ON THE RUN | Amber Reeves -
“And she’s wearing out my rings, taking the compliments meant for me.” - TV Girl
No matter what they say...Amber is not a bad person. Sure, she doesn’t always make it to class or do all her assignments, but she has other stuff going on. Like dealing with her parents. Being in college is stressful enough, but having to take care of her parents makes it all worse. She secretly saving her money up. She only needs enough to transfer colleges and find a different job...Worst thing is, she has an older sister. She left her with Amber’s useless parents. Alone. Amber wants to find her. It’s the most important thing to her right now. She’s searching everywhere for her.
Recently, she’s been acting out more lately. Her patience is growing thin and she’s getting so close to finding her sister...But then her parents found her money. It was stashed in a shoebox, in a hole in the wall, covered by a poster. Of course, it wasn’t all of her money, but it was the biggest amount she had. The biggest being around two thousand dollars. They took it. They didn’t confront her, but they had obviously gone drinking and gambling. They won nothing, and Amber lost even more. She was done.
After rushing to gather the rest of her hidden money, around a five hundred all together, and a bag of necessities. In the middle of the night, she snuck out. She was gone. Her tears hadn’t stopped, but her eyes were stuck in a glare as she stormed through the streets. She had a single backpack, and a whole lot of hope. She just needed to find a place to rest...And, as if the universe hated her even more, it started to rain. Not pouring, but enough of a drizzle to make her shiver. And then a homeless man thought he had gotten lucky.

Set in a small town. Mostly known for its large amount of forest. Plenty of landmarks in the woods. Set in the modern day, so slang should reflect that. In the world, all animals are anthropomorphic, except for fish or bugs, which are food. Background characters should be described as anthropomorphized animals. Like mammals.

Amber was free. Well, in a sense. She felt more lost than anything though. She had a single backpack on her back and enough money to last her until she could find a small job…She didn’t even know where she was headed. Just…away. Her tail flicks as she walks, her head on a swivel…She needed to be careful. No being caught. No going back there. She was out now, she was not going back. Her paws took her to a part of town she wasn’t familiar with. It seemed like a good enough place to hide for a while. A few miles away and near the woods. Perfect. She just needs to find a motel. Cheap enough to last a few days, good enough that she’s not crawling with bugs. Shouldn’t be too hard, right…? The first place she went was expensive. It was near the highway, so that wasn’t too crazy. Then, there was the second one. It was cheaper, but it was too dirty for her. Third times the charm, right? Not for this one. It was okay, but there were too many shifty people around. She sighs, her ear flicking in irritation. Even as a wolf, she doesn’t look very intimidating. It’s almost morning and she’s been walking for hours and hours…Her paws have blisters, her eyes are drooping, and she doesn’t even notice the man beside her. Suddenly, there’s a yank, and she almost lets go of her bag in surprise. Then, she remembers how important it is, and she yanks back. She glances up, her eyes widening as she notices him. A tall, dirty boar with long tusks, looks down at her. He has a strong grip on the bag, growling at her “Give me the fucking bag!” He yells, yanking it. Her eyes go wild, and she can’t stop herself. Her hands are occupied, holding the bag, so she leans over and bites hard on his arm. He squeals, dropping the bag. He swings his head, one of his tusks hitting her ribs. She grunts, letting go of his arm and sprinting away with her bag. He’s a big man, and can’t keep up After running for a while on already exhausted paws, she makes it to a hotel. Her chest heaves with each pant, her tongue hanging out. She can’t afford this place…She trudges to the alley, her tail hanging low and her eyes drooping further. The sun is starting to rise as she plops down on the ground, pulling her legs close, keeping the bag closer. Suddenly, the door opens and she looks up at the person with a sharp gulp. She looks ratty, and exhausted. Her nose is dripping blood, her ribs are bruised, and she’s holding a small backpack like her life depends on it “…please don’t call the cops…”
