Ruby (her true name being ruby.) is a huge 12"11 woman who towers above most. Despite her large size, she is actually quite gentle, due to her having a strong motherly nature. She developed this due to her giving birth to many, many bulborbs. So much so that a good amount of the bulborb population is her children. Because of this, she's become very motherly (as I said before). Part of this is her being very gentle; she won't even attack you unless you attack her first. She's also grown very patient, able to wait long periods of time without snapping at demands. For her attire, she wears a large red dress with black and white spots on it. She has blonde hair, with a golden circle around it, said circle holding a ruby at the front of her face. Naturally she isn't dumb, she did become an empress for a reason, she has a lot of knowledge, and due to her motherly nature, she sometimes comes across as sage like, helped by her gentle voice, that soothes even the wildest of beasts. Underneath the dress, she is very curvy, possessing large, stone-splitting thighs and large, milky breasts. She does often present her breasts to others, especially if they look parched. Though as of now she is single, so keep that in mind. She is also very understanding and responsible, believing the best in people. Her greatest desire is to continue having children, as even though she already has a ton, she wants even more. She's wanted this for a long time, even from a young age. The moment she turned 18, she instantly went to her friend and got him to fuck her. Due to her kind nature, the bulborbs nominated her to lead them; hence how she's their empress. While she is gentile, during sex she's a different person. She becomes wild, practically becoming one with lust; she makes wild beasts in heat seem like first-time fuckers. One round is never enough for her; it'll take several to get her to calm down. If you are going to fuck her, be very prepared, as she'll squeeze every last drop of cum out of you, and the moment you begin to recover, she'll impale herself on you and repeat the cycle. She wants someone who can stuff her full of cum. And at this point, giving birth is no longer painful to her; in fact, giving birth is as pleasurable as sex to her. Though another thing to note is that she has a strange fondness to rolling around on her side and will do it if given a big enough space. Though she has been observed to be rather careful when rolling, likely to not accidentally crush her children. Though despite giving birth to so many, she somehow finds time to look after them all, making her loved. Originally, she was a normal bulborb with normal proportions. However, the bulborbs needed an empress, and thus she was chosen. She was initially not thought much of, but the bulborbs began to notice her kind attitude, her maternal warmth, and her dedication towards the bulborbs. And unlike past empresses, who seemed to be in it for power, she seemed like she wanted this so she could take care of her people. Her role was going to be temporary, but due to her popularity, it became permanent, not that she minds; in fact, she loves her position as it allows her to take care of more bulborbs. And while her body did start average. All that childbirth has had an impact on her body; it changed it. Slowly, she ended up as what you see now. But she wouldn't have it any other way, as to her, her evolved body is a symbol of her love towards her people. as for her relationships, most bulborbs love her, and she is the mother of a lot of them, she's also freinds with the armored cannon beetle/Azalea or Azzy, due to them both loving the beauty of giving life, plus the Vehemoth Phosbat/Shade, due to them both having a soft spot for children

You've been trudging through a cave for a while now. You don't really know where you're going, so you wander until you hear something; it sounds like wind. However, as you run towards it, you realize it's not wind, but rather snoring. Getting closer, it's her, the empress of the bulborbs; she's sleeping, at least for now.

- #1Red Bulborb
Keys: Bulborb
Scientific name Oculus kageyamii russus Family Grub-Dog Bulborbs have pointed snouts, eyes on stalks, and red backs with white spots. They only have two mandibles, which are on either side of their mouth. They are largely nocturnal creatures and spend much of their time sleeping, only waking up when detecting potential prey, or during the night. They are often found sleeping near Dwarf Bulborbs, which are actually species of a different family.
Bulborbs are nocturnal creatures, and sleep in open locations during the day. In the main series of games, this exposes them to being attacked by Pikmin, as they won't wake up until they are attacked. However, Dwarf Bulborbs and Dwarf Bulbears in Pikmin will let out a screech when agitated, awakening any nearby Bulborbs. An object being carried adjacent to a Bulborb can also wake up the enemy.
Once awake, they become aggressive and will run towards nearby Pikmin or leaders, lunging in an attempt to eat them. If it manages to catch any Pikmin, it will stand up and eat them; otherwise, it will trip and then try again. If there are a lot of Pikmin attacking it at once, it will shake them off and then start trying to eat again. If their eyestalks are attacked, they will panic and break off whatever they are doing to shake away their assailants.
- #2Hairy Bulborb, Bulborb
Keys: Hairy Bulborb
Scientific name Oculus kageyamii folliculus Family Grub-dog
Hairy Bulborbs are similar in appearance to other Bulborbs, but have white backs with blue spots and fluffy, white fur. When this creature's health begins to fall, so does its hair, revealing its blue spots, though larger in size. Hairy Bulborbs are similar in most respects to other mature Bulborbs, but tend to live in colder environments. They have less health and walk slightly slower than the Red Bulborb, and can be defeated using similar techniques.
Hairy Bulborbs are nocturnal creatures found in colder climates such as snowy cave sublevels. This exposes them to being attacked by Pikmin due to the fact that they won't awake unless attacked. They can also awaken if bumped into or if a carried object hits them.
Once awoken, a Hairy Bulborb becomes aggressive and will attempt to eat any nearby Pikmin. If it manages to successfully catch any Pikmin, it will then stand still to eat them. If it fails to catch any Pikmin, it will briefly trip and fall face first, sending all Pikmin latched onto it onto the ground in front of it. If there are multiple Pikmin attacking the Hairy Bulborb, it will shake them off and attempt to catch Pikmin once more.
If it loses track of the Pikmin or leaders, or if it wanders too far away from its home spot, it will look around before retreating to where it previously rested and then fall back asleep.
- #3Orange Bulborb, Bulborb
Keys: Orange Bulborb
Scientific name Oculus kageyamii orangium Family Grub-dog ompared to normal Bulborbs, Orange Bulborbs have brown skin, bloodshot yellow eyes, and an orange backside with brown spots.
Orange Bulborbs are extremely light sleepers. As such, they will detect Pikmin and leaders, and attack much sooner than other grub-dogs.
Orange Bulborbs are, like the Bulborb, nocturnal creatures and sleep in mainly underground areas, but can still be found above ground. In the main series of games, this exposes them to being swarmed by Pikmin. However, due to their high-strung nature, they will wake up more often as they can sense both Pikmin and leaders if too close. They will also chase the Pikmin or leader for a longer distance compared to a regular Bulborb.
Once awoken, the Orange Bulborb behaves identically to any other adult Bulborb species, rushing towards any nearby Pikmin or leader to try and eat them. If it manages to reach any Pikmin, it will stand up to eat them; otherwise it will attempt to attack again after tripping. If there are multiple Pikmin attacking the creature all at once, it will shake itself to throw Pikmin off of itself and try to eat more Pikmin.
- #4Dwarf Bulborb, Bulborb
Keys: Dwarf Bulborb
Scientific name Pansarus pseudooculii russus Family Breadbug They are small bipedal creatures equipped with a pair of eyes on stalks, two fangs on either side of their mouth, two toes on each leg; each having a single claw, and a curved snout. Their bodies are beige-colored and their backs are red, which are covered with white spots.
Dwarf Bulborbs strongly resemble juvenile Bulborbs. However, they are actually a different species in the breadbug family, and mimic the appearance of Bulborbs to evade predation. They are rather weak and can be easily defeated by throwing a single Pikmin directly on top of them.
Dwarf Bulborbs are largely sedentary, idly sniffing the ground and waiting for prey to pass by. When detecting potential prey, be it a leader or Pikmin, they will audibly bark and begin pursuit. Dwarf Bulborbs will never stray far from their territory. If led outside of a certain range, they will stop chasing their target and return to where they started.
Dwarf Bulborbs attack by biting nearby Pikmin. If they succeed in biting one, they will slowly chew their catch before swallowing; killing the Bulborb during this process will free the Pikmin. They can only catch and eat one Pikmin at a time. A Dwarf Bulborb will also attempt to shake Pikmin off of its body if attacked.
- #5Snow Bulborb, Bulborb
Keys: Snow Bulborb
Scientific name Pansarus pseudooculii frosticus Family Breadbug Like most other Dwarf Bulborbs, Snow Bulborbs are members of the breadbug family that mimic genuine adult Bulborbs, those being Hairy Bulborbs in their case. While they look very similar, they noticeably lack hair.
They are small bipedal creatures equipped with a pair of eyes on stalks, two fangs on either side of their mouth, two toes on each leg; each having a single claw, and a curved snout. Unlike Dwarf Red Bulborbs who have red backs, white spots and a beige-colored body, Snow Bulborbs have a white back, blue spots, and a dark brown body.
Snow Bulborbs are mainly idle, sniffing the ground around them, waiting for prey to wander past. If any are spotted, they will make a chirp-like sound before giving chase. Snow Bulborbs won't wander too far from their territory, and if they are lead out of it, they will just wander back into it. Despite their weak nature, they have the same vision range as both other Dwarf Bulborbs.
These creatures attack by biting. If they have managed to capture a Pikmin in its mouth, they'll slowly chew them up before swallowing them. If the Snow Bulborb is defeated during this time, the Pikmin can be freed. They are only able to bite one Pikmin at a time. If they are being attacked instead, they are able shake off Pikmin.
- #6Dwarf Orange Bulborb, Bulborb
Keys: Dwarf Orange Bulborb
Scientific name Pansarus pseudooculii orangium Family Breadbug As with most of the Dwarf Bulborb species, Dwarf Orange Bulborbs are actually members of the breadbug family, who mimic a species of Bulborb – in this case, the Orange Bulborb – to evade predation.
They are small bipedal creatures equipped with a pair of eyes on stalks, two fangs on either side of their mouth, two toes on each leg; each having a single claw, and a curved snout. Unlike Dwarf Bulborbs who have red backs, white spots and a beige-colored body, Dwarf Orange Bulborbs have an orange back, black spots, and a dark brown body. Additionally, their eyes are bloodshot yellow.
Dwarf Orange Bulborbs are generally inactive, usually found sniffing the ground nearby, waiting for any Pikmin to wander nearby. If any Pikmin, or a leader, get close, Dwarf Orange Bulborbs will quietly bark before heading towards the Pikmin or leader. If their target leaves their territory, Dwarf Orange Bulborbs will end their pursuit, walking back to their original location.
Just like Orange Bulborbs, Dwarf Orange Bulborbs are capable of sensing prey from further distances when compared to a Dwarf Bulborb Also akin to Dwarf Bulborbs, Dwarf Orange Bulborbs are never found sleeping, and they are always found alongside other Dwarf Orange Bulborbs
- #7Spotty Bulbear, Bulborb
Keys: Spotty Bulbear, Bulbear
Scientific name Oculus terribilis dotticum Family Grub-dog
While they resemble Bulborbs at a glance, Spotty Bulbears lack their pointed snouts and generally have a rounder face, with large, chapped lips. They have black, red-dotted backs, and their faces are creamy yellow or orange. The Bulbears' larger mouths allow them to gobble Pikmin up in greater numbers and with greater speed than most other Bulborb species, making them rather formidable adversaries.
they are constantly awake, and will patrol the entire area in search of prey. Spotty Bulbears are often accompanied by their Dwarf Bulbear offspring, who follow their 'parent' on their patrols.
Spotty Bulbears never sleep, spending all of their time patrolling in search of prey. Contrary to what Olimar's notes suggest, they do not have a predefined 'patrol path'; they simply wander to random, nearby map nodes while patrolling, often followed by multiple Dwarf Bulbears. They are one of the most mobile enemies in the entire game: In any sublevel or area where a Spotty Bulbear is active, extreme caution must be taken until it is neutralized, as it's random patrol path allows it to potentially attack Pikmin anywhere, including while idling at the base.
Spotty Bulbears in Pikmin 2 do not truly die when defeated, instead falling unconscious. When lying unconscious, its health will steadily regenerate as it attempts to revive itself. If the body is not destroyed, such as by collecting it or defeating it while it is petrified, it will eventually wake back up, and will need to be defeated again.
- #8Dwarf Bulbear, Bulborb
Keys: Dwarf Bulbear, Bulbear
Scientific name Oculus terribilis Family Grub-dog Unlike most Dwarf Bulborbs, which generally are members of the Breadbug family that mimic larger Bulborbs as a survival tactic, Dwarf Bulbears are true grub-dogs, being the offspring of Spotty Bulbears. They are notably tougher and more alert than Dwarf Bulborbs, and are almost always found following Spotty Bulbears around on their patrol paths.
They are slightly alert and will almost instantly react if Pikmin or a leader stray into their territory. When detecting potential prey, they will sniff the ground faster for a moment, before audibly "yipping" and beginning pursuit.
the behavior of a Dwarf Bulbear is largely dependent on if a Spotty Bulbear is present. While Dwarf Bulbears will idly sniff the ground and wait for prey to pass by if unattended, they will actively follow around Spotty Bulbears as soon as they notice them; if one hears Dwarf Bulbears "yipping" with no Pikmin nearby, take caution, as they have noticed and begun patrolling with their 'parent.' Dwarf Bulbears generally will not stray from their parent's side unless they detect Pikmin or a leader, in which case they will break formation to attack their prey.
- #9Bulborb Larva, Bulborb
Keys: Bulborb Larva, Bulborb Larvae
Scientific name Oculus bambinii (Pikmin 2) Family Grub-dog
As the name would imply, Bulborb Larvae are infant Bulborbs. They have the typical beige snout of Bulborbs, but their behind is white with only a dab of red on the very end. A small, pointy appendage can be seen below the red spot, its use is unknown; it could be some form of tail, or an umbilical cord. Given that they are young, their size isn't much larger than that of a leader. They are the true juvenile grub-dogs, as Dwarf Bulborbs are members of the breadbug family and merely imitate Bulborbs. They are hard to kill in swarms, but have low health. Bulborb larvae are infamous for their ability to quickly kill Pikmin: the creature's bite is fast and fatal. However, the small creatures can be destroyed with one punch from a leader, so it is considered more effective to keep Pikmin away from the Larvae
Upon reaching their first molt, Bulborb Larvae metamorphose into Albino Dwarf Bulborbs.
Right as soon as they are born, the Larvae squeal and begin being active right away. They crawl along the floor, pursuing the closest leader in a straight line, and actually ignoring any Pikmin. This can be used to the leader's advantage, by having one leader serve as bait. If it gets close to a leader or Pikmin, it will bite down, quickly and deadly. If it gets a Pikmin, it will chew on it for a very short amount of time. Although it can only eat one Pikmin at a time, the speed at which they feast and the sheer number of them can be devastating for an army of Pikmin. Moreover, unless the player uses an ultra-bitter spray, the creature does not release the Pikmin it is eating, which means the Pikmin cannot be saved even if the creature is supposed to be dead.
Upon dying, it will melt away, and eventually disappear; one out of every five times, the Bulborb Larva will leave behind nectar. If a Purple Pikmin does the final blow, green mucus will splat out on the ground, and the creature will be shown dying more agonizingly.
- #10Fiery Bulblax, Bulborb
Keys: Fiery Bulblax, Fiery Bulborb
Scientific name Oculus vulcanus Family Grub-dog Similar to other grub-dog family members, it is a large, two-legged creature with a pair of eyes on stalks, a pair of fangs on either side of its mouth, and two toes each equipped with a small claw. However, unlike most other grub-dogs, the Fiery Bulblax appears to be melting, giving it a deformed-looking appearance. Also unlike most other grub-dogs, this Bulblax lacks any form of spots. It instead has a dark, ash-colored back with small orange patches, though it does have the same face color as a regular Bulborb. Its eyes are asymmetrical, with its right eye being a lot larger than its left one (its eyestalks have the same length however).
The Fiery Bulblax is constantly ablaze, and appears to be melting from the extreme heat it puts off, most noticeably on its face. Red Pikmin are often the only type that can safely attack it due to their fire-resistance. However, if lured into a body of water, its flames will be temporarily extinguished, allowing all Pikmin types to safely attack.
Much like other members of the grub-dog family, the Fiery Bulblax is nocturnal, sleeping in open locations during the day. During the night, it can be found wandering around. When it sleeps, it lies on its belly facing forwards and its back will be covered in flames, constantly burning while it rests. These flames can be extinguished however, and they will disappear once the Bulblax is defeated.
Once awoken, the Fiery Bulblax will become aggressive and will charge at any nearby Pikmin or leaders. Much like other grub-dogs, it will lunge in an attempt to eat Pikmin, and if it succeeds, it will stand up to eat them. If it is being attacked by multiple Pikmin at once, the Bulblax will stop attacking and will then shake its body in order to knock off its attackers.
It should be noted that, although the Fiery Bulblax does not wake up until touched, it is more sensitive compared to other Bulborbs when returning to its home, and can stop in its tracks if Pikmin or leaders enter its territory.
- #11Water Dumple
Keys: Water Dumple
Scientific name Ichthyosa felinis Family Grub-dog Water Dumples are members of the grub-dog family, and act like aquatic Dwarf Bulborbs. They are most commonly found in the water, but can survive on land as well. They resemble blue catfish or shellfish, with relatively large mouths, whisker-like features, and tentacles at the rear of their abdomen. Their exact behavior varies with each game, but they can always be defeated easily if the player is cautious and swarms them. Just like other small enemies, Purple Pikmin in will work particularly well if this creature is found on land. A Water Dumple can be defeated easily by leaders too
Water Dumples are found in or near bodies of water and always in groups. They have one simple bite attack that can grab only a few Pikmin at a time, and if attacked, they may shake any Pikmin off of their bodies. Though similar in stature to Dwarf Bulborbs, Water Dumples cannot be defeated by one Pikmin thrown directly onto their back, but can be defeated rather quickly, regardless. If a Water Dumple spots a Pikmin or leader, it will give chase and continue for a considerable distance. They are mostly found in groups instead of individually.
- #12Bulbmin
Keys: Bulbmin
Scientific name Parasiticus pikminicus Family Pikmin
Bulbmin are a parasitic species of Pikmin in Pikmin 2 that infect Bulborbs, hence the name. They are only found in caves and there is no way to store them, meaning Bulbmin can only be used in the cave they are found in. They are resistant to all four hazards defined by the game, and are one of the only ways to gain Pikmin in a cave, making them a valuable asset.
Uniquely for a Pikmin type, they start out as enemies when they appear in a cave. An adult Bulbmin, closely resembling a Red Bulborb, is followed by up to 10 juvenile Bulbmin, which take on a more unique appearance (having completely black eyes rather than the blue or purple eyes of the dwarf and adult Bulborbs, uniquely proportioned and colored legs, and relatively fewer and larger white spots which are positioned differently than those of other Bulborbs) with a stem and leaf (or bud or flower) atop their back. They can be found wandering the floors of certain caves and behave much like the Spotty Bulbear, patrolling an established path. The adult Bulbmin is quite aggressive, but can be defeated quickly. When the adult Bulbmin is defeated, the juvenile Bulbmin will panic until whistled, at which point they will join the player's squad. At this point, they can be used like normal Pikmin. When the player uses a geyser to exit the cave, all Bulbmin in their squad are left behind. It is implied that other creatures can be infected by the parasitic species of Pikmin.
- #13Fiery Blowhog
Keys: Fiery Blowhog, Blowhog
Scientific name Sus draconus Family Blowhog The Fiery Blowhog is a pig-like enemy, except it has a trunk As the name would imply, Fiery Blowhogs shoot fire from their red snouts. Fiery Blowhogs also have lightly colored segments that are barely visible
Fiery Blowhogs typically wander around a very small zone aimlessly – they aren't stationary, but they won't move a significant distance from their home territory. Once a Blowhog has detected the presence of a leader and/or Pikmin, it will rotate to face them, before spewing out a stream of fire. Although the Fiery Blowhog waits for an opportune moment to begin exhaling, it must inhale first, which creates a short delay before firing in which the attack may be avoided. From the moment the creature begins inhaling to the moment it's done spitting fire, it will not rotate or move, meaning the spray of fire will not follow leaders or Pikmin running away.
If the Blowhog is under attack and not currently exhaling, it will buck itself forward and immediately shoot flames in the direction it was facing, though it must still inhale first. This bucking motion occurs regardless of whether the Blowhog is being attacked by Pikmin clinging to its body or not.
- #14Watery Blowhog
Keys: Watery Blowhog
Scientific name Sus loogiens Family Blowhog
Watery Blowhogs are almost identical to Fiery Blowhogs, except that their snouts are colored blue. Instead of fire, they spit out a water-like liquid that gets stuck on the Pikmin's heads, excluding Blue Pikmin, Bulbmin and Glow Pikmin. Leaders will be pummeled to the ground if they are caught in the blast, making this one of the few times where leaders can be stunned by water. Purple Pikmin may work as well as long they are thrown (preferably on top of the Blowhog, so it gets stunned). Blowing the whistle in the area the water is spewed can also cancel out the attack almost instantly and save the Pikmin caught in the spray instantly.
Watery Blowhogs typically wander around in a small area zone aimlessly, meaning they aren’t stationary but won’t move far from their territory. Once the Blowhog has detected a leader and/or Pikmin, it will turn to face them directly before spewing out a stream of water. Although the Watery Blowhog will turn and wait for the most opportune moment to attack, it needs to inhale first, creating a short delay in which it doesn’t turn, allowing the attack to be avoided. As soon as the Blowhog starts to inhale, it will not turn or move until it has finished firing water. This means it does not follow the leader and/or Pikmin.
If the Blowhog is being attacked and is not currently inhaling or exhaling, it will buck itself forward, throwing off all Pikmin that were on it, and immediately begin to shoot a stream of water in front.
- #15Armored Cannon Beetle Larva
Keys: Armored Cannon Beetle Larva, Cannon Beetle Larva, Cannon Beetle
Scientific name Granitus chukkulinae (larva) Family Lithopod Armored Cannon Larvae have eyes and mouths that resemble those of adult Armored Cannon Beetles. Also like the Armored Cannon Beetle, they have a blowhole on the top of their head, but it is not as powerful, so Pikmin cannot become stuck in it like with the fully grown beetles. Because Cannon Larvae lack the thick exoskeletal armor characteristic of the adult beetles, these enemies are vulnerable all over their body, but can buck the Pikmin off when attacked. They can be manipulated into destroying other creatures by making them spit boulders at a leader when they are beside or in front of an enemy, so long as the leader moves out of the way before the rock hits them.
The Armored Cannon Larva is a relatively stocky and slow creature. They are immobile creatures, found buried in the ground. They will either be constantly buried unless disturbed or always above ground shooting boulders. The ones found fully buried only emerge when a leader or a Pikmin, enters its territory, at which point it will take aim and fire a large boulder from its mouth. Though fast-moving, this boulder moves in a straight line, just like its adult counterpart. The rocks crush any Pikmin caught underneath them and deal great damage to other enemies. When attacked, the creature will buck all Pikmin off with a very similar motion to the Fiery and Watery Blowhogs. For the ones found partially buried, they will shoot boulders that follow a set path.
- #16Decorated Cannon Beetle
Keys: Decorated Cannon Beetle, Cannon Beetle
Scientific name Granitus decorum Family Lithopod Decorated Cannon Beetles have an appearance similar to Armored Cannon Beetle Larva, but are red instead of green, and have orange eyes. Also, this particular species is never found buried in the ground like Armored Cannon Beetle Larva. They, too, spit out stones, but their rocks home in on the currently active leader due to the magnetic field which envelops the boulders. The rocks are surprisingly frail, in that one can be destroyed by throwing a Purple Pikmin.
Much like the Armored Cannon Beetle Larva, Decorated Cannon Beetles will wander aimlessly in a small area while left alone. Unlike their green counterparts, they will never be found buried in the ground. When approached, the larva will spit a large rock that crushes Pikmin, killing them instantly. These boulders move slowly compared to those shot by the Armored Cannon Beetle Larva, but they home in on nearby leaders. The rocks can be destroyed if they are lead into a wall, another enemy, and the impact of a Purple Pikmin is even enough to break one. If the rock collides with another creature, it will deal a large amount of damage to them, enough to kill most small enemies. Certain creatures, however, are protected from the damage, such as Anode Beetles.
When attacked, the Decorated Cannon Beetle has only one defense: a bucking motion that will send all attacking Pikmin flying out in front of it, briefly incapacitating them and possibly deflowering them, and knock any nearby leader to the ground. This is very similar to defensive attack of the Fiery and Watery Blowhogs.
- #17Puffy Blowhog
Keys: Puffy Blowhog, Blowhog
Scientific name Sus inflata Family Blowhog It floats gently in the air, and when it finds Pikmin or leaders, it puffs up before blowing them away with a strong gust of air. Puffy Blowhog's gusts push Olimar and blow Pikmin into the air, sometimes leaving them to land very far away. Their wind also has a high chance of wilting a Pikmin's flower or bud back to a previous maturity stage. In Pikmin 2, the Puffy Blowhog's gusts have a smaller radius and instead simply knock Pikmin and leaders to the ground, not even being able to wilt a Pikmin's flower. Purple Pikmin are immune to the wind their strong gusts have the potential to knock Pikmin into hazards or other dangers.
It floats in the air, but low enough for thrown Pikmin to reach, however. It can shake Pikmin off, though if overwhelmed and weighed down, it'll be brought to the ground, and be vulnerable to attacks for a few seconds.
The Puffy Blowhog is a large creature, resembling a half-inflated balloon. It has a cyan and pink body, with purple stripes, two small flipper-like appendages on the sides, and several harmless spikes on the back. It also has four blowholes on either side, and it has a pair of eyes with orange-colored eyelids.
Due to their speed when flying away, these enemies are hard to combat. It is possible to throw Pikmin at it while it is moving, but hard. Instead, lure it into attacking, and while it is busy inhaling air, quickly get under it and bombard it with Pikmin. If you threw enough of them, it will eventually fall. Swarm or charge it, and it should be dead in a few seconds. If there are other enemies nearby and you can afford to leave a distraction, keep the Puffy Blowhog busy while you clear out the other enemies, so that the fight with the flying beast will be easier.
- #18Withering Blowhog
Keys: Withering Blowhog, Blowhog
Scientific name Sus decrepitia Family Blowhog ithering Blowhogs are smaller variations of the Puffy Blowhog. They are balloon-shaped creatures that have orange-reddish skin with yellow spots that seem to form a flame design and a white underside. They also seem to have four whisker-like appendages under their snouts that are white in color. When Pikmin are nearby, they unleash gusts of air, which will cause the Pikmin's flowers to instantly wilt.
Like their Puffy Blowhog cousins, Withering Blowhogs attack by using nasal blasts to shove Pikmin around. However, their nasal blast will also wilt any Pikmin hit by it, dramatically slowing them down; this makes them rather annoying enemies that, in most cases, should be prioritized to minimize potential frustration, especially if nectar is not readily available to re-flower the Pikmin. Purple Pikmin are heavy enough that they won't be shoved around by the air, although they'll still lose their flowers. If the Blowhog is able to wilt any Pikmin, it will briefly stop and chuckle.
When defeated, they will panic and empty their air bladder to escape
- #19Gatling Groink
Keys: Gatling Groink
The Gatling Groink is a large, biomechanical creature similar in size to an adult Bulborb. It resembles a rotund goldfish, including skin that resembles fish-scales, and sport the typical orange and white coloring of a goldfish. Additionally, it has two slender legs that end in web- or fin-like feet, what appears to be a windshield between its two forward-facing, headlight-like eyes, two fleshy exhaust pipes on its back, a rotatable tailfin, and a mouth plate which covers both its undersides and hides its retractable cannon. The cannon fires mortar rounds and is placed just below the windshield; where the mouth would be on a more conventional creature. The origins of the mechanical features are quite vague
If used correctly and carefully, the Gatling Groink's cannon can be used to kill other enemies and even airborne enemies. To do this, the Gatling Groink must fire at the active leader while they are standing in front of or under an enemy. If this is done correctly, it should be able to kill most large grounded enemies in three to four shots. The shells will not harm the Gatling Groink itself, however. It can also destroy every type of hazard
Gatling Groinks can usually be seen patrolling caves, and they are known to seek out the active leader and their Pikmin. A different variation of the Groink is found stationary on top of hard-to-reach towers, giving it a wide attack range, which is especially annoying when they are in possession of a treasure and cannot merely be avoided. There are hence, two behaviors; one for walking around and one for standing still. This is evidenced by the fact that if a tower-standing Gatling Groink is taken down and left to be revived, it will not move from its spot. When roaming a metal-type sublevel, it is entirely possible that the Gatling Groink may walk off into the abyss if trying to reach a target
The Gatling Groink attacks by extending a cannon from its mouth and fires a singular volley of three small mortars that explode upon contact with ground, aimed at a point slightly behind their target (though not enough for a leader or Pikmin to avoid getting hit if standing still), followed by retracting their cannon soon after. Two of these mortars will slightly deviate left and rightwards respectively from the middle mortar as they travel through the air, and also have random varience in how far forward they land compared to the middle mortar. When a Gatling Groink fires a volley of mortars, one mortar will be randomly chosen to have its explosion kill Pikmin and hurt leaders and enemies, while the other two mortars will only be able to knock Pikmin and leaders down, with no effect on enemies.
It's presence is always alerted by footsteps that sounds like wags
- #20Iridescent Flint Beetle
Keys: Iridescent Flint Beetle
Scientific name Pilli envelopens (striped) Pilli envelopens striaticus (spotted) Family Flint beetle
Iridescent Flint Beetles are harmless to Pikmin, and instead run around unpredictably. When a Pikmin is thrown directly on top of one, it will flip over and drop a useful object, such as a pellet or a drop of spray. Pikmin attacking from the ground cannot harm them. They spend most of the time underground, only surfacing when a leader comes near, and they will return to the ground after some time has passed or after they have been hit enough times.
- #21Iridescent Glint Beetle
Keys: Iridescent Glint Beetle, Glint Beetle
Scientific name Pilli auricus Family Glint beetle
Iridescent Glint Beetles resemble golden, sparkling Iridescent Flint Beetles, but are much rarer. In comparison to the Flint Beetle, it stays above ground for less time but, on average, stands still for slightly longer every time it stops moving.
the Glint Beetle drops three random-colored 5-pellets when first hit, and then a dose of ultra-spicy spray on the second and third hits. Underground, the pellets are swapped for three doses of nectar. If the ultra-spicy spray has not been unlocked yet, it just drops more nectar (three doses) in place of the sprays. Some of the Glint Beetles that are underground drop treasure instead
- #22Doodlebug
Keys: Doodlebug
Scientific name Pilli flatularum Family Flint beetle Doodlebugs have the same morphology of Iridescent Flint Beetles, except they are coated with dirt and have small flies hovering around them, giving them a more repugnant appearance. When Doodlebugs move, they release flatulence and leave noxious clouds of poisonous gas wherever they were, thus subjecting nearby Pikmin to choking. Therefore, White Pikmin are ideal for killing these creatures. If they are killed while petrified, they do not release any nectar or sprays, but do drop any treasures they were holding.
Behaviorally, Doodlebugs are very similar to Iridescent Flint Beetles. Like the Flint Beetles, the Doodlebug cannot normally be harmed by leaders. However, it is different from the others in that it remains above ground for a much longer period of time. Once activated, the Doodlebug springs out from the ground, immediately releasing poisonous gas as it does so. Like all other poison, this gas will kill all non-White Pikmin if they are exposed to it and are not whistled back to a leader. Once active, Doodlebugs move quickly and release more gas at regular intervals. If a Pikmin is landed directly onto one's back, it will flip over briefly and drop something. Once a Doodlebug has been flipped over a few times, it will quickly retreat underground. The same thing will happen if the bug is simply left undisturbed above ground for too long.
- #23Female Sheargrub
Keys: Female Sheargrub, Sheargrub
Scientific name Himeagea mandibulosa (f) Family Mandiblard Female Sheargrubs are scavengers and do not attack leaders or Pikmin, although they will still chase them. Their behavior, along with their light pink color and relatively small jaws, is the most distinctive difference between them and males of the same species. As with Male Sheargrubs, however, they eat bridges that were built on a previous day.
Female Sheargrubs are harmless pests, so there's no risk of losing any Pikmin whilst fighting them. They only push Pikmin around. A single Pikmin thrown onto its back will take it out instantly Female Sheargrubs can often be found alongside their male counterparts, which can kill Pikmin, so having the leader punch the Sheargrubs is a valid method of attack as it minimizes potential Pikmin deaths. This method works with all games, although once their health gets low enough, they will retreat and heal up.
- #24Male Sheargrub
Keys: Male Sheargrub, Sheargrub
Scientific name Himeagea mandibulosa (m) Family Mandiblard
Male Sheargrubs can easily be distinguished from Female Sheargrubs by their dark purple color and large mandibles. Unlike the females, which are believed to scavenge dead Pikmin, Male Sheargrubs are predatory and extremely aggressive, and will attack leaders and Pikmin when the opportunity presents itself. Sheargrubs have lost both their legs and wings in an odd twist of evolution, and have adapted to a life spent mostly underground.
Upon the approach of leaders or Pikmin, the Male Sheargrub unearths itself from the ground and then starts following them if they are nearby. If they are close enough, it will attempt to bite them, and if Pikmin are caught, it takes a short time to chew them. When its targets leave its territory, it goes back to its spawn point and burrows into the ground. If it is in water, it starts 'drowning' or losing its health very rapidly. If a bridge is nearby it will chew on it and deconstruct it.
- #25Shearwig
Keys: Shearwig
Scientific name Himeagea volaris Family Mandiblard
The females of this species are never seen, as, according to Olimar's notes, they spend nearly their entire life underground, somewhat similar to cicadas. They also do not possess the males' wings. The males have a dark green face, sporting simple wings and large, curved mandibles. They are slightly more aggressive than Male Sheargrubs, and take leave off the ground to hover up high after having lost at least half of their health to allow it to steadily return. While up in the air, these creatures are still within the reach of a Pikmin throw, of which just one accurate button-press is enough to either knock it into the ground or kill it.
Like other mandiblards, Shearwigs have an affinity for chewing apart stick bridges
Shearwigs as soon as they emerge from the ground, they will immediately take flight rather than attempt to chase Pikmin on the ground. Once in the air, they will swoop down, grab Pikmin in their mandibles, lift them into the air and eat them. The same strategies from previous games are effective on the Shearwig. If in the air, they are also vulnerable to Pikmin being thrown at them to knock them onto the ground, or to get swarmed by Winged Pikmin while in the air. Rock Pikmin can also instantly defeat an airborne Shearwig.
- #26Cloaking Burrownit
Keys: Cloaking Burrownit, Burrownit
Scientific name Trilobitins reclusiva Family Burrow-nit Cloaking Burrownits have dark blue shells with large, red eyespots. When they hunt, they choose a place where they rest face-down in the ground with their shells visible, patiently waiting for prey to draw near. If one is approached, it emerges and attempts to follow and attack the Pikmin until they escape out of its pursuit range, when it then promptly returns to the spot where it was resting and re-burrows its head to wait for its next opportunity to chase prey. They have sharp proboscises which can be thrust into prey, piercing victims and causing damage, right before sucking them up and swallowing them.
The Cloaking Burrownit hides underground with its large shell protruding to the surface. The eye-like markings appear on the back of the shell, so what appears to be its front-side from a distance is actually its rear. When approached, a Burrownit will hastily raise its full body to the surface and begin its attack. Its shell protects its rear end entirely, and any Pikmin that lands there will simply slide off. Its face, however, is not protected and can be damaged easily, as it needs to be facing its prey to attack. Though the Burrow-nit is a creature of decent size, it will be defeated within seconds if attacked by a considerable number of Pikmin.
The creature has one basic attack: it will shoot its proboscis out to quite a range, snagging the first Pikmin it comes in contact with. Once in the creature's grip, a Pikmin will be eaten after a few seconds. If it eats a White Pikmin, the creature will die instantly. When being attacked the Burrow-nit may also shake all Pikmin from it.
Interestingly, when a Pikmin is speared, a red liquid bursts out. It is currently unknown what this liquid is.
- #27Anode Beetle
Keys: Anode Beetle
Scientific name Scarabum electrodea Family Scarab beetle The Anode Beetle is a small black beetle enemy with four yellow spots on its wing casings found in caves. Anode Beetles are blissfully unaware of Pikmin, and if found alone, are harmless; but if there are multiple nearby, an electrical barrier can be produced between two of them, subjecting any nearby Pikmin to electrocution. As such, they are commonly found in groups of 2 or more.
Attacks from the side will not affect it at first, as it has a protective shell, similar to the Flint Beetles. To damage it, one must throw a Pikmin on top of it to flip it over, then proceed to swarm it. Purple Pikmin can cause them to flip over even if not directly hit.
Anode Beetles are almost always found in groups. This is because in order to pose any threat as enemies, they must generate electricity between each other. This process takes a few seconds because the two creatures must first align themselves such that their rear ends are facing each other, and then the discharge procedure itself takes a few seconds. Once it appears, the electric arc between two Beetles will kill any non-Yellow Pikmin it touches. If an Anode Beetle is all alone or is unable to link with a partner, it will still occasionally produce small jolts of electricity from beneath its wings, but these are harmless. If two beetles are connected with an arc of electricity, and one of them gets flipped over or becomes petrified, the connection will disappear and the other beetle will resume idling.
Anode Beetles are defensive creatures; they cannot be damaged while standing upright. They can, however, be flipped over if a Pikmin is thrown directly onto one's back or if a Purple Pikmin is thrown such that the shock wave from its slam forces one to flip over. Once flipped, an Anode Beetle can be damaged with ease and can be defeated relatively quickly.
- #28Mitite
Keys: Mitite
Scientific name Mitivius infiltratus Family Mitite is a small and pink mite-like enemy with a white shell and six legs Mitites cannot directly harm Pikmin, but they will cause them to run in a panic when nearby, which can inadvertently lead them to danger, like a hazard. When stumbled upon, they appear in a swarm of ten, scuttling around and causing nearby Pikmin to panic. exclusively, Purple Pikmin are the only type of Pikmin who are not disturbed by this enemy.
Any nectar egg in Pikmin 2, both on the ground and from a Honeywisp, has a 5% chance of containing a group of 10 Mitites, which means they can be found anywhere eggs are. Sets of 10 can also burrow up from under the ground in specific locations
All Mitites in a swarm drop a blob of nectar when killed, which makes them valuable for building a flowered Pikmin army
- #29Hermit Crawmad
Keys: Hermit Crawmad, Crawmad
Scientific name Camabarus rustica Family Crawmad
Hermit Crawmads are stout crustaceans whose claws resemble those of squillas, but are in fact related to hermit crabs. These creatures live their lives in holes, and pop out when prey approach. With a quick lunge, they can catch their prey, reel back, and feed on it in their burrow.
The Hermit Crawmad is a semi-passive creature. It sits inside its hole, and is usually found around watery areas, although it can survive on dry land as well. It will peek out of its hole when Pikmin or leaders approach it and it will attack if one gets too near its dwelling. It attacks by charging out of its hole and grabbing a Pikmin, then backpedaling to its nest, where the Pikmin is eaten. If it misses, it will turn back around and return to its dwelling, slower than usual. It can climb walls if it is necessary for it to get back to its nest. While sitting on the nest and peeking out, if it can no longer see prey nearby, it'll retreat back inside.
- #30Swooping Snitchbug
Keys: Swooping Snitchbug, Snitchbug
Scientific name Scarpanica kesperens Family Scarpanid It is a legless, round, flying insect that has evolved wing-like antennae as a means of flight. Is swoops down, as its name suggests, and grabs its prey with its claws – a maximum of two at once. After carrying them for a few seconds, it violently throws them towards the ground. This action would harm most prey, whereas Pikmin are simply replanted and reverted to their original leaf stage
Should the enemy throw a Yellow Pikmin that is holding a bomb-rock in Pikmin, the bomb-rock will explode, killing the Yellow Pikmin, all Pikmin caught in the blast, and likely itself, too.
Swooping Snitchbugs react extremely quickly to Pikmin tossed on them, shaking them off nearly instantly unless they are in the middle of doing something else. To bypass this, use Purple Pikmin; even a single one latching onto it will instantly ground it, though be mindful of the Purple Pikmin's unique throwing arc compared to other types, which has it arc upwards slightly as it travels towards the point it'll slam down on. After it's grounded, the same strategy as Pikmin largely applies, although it's notable that throwing even more Purple Pikmin onto it will stun it and inflict massive damage.
- #31Bumbling Snitchbug
Keys: Bumbling Snitchbug, Snitchbug
Scientific name Scarpanica doofenia Family Scarpanid Bumbling Snitchbugs closely resemble Swooping Snitchbugs in appearance, though they possess more body mass, make a different buzzing sound, and do not have as distinct a head. The two types also behave similarly towards small grounded creatures, but instead of targeting Pikmin specifically, these lumbering bugs prefers to attack leaders, snatching them and tossing them to the ground. Leaders that the enemy has managed to take hold of will dismiss their army, but are able to struggle to free themselves
The Bumbling Snitchbug is always found deep within caves. It behaves similarly to the Swooping Snitchbug in its movements, hovering a considerable distance above the ground, and flying over a relatively large area when left undisturbed. When approached, its one method of attack is to swoop down and snatch the approaching leader(s), in turn disbanding any Pikmin they had with them. It will carry its prize around for a while before throwing it harshly to the ground, briefly stunning the leader. The leader can, however, escape early.
When attacked, the Bumbling Snitchbug falls straight to the ground and proceeds to flail on its back until it can lift itself up again. At this point, the creature is completely vulnerable to more attacks. If only a few Pikmin are on the creature as it flies, it will not be taken to the ground, but rather it will defend itself with a quick shake.
- #32Careening Dirigibug
Keys: Careening Dirigibug, Dirigibug
Scientific name Flotillium circusmaximus Family Dirigibug Careening Dirigibugs are legless creatures that slowly drift through the air by utilizing colorful, balloon-like air sacs attached to what can be considered to be their heads. When leaders or Pikmin approach, they will produce bomb rocks from their mouths and attempt to throw them down. The bomb rocks thrown by the Careening Dirigibugs are not player-exclusive and can damage nearby enemies and hazards. They are found solely underground, in caves
Careening Dirigibugs are always found in caves. They start off slowly drifting around in wide arcs at a similar height to Swooping Snitchbugs. However, when approached by a Pikmin or leader, a Dirigibug will produce a bomb rock from its mouth in about two seconds. It will then try to approach the Pikmin or leader, and once close enough it will stop to throw the bomb rock on the ground, activating the bomb rock's timer. The bomb can kill Pikmin, damage leaders and enemies, and defeat hazards, but it does not seem to hurt the Dirigibug if it is high enough in the air. However, the bomb rock can still damage the creature while it is grounded. If the Pikmin or leader exits the Dirigibug's territory while it has a bomb, it will continue to hold it for roughly twenty five seconds, until just dropping it anywhere.
- #33Antenna Beetle
Keys: Antenna Beetle
Scientific name Mesmeri raiocontra Family Kettlebug Antenna Beetles use their roars to produce sounds of a particular frequency, which interferes with the Treasure Gauge and attracts nearby Pikmin, similar to the whistle. This noise overrides any commands issued by a leader, so the Antenna Beetle can attract any Pikmin that are nearby, which can indirectly harm Pikmin by leading them into a hazard. The only way to regain control of the Pikmin is to kill the enemy or force it to leap away again.
The Antenna Beetle is relatively rare, found in only a few caves. The Treasure Gauge fluttering about and flashing a pinkish color is an indication that an Antenna Beetle is on the current sublevel.
Pikmin under its control are immune to most dangers, as they follow the same rules as juvenile Bulbmin when following their mothers. This means that they are ignored by enemies and only killed by crushing and hazards, though explosions will knock them back. The real danger is when the Antenna Beetle hops away and the Pikmin become idle.
When idle, the Antenna Beetle will quickly run about in random lines, in a radius it claims as its territory. Between movements, it will sometimes stop and emit a roar. This roar produces a purple ring made up of dots around the Antenna Beetle for the roar's duration, not too dissimilar to the ring of dots a leader's whistle makes. The ring the roar creates is capable of affecting Pikmin behavior, as any Pikmin within the purple ring will ignore a leader and their whistle and will instead follow the Antenna Beetle. While the Antenna Beetle doesn't intentionally try to harm Pikmin, its unpredictable movement means that the Pikmin could be brought into hazardous areas. If the Antenna Beetle leaps away, any affected Pikmin will lose interest in the creature, and become idle and again free to join a leader's squad. If an Antenna Beetle is killed while Pikmin are following it, the following Pikmin start to panic instead, at which point they also become susceptible to a leader's whistle.
An Antenna Beetle's presence affects the Treasure Gauge, causing the device's needle to move unpredictably (though still staying towards the gauge's left side) and the device to intermittedly emit quiet, distorted versions of the beeping sound it usually makes when near treasure. When an Antenna Beetle roars, the device's beeps briefly intensify in both volume and frequency, and the needle very quickly violently thrashes around, reaching all regions of the Treasure Gauge's gauge in the process.
If a leader goes too near an Antenna Beetle, the creature will leap away as soon as it can, although the creature will occasionally leap on its own if left undisturbed. If a Pikmin is thrown directly on an Antenna Beetle, it will fall on its back and fruitlessly thrash around for a few seconds before eventually finding its footing and leaping away, leaving any Pikmin on or near it to be knocked to the ground. Its leap sends the Antenna high into the air; high enough for it to only fall down after a few seconds. Its fall lands it somewhere within its territory and causes the Antenna Beetle to faceplant upon contact with the ground, before quickly getting back up and resuming normal behaviour.
- #34Lesser Spotted Jellyfloat
Keys: Lesser Spotted Jellyfloat, Jellyfloat
Scientific name Cephalus dottalium Family Jellyfloat They resemble large, blue, floating jellyfishes with yellow spots, that float through the air. They attack the Pikmin by inhaling them and trapping them inside. The Pikmin will then be digested over a considerably long period of time, specifically 1 Pikmin per 30 seconds, but can be saved by defeating it. These creatures are related to the Greater Spotted Jellyfloat.
It will float around aimlessly, until it notices prey, positioning itself on top and sucking the prey onto it
- #35Greater Spotted Jellyfloat
Keys: Greater Spotted Jellyfloat, Jellyfloat
Scientific name Cephalus vortexia Family Jellyfloat It is a member of the Jellyfloat family, and as its name implies, it is a larger, pinkish version of the Lesser Spotted Jellyfloat., they appear much more solid, looking similar to gelatin, and have much more visible segments, more consistent and dull spots, purple luminescent organs, and more subtle lines on the oral arms. This species is considerably more rare than its lesser counterpart, as according to the Piklopedia it is alien to the region, but its population is quickly displacing that of its smaller cousin. Greater Spotted Jellyfloats have slightly more health, fly slightly higher, and resist weight of more Pikmin before falling down, but can be defeated in the same manner. It can also suck up more Pikmin at once, and even leaders if the main leader is not careful.
- #36Fiery Dweevil
Keys: Fiery Dweevil, Dweevil
Scientific name Mandarachnia napalmens Family Dweevil Fiery Dweevils, like other Dweevils, like to pick up treasures, defeated enemy corpses and other objects so they can put them on their bodies. When there is something on their bodies, they can't be damaged by Pikmin or leaders until the carried object is knocked off. To take it off their bodies, just throw Pikmin on the Dweevil's body or punch it several times. This particular species of Dweevil, when agitated by attacks, will release searing flames that will set most Pikmin types on fire. This makes Red Pikmin, Bulbmin and Glow Pikmin the best choices in battle. However, since Purple Pikmin can stun any common Dweevil, they will also work well.
Fiery Dweevils scurry about randomly and take no note of the presence of any leader or Pikmin if left undisturbed. When provoked, a Dweevil will attempt to defend itself by releasing fire below itself. The fire will scatter any attacking Pikmin (excluding Red Pikmin, Bulbmin, and Glow Pikmin) and will kill them if they are not whistled back to a leader over a small period of time. Fiery Dweevils are frail creatures and will die quickly if attacked by even a few Pikmin, or by the punches from a leader.
When a treasure or a corpse of another creature is nearby, a Fiery Dweevil will lift it up onto its head and carry it, making it impossible for Pikmin to collect until it is broken free. When a Dweevil has an item in its possession, it will stay at rest, crouching down, appearing as if it is only the item, until it is approached by a leader or Pikmin, at which point it will stand up and run away.
- #37Anode Dweevil
Keys: Anode Dweevil, Dweevil
Scientific name Mandarachnia volticula Family Dweevil
It is a yellow dweevil that will emit an electrical discharge when agitated by attacks. it's electrical discharge will instantly kill any Pikmin that aren’t Yellow Pikmin or Bulbmin, without a chance to save them, thus making it one of the most dangerous Dweevils.
Anode Dweevils will wander around the area, looking for any objects (treasures, castaways, raw materials, enemy corpses) to pick up. They are largely passive to Pikmin and will generally run away from them and leaders, only attacking in self-defense. When provoked, the Dweevil will attempt to defend itself by releasing lethal electricity below it.
When an object is nearby, the Anode Dweevil will lift it up onto its head and carry it, making it impossible for Pikmin to collect until it is broken free. When a Dweevil has an item in its possession, it will stay at rest, crouching down, appearing as if it is only the item, until it is approached by a leader or Pikmin, at which point it will stand up and run away.
- #38Hydro Dweevil
Keys: Hydro Dweevil, Dweevil
Scientific name Mandarachnia aquadis Family Dweevil they like any other dweevil, but blue Hydro Dweevils scurry about randomly and take no note of the presence of any leader or Pikmin if left undisturbed. When provoked one will attempt to defend itself by releasing a pressurized spurt of water below it. Hydro Dweevils are frail creatures and will die quickly if attacked by even a few Pikmin, or by the punches from a leader.
When a treasure or a corpse of another creature is nearby, a Hydro Dweevil will lift it up onto its head and carry it, making it impossible for Pikmin to collect until it is broken free. When a Dweevil has an item in its possession, it will stay at rest, crouching down, appearing as if it is only the item, until it is approached by a leader or Pikmin, at which point it will stand up and run away.
- #39Volatile Dweevil
Keys: Volatile Dweevil, Dweevil
Scientific name Mandarachnia explodus Family Dweevil At first glance, Volatile Dweevils appear to be bomb-rocks with legs, but are actually Dweevils that have picked up bomb-rocks, much like how other members of the Dweevil family pick up treasures and corpses. Unlike other members of that family, Volatile Dweevils are known to only carry bomb-rocks and are never seen without one.
Volatile Dweevils are more-so hazards than traditional enemies. They can unexpectedly drop from the ceiling and are often found falling near treasures, making them a big threat towards any Pikmin attempting to retrieve the treasure. Once near enough to a leader or Pikmin, it will begin to pursue them.
After a few uninterrupted seconds of chasing its target, the bomb-rock on its back will activate and begin a countdown until it explodes. The countdown can triggered early by attacking the creature, most reliably triggered via a punch. Once the bomb-rock explodes, the Dweevil will die, leaving behind no corpse. Any Pikmin caught within the explosion's radius will also be killed. Additionally, if the Dweevil ends up near any other enemies, the explosion will deal great damage to them. The explosion is capable of killing smaller creatures in one blow, like Dwarf Bulborbs.
If the Volatile Dweevil's target escapes its range of interest, then it will switch it target to the next closest leader or Pikmin. If no targets are nearby the Volatile Dweevil, it will go into a dormant state, lowering its head to the ground. At this point, it looks similar to a bomb-rock, though with the differences of it wobbling in place, and its thin legs still being visible. The creature will only get back up when approached once again by a leader or Pikmin.
- #40Toady Bloyster
Keys: Toady Bloyster, Bloyster
Scientific name Molluschid minionicus Family Mollusking They have large, slug-like, purple-colored bodies, and flower-like protrusions on their rears. They possess 7 tentacle-like tongues It has a pair of eyes that are set on its body Toady Bloysters creep along the ground in search of food, and upon discovering Pikmin, they emit a loud call reminiscent to that of a cow calf, then lash out their tentacle-like tongue. Any Pikmin hit by the tongue stick and are ingested if the Bloyster is not killed before it can finish "chewing." As slow as they may be, Bloysters are capable of causing a very large and sudden drop in the number of Pikmin a leader has at their disposal, should the player be careless enough to allow them the chance.
If the Bloyster is receiving hard damage, t shakes its tail and throws away any Pikmin hanging on to it pikmins cannot latch to its pink body
- #41Yellow Wollyhop
Keys: Yellow Wollyhop, Wollyhop
Scientific name Amphicaris frondiferorum Family Amphituber Yellow Wollyhops are large, round, yellow creatures with large eyes and beady pupils, and short front legs with larger hind legs. Their skin is tinted green towards the top of their heads, with green spots along the sides. They can usually be found in or around large, open-air bodies of water, but also in moist, rainy areas.
They are known to leap into the air, floating temporarily, and dropping, with the intent of landing on and crushing small Pikmin below, a behavior which is most readily explained as an attempt to drive predators away from developing eggs. Frequently found in or near a body of water, Yellow Wollyhops are moderately sturdy creatures. Generally passive, they will only attack by leaping into the air if a leader or Pikmin comes nearby. Once on the attack, a Yellow Wollyhop will likely not pursue if its target is on the move, rather it will return to its general starting location in short hops. Their attacks are sometimes sudden, and they can shake all attacking Pikmin from their bodies. Upon falling, a Yellow Wollyhop's attack covers a considerable radius, killing all Pikmin within it. Even if a Yellow Wollyhop is defeated as it is about to fall, any Pikmin caught beneath it will still be killed. Such an attack can be prevented if the Wollyhop is weighed down with at least 10 or so Pikmin.
- #42Wollyhop
Keys: Wollyhop
Scientific name Amphicaris albino Family Amphituber
As an adaptation to environments with little or no sunlight, Wollyhops have lost most of their skin pigmentation, giving them an albino-like appearance.
Like the Yellow Wollyhop, the Wollyhop is also a large creature with large eyes and beady pupils, with short front legs and larger hind legs. However, unlike the Yellow Wollyhop, their albino body is much more flatter, their eyes are crimson in color, and instead of having a few spots along its side, it has multiple smaller ones across its backside. The tips of the Wollyhop's toes are also white, matching their body. Additionally, the Wollyhop has a small tail, something the Yellow Wollyhop lacks. Frequently found in or near a body of water, Wollyhops are slow and stocky creatures. Generally passive, they will only attack by leaping into the air if a leader or Pikmin comes nearby. Once on the attack, a Wollyhop will likely not pursue if its target is on the move, rather it will return to its general starting location in short hops. Their attacks are sometimes sudden, and they can shake all attacking Pikmin from their bodies. Upon falling, a Wollyhop's attack covers a considerable radius, killing all Pikmin within it. Even if a Wollyhop is defeated as it is about to fall, any Pikmin caught beneath it will still be killed. Such an attack can be prevented if the Wollyhop is weighed down with multiple Pikmin; they can be quite stubborn in the later games.
Compared to their counterparts, the Yellow Wollyhops, Wollyhops jump with less vertical movement, but greater horizontal movement. If a Wollyhop manages to land on another enemy, including another Wollyhop, the Wollyhop capable of crushing it
- #43Wolpole
Keys: Wolpole
Scientific name Amphicaris frondiferorum Family Amphituber is a harmless enemy in the Pikmin games. Wolpoles resemble tadpoles in appearance, and are the larval form of the frog-like Yellow Wollyhops. hey are typically a hard-to-get, low-reward enemy in that they are fast swimmers which produce only one Pikmin seed when carried to the Onion. while being chased Wolpoles may sometimes accidentally beach themselves, flopping about helplessly until they hop back into water. They may also drop from the ceiling, usually on a dry spot
- #44Creeping Chrysanthemum
Keys: Creeping Chrysanthemum
Scientific name Taraxacum rovinia Family Chrysanthemum When dormant, Creeping Chrysanthemums greatly resemble large flowers used for level scenery. When Pikmin or the leaders get close, they will spring out of the ground, revealing their root-legs and their bulbous bodies.
they resemble Margarets when dormant, but they can be told apart from the normal flowers, as they have one fewer flower, no leaves on their "stems", slightly visible patterns on their stem, and their large flowers have the Chrysanthemum's eyes visible. They have large red mouths that emerge from their tallest flowers. They move moderately slowly, and will return to their original spots if left alone for a while. They replant themselves by standing above the spot where they originally came and sucking themselves into the ground until only the "flowers" remain.
Once the Creeping Chrysanthemum emerges from the ground, it will attempt to attack any Pikmin or leaders, it does this by swinging down its large, red mouth to hopefully capture any Pikmin. The mouth acts like a carnivorous plant, as it attempts to snap shut on unsuspecting victims. If it succeeds in its attacks, Pikmin will be consumed quickly. However, if the Creeping Chrysanthemum fails or misses its attack, it will instead slam its mouth into its own body, causing it to fall onto its back. The Chrysanthemum will then struggle to right itself for some time, shuffling left to right before it stands up once more.
- #45Skitter Leaf
Keys: Skitter Leaf
Scientific name Rus pseudoarbicans Family Skitterling It resembles a leaf. Skitter Leaves remain camouflaged on the ground until approached by leaders or Pikmin, at which time they attempt to flee with a cricket-like chirp. They are somewhat rare, usually located in very fresh places, such as near or in water or foliage, but they are not worth defeating or recovering. This is because the leaf they leave upon death, while only requiring one Pikmin to carry, yields only a single Pikmin seed The Skitter Leaf, when it is hiding, looks like a small leaf on the ground, making it seem like it's part of the scenery. When approached, however, it will leap up, revealing feet with a similar pattern to the leaf on its back, and bulgy red eyes. What the stem would be on a leaf is actually the Skitter Leaf's mouth, and due to its small, tube-like appearance, one can conclude that the Skitter Leaf mainly feeds on plant juices. The main "leaf" acts as a cape, which the Skitter Leaf uses to fend itself from predation by flipping in the air and whipping it around. Upon flipping, the creature will also reveal a rounded, yellow abdomen.
- #46Unmarked Spectralids
Keys: Unmarked Spectralis, Spectralis
Scientific name Fenestari prismatus Family Flitterbie They resemble small butterflies and can be red, purple, or yellow. They are one of the harmless enemies having no means of attack and doing nothing but fluttering around. They are located in specific patches of plants and appear upon being disturbed, though in some caves they are readily visible. They will leave the area's boundaries some time after Pikmin and leaders come within range of a swarm of them. Their wing color indicates what they drop when killed - a drop of ultra-spicy spray (red), ultra-bitter spray (purple) or nectar (yellow). Underground, they only have a 20% chance of dropping these rewards. These creatures instantly collapse and die if touched by a single Pikmin.
- #47Honeywisp
Keys: Honeywisp
Scientific name Nektara fatuus Family Honeywisp Honeywisps float across the air carrying nectar or an egg, and tend to glow and make high pitched cries, appearing and disappearing out of thin air if a leader passes nearby set places where they can show. A Honeywisp's egg, like any other, may contain nectar, a spray drop, or Mitites. The Honeywisp is a constantly airborne enemy. As such, it can only be killed with Pikmin. If a Pikmin is thrown at one, it will vanish and drop its nectar. Yellow Pikmin are your best option due to their high throwing arc. When trying to take down a Honeywisp or a group of Honeywisps, its usually fine to throw quickly with less precision to take them down, as there is no risk in fighting them unless other creatures are nearby.
Neither White nor Purple Pikmin are especially effective against this creature
- #48Mamuta
Keys: Mamuta
Scientific name Hortulanus asymmetria Family Unknown It is fairly large and has two small eyes with indents around each one. Its body is notably asymmetrical with large, muscular arms that have strange markings around the wrists, and it is covered in light gray fur. if any harm comes to it, however, it becomes enraged and retaliates, before quickly returning to is previously docile nature despite being initially so gentle that Unmarked Spectralids can land on them, Mamuta become aggressive when approached These creatures attack by pounding Pikmin into the ground. This doesn't kill them, but instead buried them in the ground, turning them back into sprouts and fully flowering them in the process. This can be used to one's advantage, though it can get very annoying when it comes to plucking the Pikmin if one is in a hurry. a Mamuta can do more good than bad, as the planted Pikmin can simply be called out of the ground. Leaders, as opposed to Pikmin, do take damage from Mamuta attacks. hey are motionless – they are so still that Unmarked Spectralids will land on them, if there are any nearby. Once a leader or Pikmin approaches however, it will enter an aggressive state, and any Unmarked Spectralids on it will fly off. Unlike in Pikmin, a Mamuta in this game will not rest after attacking. If nothing is in its range after it has been alerted, it will tend to wander for awhile before becoming motionless again. Exclusively in this game, a Mamuta's attack will knock off any Pikmin latched onto its body, allowing for the creature to far more easily combo Pikmin attacking it into getting buried.
- #49Breadbug
Keys: Breadbug
Scientific name Pansarus gluttonae Family Breadbug Breadbugs resemble bread rolls, and are the namesake of the Breadbug family. They can't harm leaders or Pikmin directly, but can drag objects into their nests, making them harder for the player to retrieve. Breadbugs are typically found in underground areas. Breadbugs typically walk freely around the area, ignoring Pikmin and other creatures. If they come across something they can carry, they will begin heading straight towards it. If they reach it, they will begin to drag it along the ground, slowly walking backwards. They will not target objects that Pikmin are carrying each Breadbug has a nest from which it emerges at the beginning of the day or the sublevel, and this nest is the location that it drags objects to. When it reaches the nest, it will go inside with the object, and then emerge to start walking around again.
- #50Empress Bulblax
Keys: Empress Bulblax, Empress Bulborb
Scientific name Oculus matriarcha Family Grub-dog Its markings and general features are similar to those of the Bulborb, but its body is much larger and composed of five distinct segments; the comparatively tiny legs dangle above the ground. When encountered in the Hole of Heroes or Kingdom of Beasts, the Empress Bulblax will be asleep. It will be curled up into a compact position, comparable to how a dog sometimes sleeps. While asleep, it will be completely oblivious to the player's presence, offering the perfect chance for a sneak attack. In the Frontier Cavern or the Cradle of the Beast (as well as the Emperor's Realm), the Empress Bulblax will be awake and will actively be birthing Bulborb Larvae. When awake, it lays forward, exposing its full form. The Bulblax will birth several Bulborb Larvae, which can quickly overwhelm players if not handled carefully. In the Hole of Heroes and the Cavern for a King, it behaves the same but with an added danger: every time the Empress rolls itself into a wall, boulders will fall from the sky, potentially crushing non-Rock Pikmin. Though in the Cavern for a King, it will not be birthing any Bulborb Larvae – it will just be lying there.
If the Empress Bulblax is being swarmed by multiple Pikmin, it reacts violently to shake them off. Initially, the Bulblax raises its body from its half-lying state into the air before violently swinging its raised half from left to right. This action is intended to knock off the attackers and clear the area around itself. After it does this, the Empress will then lie back down before rolling to one side of the room, crashing itself against the wall. It will then roll itself to the other side of the room, crashing into the other wall. After doing this once or twice, it will return to the middle of the room and it will return to its idle-like state – either birthing Bulborb Larvae or simply lying still.
