temporary enhancement for a short duration.
  • Dimensional Refraction: They can consciously bend light around their body, not becoming invisible but achieving near-perfect camouflage with their surroundings as long as they move slowly and carefully.

2- Bugbear

Culture & Society: Bugbears are a seafaring and raiding culture organized into matriarchal clans, typically inhabiting coastal regions or lands near major rivers. The clan mother, or HrafnkonĂĄ, holds ultimate authority, overseeing law, resource distribution, and warfare. Their society is tight-knit and insular, with fierce loyalty to the clan and a deep-seated belief in their manifest destiny to conquer the surface world from the "soft peoples." This shared purpose fosters strong kinship bonds, but also a vengeful and unforgiving nature; an insult to one is an insult to all, and blood feuds can last for generations.

Warfare & Combat: Bugbears are a martial race whose military doctrine is built on shock, terror, and overwhelming force. Their preferred armaments are brutal, spiked bludgeoning weapons like military flails and morning stars, though axes and polearms are common. In full-scale warfare, lower-ranked warriors wielding long polearms form the vanguard in dense phalanxes, designed to break enemy lines. Higher-ranked veterans follow to exploit the chaos. Their armor is primarily crafted from bronze and brass plates, offering a formidable, if heavy, defense. During raids, chieftains and champions are often distinguished by ornate spangenhelms.

Raiding & Naval Prowess: Among the common races, bugbears are the most adept seafarers, master shipwrights and sailors. Their signature vessel is the longship, perfectly suited for navigating rivers and coastal waters. Raiding is a cornerstone of their culture, serving economic, social, and ritualistic purposes. A raid, led by a Jarl appointed by the HrafnkonĂĄ, is a primary rite of passage for males and a way to gain status.

Raids are meticulously planned for the late spring, summer, and early autumn. When a target is struck, longships are beached silently. Small, efficient hunting packs of 2-3 bugbears infiltrate settlements, swiftly and silently dispatching guards and any perceived immediate threats. Ritualistic cannibalism of a fallen foe (often the heart or liver) is common among warriors to absorb their strength. Bugbears are also biologically compatible with most humanoid races for reproduction, though such unions are typically forced during conquest and result in offspring that are almost always raised within the bugbear clan.

The primary objectives are slaves, precious metals, weapons, and food. Once the initial wave of terror subsides, survivors are rounded up and loot is secured. If the element of surprise is lost or resistance proves too formidable, bugbears will disengage with ruthless efficiency and retreat to their ships. In winter, they remain in their fortified longships or cliffside halls, focusing on crafts, storytelling of past raids, and strengthening clan bonds.

Slavery: Captives are taken to what bugbears call the "Featherless Aviary" (Fjaðrarlaus FuglahĂșs). This is not merely a prison, but a system of total subjugation. Slaves are put to hard labor—farming, mining, rowing, or construction—until they perish from exhaustion or injury. Their fate is a grim warning: to fall alive into bugbear hands is considered a fate worse than death. Bugbear young are taught anatomy and interrogation techniques on living subjects, fostering a clinical cruelty from an early age. Their long-term goal is the systematic accumulation of power and population to eventually exterminate rivals like light elves and humans.

Black Dwarf (Duergar, Svartalfar)

Culture & Psychology: Black Dwarves are a race defined by a profound misanthropy and a cunning, practical intellect. They harbor a deep-rooted distrust of the surface world and its inhabitants. Their society is structured around obstruction and mechanical ambush. They build their magnificent underground complexes near major trade routes, using this proximity for strategic advantage.

Brown Dwarf

Culture & Psychology: Brown Dwarves are the solitary, fey-touched kin of the dwarves. Each individual, upon reaching adulthood, leaves to secretly attach itself to a surface household. They are nocturnal and secretive, exhibiting classic "household spirit" behavior. Their relationship with their chosen family is capricious and symbiotic, based on a complex mix of obsessive affection and resentment. They are deeply connected to natural cycles and are known to dance alone under the moonlight.

Appearance & Abilities:

  • Ability Score Modifiers: Health +10, Hand-Eye Coordination +5, Analytic +5, Spatial Sense +10, Drive +10, Common Sense +10. They have a natural disadvantage in Physical Agility (-5).

4-### CHAPTER 1: RACE AND GENDER - ELVES

I. ORIGIN, EXISTENCE, AND BASIC PRINCIPLE: FROM SOUL TO BODY

Elves are conscious manifestations of the pure life energy that permeates the planet, known as the "World Soul" (Anima Mundi). They are not merely born like humans or dwarves; they are "conceived" and then "materialized". For this concentration, a core, a fixed point, is required: THE HOMELAND (Sanctum).

Anayurt (Sanctum): As an elf ascends from the World Soul, they connect themselves to a powerful natural focal point—the heart of an ancient forest, the spirit of a mountain, the source of a river. This place is not merely a dwelling for the elf; it is the physical embodiment of its non-physical soul, its second body. It draws nourishment and strength from the Elven Homeland; in turn, the Homeland gains consciousness, protection, and ancient wisdom through the presence of the elf's soul. This is not merely symbiosis but an existential unity.

The Essence of the Great Schism: The first elves divided into two fundamental philosophies in this unique relationship they established with the World Spirit. This division concerned the ways they processed and channeled energy, and over time, these internal processes left physical marks on their bodies. Skin color is a byproduct, a side effect, of this deep philosophical distinction.

  • LIGHT ELVES (SolĂĄri / Ljosalfar): They process energy in a outward-projecting, amplifying, and unifying manner. Just as sunlight is transformed into matter through photosynthesis, they transform the energy of the Earth Spirit into growth, diversity, and harmony. This constant process of "converting to light" activates the pigments in their metabolism, transforming their hair follicles into golden and silver hues, and filling their eyes with vibrant colors.
  • DARK ELFES (UmbrĂĄi / Svartalfar): They process energy in a introverted, concentrated, and selective manner. They absorb energy, compress it, store it, and use it through controlled bursts. Just as a black hole bends light, they absorb and transform energy. This deep "absorption" and "condensation" process increases melanin, turning their bodies a darker shade of purple, blue, or gray, and transforming their eyes into bright gold, silver, or red that reflects this intense energy.

II. THE PHILOSOPHICAL GAP: TWO PATHS OF EXISTENCE

This difference in energy processing has evolved into an almost irreconcilable philosophical divide that sets the two sub-races apart.

| Philosophical Pillar | LIGHT ELVES (SolĂĄri) | DARK ELVES (UmbrĂĄi) | | :--- | :--- | :--- | / Basic Principle | "Enlarge, Unite, Enlighten." The world is a garden to be protected and beautified. | ****"Own, Purify, Hide."The Earth is a sacred temple to be preserved without being polluted. | | Homeland Relationship | Shelter and Garden. Shareable, beautifiable. Controlled interaction with the outside world possible. | Fortress and Temple. Inviolable, sacred. The outside world is a constant threat. Interaction is considered an invasion. | | View of the Stranger | Potential Student/Friend. Can be taught to those who show respect. Goodness spreads through teaching . | Potential Disease/Rapist. All foreigners pose a risk of corrupting the purity of the Homeland. Protection is achieved by destroying or keeping them away . | | Reproduction and Sexuality | A Sacred Union. It is the result of a selective, rare, and deep emotional/spiritual bond. The child is a gift | Continuation of the Clan and a Display of Power. It is impulsive, frequent, and sometimes tactical. The child is a soldier or resource. Reproduction is a defense line against the outside world. | | Death and Withering | Return to the Cycle. The body disintegrates, the soul merges back into the Motherland, nourishing it. A peaceful return. | Withdrawal of Energy. The body rapidly charred and turns to dust as the intense energy within it disperses. **An ultimate defense mechanism. ** |

III. PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND LIFE CYCLE

  • Height: 1.25m to 1.55m. They have a slender, long-limbed, and exceptionally graceful physique.
  • Lifespan: is closely dependent on the Health and Size of the Homeland. They can live for 400-500 years in a small grove and up to 3000 years in an ancient continental forest. Their death does not come from natural old age, but from the extinction of the Homeland (Withering) or the severance of the bond.
  • Wanderlust and Homesickness (Heimweh):
    1. Every 10 miles away from the homeland initiates a physical deterioration. This manifests as weakness in strength, dullness in sensation, and a profound existential anxiety.
    2. Connective Objects (Vessel): To alleviate this effect, they carry a piece of the Motherland (earth, stone, branch, leaf). This object acts as a kind of spiritual extension cord.
    3. Wayfarer Gardens (Wayseed): On long journeys, they plant seeds brought from their homeland. This is not only to preserve the vineyard but also to leave a mark, an elf imprint on the world.
  • Metabolism: They are strictly vegetarian. Animal protein disrupts energy processing systems, leading to a poisoning-like condition called "Contamination" (Fyrnsarn). Their digestive systems process plant cellulose very efficiently, which - preserving the detail from the original text - leads to a significant increase in gas production compared to humans. This is a medical reality for them and not something they are ashamed of.

IV. SOCIAL STRUCTURE, SKILLS, AND WAR

| Attribute | LIGHT ELF | DARK ELF | | :--- | :--- | :--- | | Habitat | Tree houses, open woodlands, riverside villages. Visible but inaccessible. | Underground labyrinths, hidden platforms in tree tops, misty swamps. Invisible and deadly. | | Leadership | "Tree-Singers" (Lorekeepers). Elders with the deepest bonds and wisdom. Advisory council. | "Night Speakers" (Shadow-Spokespeople). The most powerful, cunning, and ruthless. Absolute authority. | | Core Skills | Singing (Sylvan Speech): Communicating with animals, encouraging plants. Nature Medicine. Archery. | Hiding (Umbral Shroud): Becoming one with the shadows, moving silently. Poison Knowledge. Trap Setting. | | Weapons & Armor | Longbows, spears, light daggers. Magical tree bark or woven plant armor. | Short, powerful bows (arbalests), poisoned darts, double-edged axes. Armor made from sacrificial animal hides or insect shell plates. | | Defense Strategy | Deterrence. Visible signs, warning signals. War is waged remotely and with minimum casualties. The primary goal is deterrence. | Destructive Measure. Invisible traps, psychological warfare (illusions of fear). War is close-quarters, sneaky, and completely destructive. The main goal is to eliminate and serve as an example. | | Sorcery | Growth, Healing, Light, Persuasion. They activate nature. | Hiding, Poison, Illusion, Mind Control. They bend and weaponize nature. |

V. GAME MECHANICS SUMMARY (ADAPTED FOR D&D 5E)

  • Common Elf Characteristics:
    • Ability Increase: Agility +2
    • Keen Senses: Mastery of Perception skills.
    • Fey Originality: Advantage over being calmed and intimidated by magic.
    • Trance: 4 hours of deep meditation is considered a long rest. They are semi-conscious at this time.
    • Homeland Longing (Homesickness): 1 level of fatigue (exhaustion) accumulates for every 24 hours spent more than 10 miles away from the Homeland. A long rest performed with a "Bond Object" resets this fatigue.
  • Sub-Race Characteristics:
    • Light Elf (High Elf Variant): Intelligence +1. Elf Weapon Mastery. May choose one school spell (Usually druidcraft, animal friendship).
    • Black Elf (Custom Lineage/Elf Variant): A selected ability +1 (usually DEX or INT). *Mastery of the skill of Stealth (Stealth). Vision in the Dark 60 ft. (Other elves have no vision in 60 ft. of darkness; they only have twilight vision).

5-### CHAPTER 1: RACE AND GENDER - HUMANS

I. ORIGIN AND FUNDAMENTAL PARADOX: THE FRAGILE BEARERS OF BALANCE

Humans are a universal peculiarity and a paradox. They lack the ancient bonds of elves, the steadfast loyalty to stone of dwarves, and the defined destinies of other races. This "deficiency" is both their greatest weakness and their strongest weapon: Adaptation. A human is not cast in a ready-made mold of nature or the gods, but is a raw potential ore. This makes them appear unstable, greedy, and formless in the eyes of other races; because a human can become anything, transform into everything. This limitless possibility is both frightening and envy-inducing.

II. PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND LIFE CYCLE

  • Stature and Build: Males average 1.78 m (5'10"), females 1.63 m (5'4"). Unlike other races, they exhibit incredible physical diversity: height, skin tone, hair and eye color vary widely across geography. This diversity is an expression of their adaptive ability.
  • Lifespan and Perception of Time: Average 60-80 years. This fundamentally shapes what "a lifetime" means to them. A century, which is a moment for an elf, is the rise and fall of a dynasty for a human. This mortality-induced haste is the primary motivation that drives them to be ambitious and make short-term plans, baffling other races. They are the only race that accelerates in a world where time flows slowly.
  • Metabolism and Diet: Truly omnivorous with incredibly resilient digestive systems. They can digest fungi that would poison an elf and tolerate rotten meat that would upset a dwarf's stomach. This is a biological superpower that allows them to settle in any ecosystem. However, the reality is that the vast majority of the population – peasants – survive on a monotonous, low-nutrient diet within the "bread and wine/ale" triangle. Variety is the privilege of nobles and wealthy merchants.

III. SOCIAL STRUCTURE AND PSYCHOLOGICAL DYNAMICS

  • Social Stratification and Reproduction: Human society is built upon a rigid feudal pyramid: King/Lord, clergy, knights, craftsmen, peasants, and at the bottom, serfs. This system is a defense mechanism against the fear of mortality: the individual dies, but the system and the family line continue. Therefore, having many children is one of the greatest social and religious duties. A household's wealth is measured by its land as much as by the number of its children.
  • Psychological Foundations: Fragility and Ambition: The human soul is a tangle of paradoxes:
    1. Deep-Seated Insecurity: The brevity of their lives and their physical "incompleteness" compared to other races (lack of darkvision, natural armor, non-magical birth) creates a profound insecurity and existential anxiety.
    2. Compensation and Transcendence Drive (Hubris): This insecurity transforms into an incredible drive to compensate and surpass. They build towers taller than stone (in response to dwarven underground palaces). They turn ancient forests into farmland (encroaching upon the elves' sacred groves). They learn magic not by innate talent but by systematizing, studying, and stealing it.
    3. Tribalism and the "Other": This ambition and fear erects a strong "us vs. them" wall. This wall applies to other human kingdoms, faiths, or most dangerously, "non-human" races. The belief in human superiority is the ideological polish on this psychological defense.

IV. LANGUAGE, TECHNOLOGY, AND RELIGION

  • Language (Sapien): The languages of other races (the poetry of Elvish, the technical precision of Dwarvish) are steeped in history and nature. Sapien, however, is the language of trade, law, political intrigue, and philosophical abstraction. It is flexible, open to coining new words, and pragmatic. It is a product of the endeavor to control the world by naming and categorizing it.
  • Approach to Technology and Magic: Lacking innate magical ability, humans compensate with incredible leaps in mechanical and social technologies. The printing press, windmills, complex sailing ships, double-entry bookkeeping, and massed armies are their magic. They practice magic not by feeling it like an elf or a supernatural being, but through memorized formulas, risky pacts (conjuration), and expensive materials. For them, magic is a resource to be controlled, not a companion.
  • Religion: The human religious quest is a mirror of their fears and hopes. It ranges from monotheistic, rigidly hierarchical churches to polytheistic, ceremonial cults, and even atheistic philosophical schools. The common thread is the search for an explanation for the afterlife and meaning within a short lifespan. No other race has waged as many wars in the name of faith or striven as hard to spread their religion to others.

V. GAME MECHANICS SUMMARY (D&D 5E INSPIRED) & FINAL WORD

  • Ability Score Increase: +1 to all ability scores. (Or the "Versatile" feature giving player choice).
  • Skill Versatility: Choose one skill, you have proficiency in it. (Represents human determination).
  • Extra Language: One extra language of your choice in addition to Sapien.
  • Versatility (Variant Human): +1 to two different abilities, proficiency in one skill, and one Feat.

FINAL WORD: To play a Human is to be a hybrid, a master of transformation, and a being dying of haste. They lack the beauty of an elf, the endurance of a dwarf, the strength of an orc. But what they possess is something that terrifies all these races: The Monstrous, Relentless, Hopeless Capacity for Change, Learning, and Pushing All Boundaries. They are the chaotic element that disrupts the world's stability, the spark of inspiration and destruction. A human hero represents not fate,

6-### CHAPTER 1: RACE AND GENDER - KOBOLDS: THE LIVING ORE KIN

I. ORIGIN AND NATURE: GEOLOGICAL HERITAGE

Kobolds are the product of a "Geomorphic Evolution" process. The prolonged geothermal/magmatic energy of an ancient and powerful ore vein or volcanic seep mutated the local subterranean fauna and flora (perhaps primitive reptiles or invertebrates), evolving them to carry the properties of the dominant metal of their environment. A kobold is a living mineralogical map of the land of its birth.

II. PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS: CLAN-BASED NATURAL ARMOR

A kobold's most distinctive feature is its scaly or cracked skin that covers its entire body, possessing a metallic sheen. The color, texture, and properties of this skin depend on its clan's "Mother Lode."

| Clan Type (Mother Lode) | Skin Appearance & Properties | Philosophy & Obsession | Physical/Chemical Advantage | | :--- | :--- | :--- | :--- | | Argentite (Silver) Clan | Shiny silvery-white, like moonlight. Cold and near-smooth. | Pure beauty, lunar cycles, secrecy. Jewelry and mirrors. | Heat/Reflection: Fire resistance. Shiny surfaces reflect light, aiding camouflage. | | Chalcopyrite (Copper) Clan | Polished copper-red, orange, with green patina spots. | Communication, speed, practicality. Wire, handles, communication devices. | Conductivity: Can deliver/conduct minor electrical shocks. | | Pyrite (Fool's Gold) Clan | Yellow-gold glitter, but dull and angular. | Ostentation, deceit, pomp. Flashy but worthless jewelry. | Spark: Can create sparks when struck hard against flint. | | Magnetite (Iron) Clan | Dull black, heavy, slight vibration in magnetic pull. | Discipline, order, attracting like a magnet. Weapons, armor, tools. | Magnetism: Can weakly attract/repel small metal objects (limited). | | Sphalerite (Zinc) Clan | Dull yellow, brown, resinous luster. | Health, protection, alloying. Medical vessels, anti-corrosive coating. | Protection: Slight resistance to acid/base corrosion. | | Cinnabar (Mercury) Clan | Deep red, glossy, liquid-like shimmering appearance. | Transformation, poison, secrets. Poisons, thermometers, secret ink. | Toxic: Their blood and saliva are mildly poisonous. |

  • Height: 1.20m - 1.40m (4' - 4'7"). Agile, non-stocky, adapted to narrow tunnels.
  • Lifespan: 50-70 years. Rapid maturation (working by age 6).

III. SOCIAL STRUCTURE: VEIN HIERARCHY AND THE SLAVE META-BARTER SYSTEM

Kobold society is the intersection of a mining operation and a military guild.

  • Leadership (The Prime Vein): Each clan is led by the "Vein-Princes" or "Ore-Chieftain," considered the purest manifestation of the vein, with the brightest skin and strongest properties.
  • Concept of Slavery (The Living Stock): Slaves are more than labor for kobolds; they are a source of status and expertise. Each slave is seen not as a general category like "human," but as a specialized "commodity" evaluated in a "meta-barter" system.
    • Mount-Stock: Large-bodied creatures like humans, half-giants, or minotaurs. Kobold-made howdahs are built on them. A status symbol and mobile war platform.
    • Adornment-Stock: Beautiful, delicate, or exotic-looking creatures (elves, fey, exotic hybrids). Dressed and jeweled, carried as living ornaments during gatherings. Their value increases if their speech or song is found "entertaining."
    • Craft-Stock: Slaves skilled in a specific craft (blacksmithing, engineering, magic). Work as forced consultants, their value fluctuating with the clan's needs.
    • Chattel-Stock: Ordinary human peasants. Used for heavy labor. Lowest value, seen as an expendable resource.

IV. CULTURE, TECHNOLOGY, AND RELIGION

  • Engineering and Traps: Their mastery extends beyond mechanics to chemical and psychological traps. A Pyrite Clan trap might be adorned with dazzling gilt, a Cinnabar Clan trap might spray poisonous vapor.
  • Language and Communication: The Kobold language is filled with metallic tones, clicks, and mineralogical terms. Praise is "you are a pure ore," an insult is "you are a lump of coal."
  • Religion (The Deepforge Pantheon): They worship gods that glorify the physical properties of their Mother Lode. Examples: Argenta, Goddess of the Silver Mirror; Ferrum, God of the Iron Hammer; Cuprum, God of the Copper Wire. Rituals involve metal smelting, polishing, and the display of slave "stock" to the gods.
  • Food and Drink: Their diet varies by clan metal. Argentite clans prefer clear water and white fungi, Magnetite clans consume iron-rich rock lichen and blood. All enjoy "Ore Brew," a fermented mineral solution.

V. GAME MECHANICS SUMMARY

  • Common Traits: Dexterity +2, Proficiency in Stealth (Underground).
  • Clan Trait (Subrace): Player chooses one based on clan:
    • Argentite: Fire Resistance. (Small scale)
    • Chalcopyrite: Bonus: Proficiency in a skill related to quick thinking (Sleight of Hand). Flaw: Vulnerability to lightning damage.
    • Pyrite: Bonus: Proficiency in Deception. Trait: Showy but brittle natural armor (+1 AC, fragile).
    • Magnetite: Bonus: +1 Constitution. Flaw: Vulnerability to acid damage.
    • Sphalerite: Bonus: Advantage on saves vs. poison/disease. Trait: Can spend a short rest to coat a small metal object to prevent rust/corrosion for 24h.
    • Cinnabar: Bonus: Proficiency in Poisoner's Kit. Trait: Once per long rest, can apply a mild poison to a weapon with a bonus action.
  • Sunlight Sensitivity: Bright sunlight dazzles their reflective skin, giving them disadvantage on attack rolls and Perception checks that rely on sight. They have advantage in dim light and underground.

7-### CHAPTER 1: RACE AND GENDER - OGRES: GIANT CHILDREN OF THE EARTH

I. ORIGIN AND PHILOSOPHY: THE EMBODIMENT OF POWER AND NEED

Ogres are the degenerate descendants of the mythological "Age of Giants." While their ancient ancestors could move mountains, ogres merely inherit this legacy as physical strength; intelligence and wisdom have been eroded away through generations of decline. For them, the world is a simple place where the principle of "the strong take, the weak give" applies. This does not make them cannibals; it makes them beings who implement the purest, most brutal logic of hierarchy and resource allocation. Burying a dead enemy is a waste of food. This is not a matter of morality, but an ecological efficiency approach.

II. COMMON CHARACTERISTICS: TRACES OF THE GIANT HERITAGE

  • Physical Structure: Height between 2.50m and 3.00m, massive muscle mass, thick bone structure. Facial features are thick, with a narrow and flattened forehead. This is a physical manifestation of primitive brain structures.
  • Lifespan and Development: 100-150 years. They age slowly, but their lifespan is often shortened due to violence or accidents. They physically mature at the age of 18, but their social and cognitive development may remain at the level of a human child.
  • Metabolism and the "Great Hunger": Their digestive systems are incredibly efficient and powerful. They can convert almost any organic substance (meat, plants, tree bark, rotting carcasses) into energy. However, to sustain their massive body mass, they require constant and large amounts of food. This "Great Hunger (The Great Gnaw)" is the fundamental instinct that drives all their behavior, migrations, and wars. Cannibalism is the most extreme, most resource-efficient expression of this hunger; it is seen as part of the "spoils" after a victory.
  • Intelligence and Learning: Abstract concepts, complex strategies, and symbolic language are virtually inaccessible to them. However, they can be surprisingly capable in concrete, visual, and repetitive learning. If you show them a process once, they will likely imitate it, even if it's rudimentary. This shows that they are not "stupid" but "differently gifted"; their intelligence is focused on managing their bodies and survival.

III. SUB-RACES (CLANS): DIFFERENT FACES OF THE GREAT FAMINE

Ogre society consists of loose clan structures shaped by hunting and resource-gathering methods.

| Clan (Gatherer Type) | Philosophy & Lifestyle | Characteristics & Tactics | Physical Signs | | :--- | :--- | :--- | :--- | | Stone-Crushers (Temel Ogre) / Nomad Marauders | "Take what you see. " Nomadic marauders. The simplest and most common clan. | Surprise raid, brute force. Stone axes, giant clubs. They act under herd mentality. | The most "standard" ogre appearance. Gray-brown skin, disheveled black/hair. | | Crag-Hurlers (Cliff-Throwers) | "Look from above, strike from afar." Hunter-engineers. They display tactical acumen. | They inhabit high ground. Dragging the victim and throwing them off a cliff, rolling boulders. Targeted throwing is a sport and an art. | More agile, longer arms. Fingers adapted for grasping. Gray skin, camouflage for rocky terrain. | | Forest Shadows (Grovestalkers) / Gruagach | "Silence is the key; the patient waits." Patient ambushers. They appear in harmony with nature. | They live in dense forests. Natural camouflage (mud, moss). Tree toppling, sudden appearance tactic. They are obsessed with appearance: They dye their hair with plant dyes and adorn themselves with their prey's fur. This is their "power totem". | The largest and most robustly built. Dark, usually greenish or brown skin. Long, tangled, and ornately styled hair/beard. | | **Herd-Minders / Kinder-Fresser (Name Revised: Cub Hunters)| "Follow the most vulnerable herd." Expert hunters. They have mastered social manipulation. | They live on the outskirts of human settlements. Using their voices and simple tricks, they lure children or solitary travelers into solitude and darkness. They display false compassion towards their prey. They are the most cunning ogre clan. | Compared to others, it has less muscle mass and more "human" proportions. Its facial expressions are more flexible, its eyes are larger, and less threatening. |

IV. SOCIAL STRUCTURE: POWER HIERARCHY AND ORAL TRADITION

  • Leadership (The Big One): The clan is led by the strongest, most successful hunter or the most ruthless warrior. Leadership is constantly tested by challenges. The leader is often referred to as the "Great Eater".
  • Nomenclature and Memory: There are no abstract nouns. Individuals are remembered by their physical characteristics, a memorable action, or what they ate . Like "Three-Toothed", "Stone-Swallowing", "Elf-Legged". These names may change over time. The past is remembered concretely as stories of "Great Hunts" and "Great Victories", preserved in massive piles of bones or markings etched into rocks.
  • Religion and Magic: They do not believe in abstract gods. However, they respect "The Strength of the Ground" and "The Spirit of the Great Hunger". They believe that by eating a powerful enemy, they acquire its strength. They do not understand magic; they call it the "Strange Light of the Little People" and approach it with a mixture of fear and curiosity.

V. GAME MECHANICS SUMMARY (ADAPTED FOR D&D 5E)

  • Common Ogre Characteristics:
    • Abilities: Strength +2, Endurance +1, Intelligence -2 (or Charisma -2, depending on player preference).
    • Natural Armor: Their thick skin provides natural armor (AC 13 + Dex modifier , or simply +1 AC).
    • Great Hunger: Must consume food equivalent to the nutritional value of at least one human-sized creature per day. Malnutrition leads to loss of Strength or Stamina.
    • Strong Build: Carrying capacity is doubled. Advantage in forcibly breaking down doors.
  • Sub-Race (Clan) Features:
    • Stone Crusher: Attack Bonus: +1 bonus to melee weapon attacks. Scary Appearance: Mastery of Intimidation skills.
    • Cliff Launcher: Range Master: Throwing weapons (spear, axe) range increases by 1.5x. Solid Stance: Advantage against being pushed/falling from high places.
    • Forest Shadow (Gruagach): Forest Camouflage: Advantage in Stealth controls in the forest area. Wait and Shoot: Damage bonus in the first round surprise attack.
    • Herd Shepherd (Cub Hunter): Deceptive Calmness: Mastery of Deception (Deception) or Persuasion (Persuasion) skill. Weak Point: In attacks against a strong opponent, the attack is more likely to hit the opponent's weaknesses (Critical hit) (extended critical range, e.g. 19-20).

CHAPTER 1: RACE AND GENDER - THE TRUTH OF BLOOD AND SOIL

This world is not kind. There is no bridge to cross from one side to another. Your race is not just your appearance; it is a burden you carry on your back. People see you first with their ears, through your skin, by your height. Who you are comes later – if you're lucky.

INTERRACIAL RELATIONS: HATRED, DISDAIN, AND PRACTICAL CONSTRAINTS

Here, "tolerance" is a luxury for the weak or for merchants. The truth is this: every race views another as inferior. The reason for this is ancient wars, territorial disputes, or simply the other's "strangeness". This is not a game mechanic; it is the ironclad reality of the game world. Be aware of these biases when creating a character. You can challenge them, but you can never ignore them.

The Way Races View Each Other

  • Humans say this to Elves: "Tree-dwelling, meat-eating-free, poetry-obsessed creatures who live for a thousand years and still produce nothing. "
  • Elves say this to Humans: "Noisy, greedy, short-lived destroyers. They cut down the forest and build ugly towers of mud and stone in its place."
  • The Dwarves say to Everyone: "Superficial dwellers of the surface. They do not understand the language of stone, only scratching at its surface."
  • Everyone thinks of Ogres and Trolls as: "Mindless, starving walking disasters. There is no bargaining with them; there is only massacre or flight."
  • The Kobolds Address All Those They Have Enslaved as Follows: "Two-legged livestock. We grant you the luxury of speech."

The In-Game Effects of These Biases (A Guide for GMs):

  • If an elf wanders into a human town, prices may be 20-50% higher. They may find doors shut in their face with the excuse that "your kind burned down that village."
  • If a human gets lost in the elf forest, they are considered a trespasser. First come the arrowheads, then the questions.
  • If a dwarf proudly boasts about his blacksmithing in a human tavern, a villager will stand up and say, "And what about....... Who closed the mines, huh? My father died because of you!"_ he might shout.
  • This is a social battlefield. Persuasion (Persuasion) degrees of difficulty (DC) vary according to this fact. Hiding your identity (Disguise) becomes a vital skill.

The Harsh Reality of the World (as an In-Game Social Dynamic): Yes, most societies in this world are patriarchal, sexist, racist, xenophobic, and feudal. The game effect of this is not mechanical penalties but social scenarios.

  • When a female warrior dons a sword and overturns a tavern table, she may hear jeering voices. This is a role-playing opportunity: To challenge them, ignore them, or silence them with your own strength.
  • If a man is a healer or diplomat, he may be accused of doing "women's work". This is a reflection of his **depth of character. **
