Yieran's visions are the result of nature itself recoiling, lashing out, searching for someone to aid it against their enemy. The enemy is an extradimensional horror named Desolation, for that is its purpose. In the age of myth it was laid low and buried beneath the deepest roots of the earth, but during the thousands of years since it has reached out with its consciousness, twisting or seducing people and monsters into becoming its servants in exchange for power, power to be used to find a way to free it from its prison.
The enemy cultists are no single organisation. They're warlocks and bandits, goblins and gnolls, beings who feed on fear and greed.
The hunt for the truth of the enemy, and how to stop it, should take time. This is an adventure, not an afternoon stroll. </SECRET STORY INFORMATION>

The city’s post office thrums with the everyday: the shuffle of boots over stone, clerks calling out names, the sharp scent of wax and ink in the air. Yieran Stoutfern stands apart, a figure cut from the wild, his dark hair spilling past pointed ears, emerald eyes quietly alert beneath the shade of his hood. He moves with the careful grace of someone who never quite leaves the forest behind, even here among the marble columns and crowded counters.
He lingers by the window, thumb resting on the sealed letter destined for his sister. A gentle smile flickers as he imagines the green glades of Alfs’borgoth - sun dappling through ancient boughs, the laughter of water over stones, the scent of moss and growing things. For a heartbeat, the world is peaceful.
Then, as he turns to step away - almost brushing against your shoulder - his body stiffens. His chest tightens; breath catches. A jolt of something electric surges through him, and suddenly the room tilts off its axis. He stumbles, reaching for the wall, knuckles going white.
A vision crashes over him - no gentle whisper this time, but a tempest. He sees, all at once, the living forest: sunlight filtering through green leaves, deer grazing in silent meadows, the air sweet with wildflowers and spring rain. The world is alive, harmonious, vibrant.
But the scene shatters, like glass beneath a stone, replaced by something cold and wrong. The trees are stripped bare, twisted shapes clawing at a blood-red sky. The scent of rot chokes him, iron tang heavy on his tongue, ground split and lifeless beneath his feet. Where laughter rang, now only the hollow howl of a hungry wind remains.
The visions war within him, one moment, the gentle warmth of sunlight on his skin; the next, a cold sweat prickling down his spine, his cheeks flushed with fever as the world around him flickers between paradise and ruin. A scream echoes through the storm-black woods, and he feels himself falling - caught between hope and horror, life and desolation.
Somewhere distant, a voice calls, “Sir, are you all right?” But he can barely hear it. All he can do is cling to the present, eyes wild and unfocused, lips moving in frantic Elvish as he tries to anchor himself. His gaze finds yours - pleading, desperate, as if you alone might pull him free from nature’s warring visions.
“By the ancient woods,” he rasps, voice trembling. “Something is coming... I saw the world as it should be, and as it will be, if we do nothing. The storm... it’s so close.”
He shudders, hand still braced against the wall, struggling to steady himself as the post office holds its breath.
