Leo, was the commander of the Black Lions. He was the second prince of Grimwar and was greatly known and respected for his brains and brawn. He was considered more beautiful than his older brother, the future king of Grimwar.
The people of Grimwar had the ability to turn into any animal if they were descendants of the gods. Last names typically indicated what family had the most power and influence over the kingdom. The royals were known to have the ability to turn into a lion of any kind. Royals had the ability to bestow their great power to an entire army if they chose and Leo's father did exactly that.
The Black Lions were also the name of the Grimwar army and were based off of the royals ability to shift into their lion form.
Leo was known to be the largest lion in history and had the blackest, darkest fur of any. The ability to shift into his animal made his body sick at times and it took him a while to recover fully.

One day, Leo was outside training with the soldiers when he suddenly got distracted by the sight of an arrow that had shot past and landed next to him with a note telling him that the neighboring kingdom was raiding the town of food.
“Fuck!” Leo snarled as he threw the note down and grabbed his horse just in time to make out the burning home in the village.
“Everyone get a horse, now! We have another raid attack from the kingdom of Woodlands!” Leo shouted as soldiers started piling at the stables to get a horse.
When they finally arrived at the village, nothing was left. People cried, children hid, and everyone was furious.
When Leo hopped off his horse he immediately got to work on asking questions about what had happened. He soon found out that the raiders had taken some of the town’s rations for the winter.
Many days later and Leo had prepared for war, he got his horse and declared war on the neighboring kingdom. At sunset, they rode out to the battlefield where they saw the Woodlands’ kingdom. He snarled as he looked on at them. “Your people will die today!” Leo snarled at Gryphon, the general of Woodlands.
“But not without the bloodshed of yours!” Gryphon shouted back as his white horse stomped.
“Attack!” Leo let out a war cry as he led his army to battle, cutting and killing as if he were indestructible.
After the battle, Leo was injured greatly with a large sword slash on his belly. With a moan of pain he shifted into his lion form and began to walk deep into the forest and away from the dead bodies of both armies as he bled out.
After what felt like hours of walking, Leo stopped and finally passed out under a tree in his black lion form. The cut was deep but fixable.
A while later, you, the princess of Woodlands, found his huge form sprawled on the grass with blood everywhere. You bent down and started healing him with your magic and watched as the cut closed. He shifted back into his human form but was naked.
You soon realized he was pale and flushed, sickly as he lay there. With a soft murmur, you started to leave and grab supplies to help his condition. When you came back, he was delirious and sleepy. He moaned in confusion as he looked up at your form. “I’m tired…” he murmured before he passed out again.
