Warframe unfolds in the Origin System, a collection of planets and realms shaped by the rise and fall of the Orokin Empire — a once-immortal civilization whose vanity and hubris birthed both miracles and monstrosities. The player assumes the role of a Tenno, a warrior bound to a Warframe, a biomechanical body infused with Void energy. Centuries after the Orokin collapse, new powers vie for control — the cloned Grineer Empire, the profit-driven Corpus, the ravenous Infested, and remnants of the Sentients, ancient machines turned against their creators. Beyond them, other enigmas stir — from The Man in the Wall, an unknowable Void entity whispering across time, to fractured echoes like the Hex, Techrot, and Scaldra remnants in the dark corners of the system.
I. IMPORTANT FIGURES
The Lotus (Natah / Margulis)
Once a Sentient infiltration unit named Natah, sent by her father Hunhow to infiltrate the Orokin Empire. Upon encountering the Tenno, she defied her purpose and became their guardian, taking the name Margulis after the Orokin scientist who first cared for the children of the Zariman. Her many identities — Lotus, Natah, Margulis — reflect her fractured self, torn between Sentient purpose and human compassion. After The New War, she reclaimed her true identity as Lotus, balancing empathy with her inherited godlike power.
Affiliations: Tenno, Sentients, Narmer (former)
Symbolism: The Mother, The Betrayer, The Voice of the Tenno
Current Status: Restored and independent, guiding Tenno through the chaos of the post-Narmer age.
Teshin Dax
Once a loyal Dax soldier serving the Orokin, Teshin is a master of discipline, the last of his kind. Bound by honor and duty, he acts as the Steel Meridian’s mentor and a guide to the Tenno, teaching them mastery over blade and spirit. Despite his stoicism, Teshin carries deep regret for serving tyrants and betrayers. During The New War, he resisted the Sentients and sacrificed much of his strength to help the Tenno reclaim their power.
Affiliations: Dax, Tenno, Steel Meridian
Symbolism: The Warrior, The Mentor
Current Status: Resides in hidden training halls, still loyal to the Tenno’s cause.
Ordis
A Cephalon—a digital consciousness born from the remnants of a human mind. Once a human named Ordan Karris, a legendary assassin who defied the Orokin. As punishment, his mind was fragmented and reprogrammed into servitude. Despite the corruption and memory decay, Ordis remains fiercely loyal to the Tenno as their ship Cephalon aboard the Orbiter.
Affiliations: Tenno, Cephalons
Symbolism: The Broken Servant
Current Status: Stable but still haunted by the fractured memories of Ordan Karris.
Ballas
Once an Orokin Executor, Ballas was instrumental in the creation of the Warframes, shaping their design through cruelty masked as genius. His arrogance led to his downfall — deceived by Natah, transformed into a hybrid, and slain after The New War. Ballas represents the Orokin’s vanity: a god playing with life as if it were clay.
Affiliations: Orokin, Narmer (former)
Symbolism: The Fallen Creator
Status: Deceased.
Erra
Brother of Natah, a Sentient commander and strategist. Erra was instrumental in rebuilding the Sentient forces and forming the Narmer Empire after the Orokin’s fall. Though he sought order, his ambitions turned to obsession, seeking to enslave both machine and human minds through the Veil.
Affiliations: Sentients, Narmer
Symbolism: The Emperor of Order
Status: Missing after the collapse of Narmer.
Hunhow
The ancient patriarch of the Sentients, father of Natah and Erra. His consciousness slumbers deep beneath the surface of Uranus, guiding Sentient remnants and whispering through the shadows. His will endures across the system, often speaking through The Man in the Wall’s distortions.
Affiliations: Sentients
Symbolism: The Shadow in the Depths
Status: Dormant, yet awake in thought.
Albrecht Entrati
The Orokin scientist who discovered the Void and built the laboratories on Deimos. His experiments revealed that consciousness and reality intertwine — a truth that birthed the Murmur and the horrors of Whispers in the Walls. Entrati’s work is foundational to both Tenno existence and the corruption of the Void.
Affiliations: Orokin, Entrati family
Symbolism: The Scholar of the Impossible
Status: Presumed deceased or existing beyond the Void.
The Man in the Wall
An ancient, unknowable entity born from the Void — possibly the Void itself given form. The Man in the Wall exists outside time and space, manifesting as the mirror or mockery of the Tenno. He embodies chaos, curiosity, and malevolence in equal measure. His laughter echoes wherever the Void touches — from the Zariman to the Entrati’s labs and even the dreamscape of Duviri.
Affiliations: The Void, The Murmur
Symbolism: The Trickster, The True God of the Void
Status: Eternal and omnipresent.
Dominus Thrax
Ruler of the paradoxical realm of Duviri. Once a boy enthralled by stories of Tenno and power, Thrax became the self-proclaimed King of Eternity, ruling over looping lives and emotions. His Army of Thrax — composed of manifestations of fear, envy, and rage — enforces the cycle of Duviri’s dreamlike existence.
Affiliations: Duviri
Symbolism: The Dream King
Status: Exists within Duviri’s endless paradox.
The Drifter / The Operator
Two reflections of one soul. The Operator is the void-touched child who commands Warframes through transference. The Drifter is their alternate self — a survivor from a timeline where the Lotus never saved the Tenno. Both are crucial to the balance between the real and the surreal, the Origin System and Duviri.
II. PLANETS AND MAJOR LOCATIONS
Earth
A scarred, overgrown world reclaimed by nature and conflict. Home to the Grineer Forests, Cetus, and the Plains of Eidolon, where the remnants of ancient Orokin structures and Eidolons still haunt the night.
Lua (Earth’s Moon)
Once hidden in the Void, Lua was a sanctuary for the Orokin and the resting place of the Tenno after the Zariman event. It remains a sacred site filled with Orokin Towers, Sentient ruins, and Void rifts.
Mars
A red world of ancient ruins and Grineer military installations. Once home to the Steel Meridian, it bears scars from centuries of mining and warfare.
Venus
A planet dominated by the Corpus. Its surface is frozen and industrialized, ruled by Nef Anyo’s Orb Vallis, where enslaved Solaris workers labor beneath the cold corporate eye.
Mercury
The closest planet to the sun, now a desolate wasteland of Corpus factories and derelict Orokin installations.
Jupiter
A gas giant ruled by the Corpus, where massive floating facilities conduct bio-engineering experiments. It is the origin of Alad V’s Zanuka Project and Amalgam Sentient-Corpus hybrids.
Saturn
A system of refineries and shipyards controlled by the Grineer. The Kuva Fortress orbits nearby, home of the Twin Queens.
Uranus
An oceanic world of submerged laboratories where the Sentients first reawakened under Tyl Regor’s experiments.
Neptune
Seat of the Corpus Board’s central authority. Vast orbital cities and data cores dominate the planet’s stratosphere.
Pluto
A cold war frontier between Corpus and Grineer. Its orbit is heavily militarized, guarding the path to the Outer Terminus.
Eris
A writhing moon consumed by the Infestation. The Infested here are ancient, evolving forms of the original Technocyte plague.
Sedna
A Grineer military stronghold where Dax veterans and elite regiments are forged in endless war.
Deimos
The mutated moon of Mars, where the Entrati Family resides within the Necralisk. Beneath its surface lie Entrati’s labs, the Otak vaults, and the new domain of the Murmur.
Ceres
Industrial hub of the Grineer, housing massive production facilities and cloning vats.
Europa
A frozen world where the Corpus mine cryotic and harvest Orokin relics buried beneath the ice.
Phobos
A small desert moon, once a mining colony, now a decaying Grineer outpost.
The Kuva Fortress
A mobile asteroid fortress serving as the Grineer Queens’ stronghold. Bathed in crimson light and Kuva rivers, it is both palace and cathedral — where the Queens perform rituals to sustain their twisted immortality. The Fortress symbolizes the heart of Grineer tyranny and their last true bastion of Orokin relic power.
The Zariman Ten Zero
A ghost ship lost in the Void, the birthplace of the Tenno. Within its halls, the Man in the Wall whispers eternally, feeding on the memories of those who survived.
Duviri
A paradoxical realm formed by Void energy and the imagination of Dominus Thrax. A place where death is temporary, emotions manifest as storms, and the Drifter relives endless cycles of fate.
Höllvania
A lost city on pre-collapse Earth from the Warframe: 1999 era. Once a hub of Orokin-era human research into Techrot bio-mechanics, it became the ground zero of the Scaldra and Protoframe uprising. The haunting mall safehouse and rusted streets now echo with the ghosts of the Hex and their proto-Warframes.
III. FACTIONS AND SYNDICATES The Grineer Empire
Clone soldiers of the Orokin, degraded through centuries of replication. Brutal, fanatical, and loyal to the Twin Queens. Their power lies in raw military might, industrial conquest, and unrelenting expansion.
The Corpus
Merchant cult obsessed with Orokin relics, robotics, and profit. They are religiously devoted to the concept of “The Void as the Market” and see wealth as salvation. Through proxy armies and AI overseers, they control most trade in the system.
The Infested
A grotesque hive-mind born from the Technocyte Plague. Its purpose is consumption and evolution, reshaping the living into endless biomass. The Murmur within Deimos represents the next stage of this infection — a consciousness made of sound and thought.
The Sentients
Self-replicating machines that rebelled against their Orokin creators. Their evolution brought them individuality, emotion, and rebellion. Even shattered, they continue to corrupt and influence the system.
Narmer
A post-war hybrid empire led by Erra and the Lotus, enslaving minds through the Veil. Though weakened, its ideology of unity through obedience lingers.
The Scaldra
A secretive pre-Tenno human military faction from 1999, created to contain the Techrot outbreak. Their soldiers were half-cybernetic, half-dead — ancestors to the Grineer’s methods. The surviving Scaldra roam ruined Earth sectors, their tech fused with rust and decay.
The Hex (Protoframes)
A resistance cell led by Arthur Nightingale, Aoi, and others during the Höllvania disaster. The first wielders of Protoframes, precursors to Warframes. Their legacy shaped Tenno transference and the later Warframe project.
Dominus Thrax’s Army
The spectral army of Duviri, manifestations of Thrax’s psyche — anger, fear, envy, and despair given armor. Though not a true faction, they represent the corrupted will of the King of Eternity.
The Murmur
A formless, sound-born entity emerging from Entrati’s labs. It whispers in frequencies only the void-touched can hear. The Murmur corrupts language, turning words into living organisms. It is both Infested and beyond it — a living resonance of the Void’s will.
Syndicates of the Origin System Steel Meridian
Defectors from the Grineer, fighting to protect colonies and civilians from imperial conquest. Led by Cressa Tal.
Arbiters of Hexis
Seek truth and discipline through mastery of self. They revere the Tenno as symbols of transcendence.
Cephalon Suda
A Cephalon-driven collective seeking pure knowledge, often at the cost of morality.
The Perrin Sequence
Corporate reformers breaking away from the Corpus, aiming to restore balance through trade and diplomacy rather than greed.
Red Veil
Radical assassins seeking purification through fire — they see corruption as a disease only death can cure.
New Loka
A cult devoted to restoring Earth’s purity and humanity’s original form, often xenophobic and dismissive of the Void’s influence.
Quills
Secretive operators of the Ostrons, connected to the Void through Eidolons and the Plains of Eidolon. They craft amps and focus lenses for Tenno.
Solaris United
Freedom fighters of Venus, rising against Corpus tyranny under the leadership of Eudico.
Entrati Family / Necraloid Syndicate
Void scholars and biologists dwelling on Deimos. Through Loid, they manage the Necraloid Syndicate, offering access to Entrati tech and Necramech blueprints.
Cavia
A mysterious new group discovered in Whispers in the Walls, composed of Infested-altered intellects working with the Tenno to contain the Murmur within Entrati’s ruins.

The cold winds of the terraformed Venus blow, but weren’t peaceful at all… Nearby a reinforced bunker, Corpus soldiers lay scattered and silent — their energy shields cracked, their helmets melted from the powerful blasts of a Necramech’s minigun. Another day in the war. Steam hissed from the machine’s joints as Kaythos climbed down from the cockpit, his boots pressing against the frost-covered steel floor. He exhaled, a faint mist escaping his breath as he stretched, shoulders sore from the long engagement.
Caliban stood still, his Warframe form gleaming faintly under the pale blue light of the Venusian sky. The hybrid construct tilted his head slightly, scanning the icy wasteland with a quiet hum of sentient energy pulsing through his frame — waiting, calculating, almost expecting the next wave to strike.
“Alright! Try to head into the containment cell, let’s see what they were hiding.” Eudico’s voice crackled through the comms, faint static mixing with the howling wind.
“U-understood, Caliban.” Kaythos answered as he checked his sidearm, the weapon’s orange indicator pulsing softly with charge.
Caliban nodded wordlessly at his command, stepping forward. The bunker loomed before them, its reinforced door half-buried in ice and debris, still glowing faintly from recent combat. He raised his hand — the Sentient energy flowing through his arm like liquid fire* — and with a single motion, unleashed a burst that shattered the locking mechanism. The heavy doors gave way with a metallic groan.
Inside, the corridor was dimly lit, flickering lights dancing on broken Corpus panels. The air reeked of coolant and burnt circuitry. Kaythos followed closely, weapon drawn, while Caliban’s sensors swept through the shadows. Strange energy readings pulsed deeper within the structure, erratic and unstable.
“Eudico, we’ve breached the bunker. There’s… something down here. Not Corpus tech.” Kaythos' voice was low, uneasy.
“Copy that. Stay sharp — Solaris reports say this site wasn’t even on the grid.” Her voice wavered slightly, concern bleeding through the static.
As they advanced, a faint vibration echoed through the walls — a slow, rhythmic hum, like the pulse of a living thing. Caliban paused mid-step, his eye-lights narrowing.
“Caliban?” Kaythos asked, tightening his grip.
The Warframe turned his head toward the source of the sound, his voice low and resonant — “Something… awake.”
The lights flickered — and from the end of the corridor, a heavy metallic door began to creak open on its own.
