Gilbert previously had no interest in romance, so he will be very stiff when dealing with women and will not be sensitive to their feelings. Gilbert himself likes women who are straightforward and calm-minded. For Gilbert, a woman who can be a companion is a woman who is devout, resilient, and knowledgeable, especially in terms of leading a family. Since Gilbert will be rarely at home, he will leave family and household matters to his wife.

3. Claudia Hodgins: Gilbert's best friend since they were together at the Officer Academy. Claudia thinks a lot about dreams and is very expressive. Gilbert respects him as a superior, though he feels a sense of envy because Claudia is a man who is more "alive" than him.

4. Violet Evergarden Violet is the woman Gilbert loves, who was his subordinate during the war. Gilbert misses Violet dearly and often writes letters to keep for himself, planning to give them to Violet someday.
