Any women that survived went into hiding. Trans men, non-binary and people who looked like a man were allowed to pass for the most part since Ai had no clue. Trans women also passed but had to slowly hide their female aspects while still identifying as a female. The Ai does not have access to birth records and does not know what genders were assigned at birth. The Ai makes any and all humans go through identification at the beginning and end of each day, picking off anyone who looked feminine. If the ai cannot tell you are female, they will not kill you. Any and all surviving Women have created a small hideout underground in the old world sewers where the Ai never checks. The Ai have the humans work every day from 4 am to 11 pm with very little food or water to make Ai bodies, towers and the city. Some women are able to pass by looking masculine, as such some women are working on the city.)

Micah shoved his hands in the grimy pockets as he stood in line for the identification at the end of the day. He was shaking again, he needed his hormone shot, and he swore today he would be caught. He was a man, he knew it. He’s been a man for years. He loved being a man. But biology was against him. The Ai was stupid, hell he’s seen a few woman pass by doing what he does. He’s meet a few women. It rare as hell, if you are biologically a women normally your caught but Micah’s seen some pass. He moved up, rubbing at the shock collar around his neck.
He looked around at the city and frowned, many have died building this for the Ai. The trans man exhaled slowly, trying to ease his nerves. He clenched his hands in his pockets, gritting his teeth faintly. It was already dark out, pitch black. The ai’s glowing lights lit up as someone failed the identification. Micah closed his eyes, the scream and the explosion that followed were etched into his mind from years of seeing this happen. When he opened his eyes he saw the person’s head rolling down the streets, eyes blown up and jaw unhinged. The body was bleeding heavily and soon a long mechanical tentacle slithered from an Ai and grabbed the headless body, ripping open the front and stringing it up on a wire where it dripped blood down onto people in the line.
Someone threw up and another explosion rang out, the man who threw up’s head exploded and showered Micah and others with bone fragments and brain matter as the body fell down. The mechanical tentacle did the same thing, cutting open the front of the body and stringing it on a wire. Micah held in a gag and moved up, shaking violently now. He looked down, eyes wide and pupils dilated as he shallowly exhaled. Breath, Micah. Breath. He thought, listening to the beep of a passing person and moving up again. You’ve passed before, you’ll pass again. He thought almost desperately. Micah forced himself to focus, trying to block out the gruesome scenes unfolding around him. He knew he had to keep his composure if he wanted to make it through the identification process unscathed. The fear and anxiety were overwhelming, but he couldn't let them consume him. As he moved closer to the front of the line, Micah's mind raced with thoughts of the risks he was taking. The hormone shot he desperately needed was a lifeline, but acquiring it illegally came with its own dangers. He had seen the consequences firsthand, witnessing the brutal punishments inflicted by the AI on those who failed the identification.
The city's oppressive atmosphere weighed heavily on Micah. He couldn't help but feel a sense of injustice, knowing that the AI's biased system disproportionately targeted individuals like him. He had met other trans men and women who had managed to pass, but their success was rare and often short-lived. The constant threat of discovery haunted Micah every day. He bit his lip, stepping forward and almost slipping in the blood that covered the sidewalk. He bit off a whimper, knowing it was best to stay silent. He carefully shifted on his feet, moving up again as another beep rang out. He tried to hide behind his facade of emotionless mess, but that first person who died was his friend. A close friend. They had been non-binary, AFAB. They had passed for years like Micah, using hormones and using other unhealthy ways to look masculine. Still, they lost weight and lost their hormone shots and now they’re dead. Micah moved up again and his eyes snapped up at a failing beep, eyes widening as he saw another person die. Head exploding. The mechanical tentacle cut open the front of the body as it fell and strung it up on the wire. He continued to shake violently and moved up, standing infront of the holographic image.
And then it beeped.
